Guys that is not a cosplayer it is a real Kenku using her Mimic feature to sound like a human. For proof look at: 1. The mouth moves! 2. There is no eye wholes for a human. 3. She can't fly.
Were we talking about a way to see for a human right? Doesn't matter I wasn't pointing those holes out, look very closely next to the eyes bear the beak there is a circular shaped texture and that's where she looks through it looks opaque but its made of thin fibre you can see through it.
I cant imagine how expensive it was to buy all those incredible feathers... She has a fantastic eye for texture. The beak, the eyes, the scaly skin. Everything about it screams realism. Professional quality costime design right there
"...Your afternoon walk is interrupted, as a strange humanoid bird rushes up to you excitedly, a sheet of paper in their hands. It jumps up and down, gesturing to the paper, and shoves it in your hands. Confused, you look at the paper and see a passage of words. At the top of the page is the message 'I need help, please read the whole thing aloud.' "You look back at the crow-girl, it has its hands folded in front of it, looking at you expectantly and excitedly. You shake your head and begin to read the words on the page. 'Thank you. This is my D&D character, her name is Roo..." "About a minute or so of reading the passage, you finish. The kenku hops up and down, silently cheering, and hugs you. It is here that you look further down the road. A camera crew is loitering about in a nearby empty lot. It suddenly strikes you that the page you were reading sounded a lot like an interview. Roo, (you gathered that is the name of the kenku that you have helped) lets you go, and says 'Thank you', eerily enough in the exact same cadence, tone, and voice that you said at the top of the page. With your high Insight check, you deduce that the girl was asked to explain herself, but, being one of the mimicking bird-folk, had no way of actually answering the crew's questions. She scurries back in their direction, leaving you confused, but happy you helped. "...Alright, Roo. Make a perform check, the camera crew wants to shoot some B-roll."
I refuse to believe that’s a human inside a costume. A real Kenku must have fell through an extraplanar portal into our world, listened to some cosplayers outside of a convention, and is using their mimicry of said cosplayers to pass themselves off as a part of our reality.
I had the same exact reaction!! Just 1(*ONE*) freaking month??!?!?!?! and she's like: It took me a whole month bc I was only working on it in my off time next to work and other stuff... I hate her.
Not only the moving mouth, but where the heck does she see through? I froze the screen at the close-up and can't see any place that the face feathers/fur is thin (where there would be a mesh, etc). I am in total awe. And only a month to make? Duham girl!
It's a moving jaw with a basic spring or hinge mechanism. She likely sees through buckram at the tearduct area of the eyes. You can kinda see it if you focus in on the shadow below the brow at the inner edge of the eye. These are both fursuit-making techniques. :)
It's quite simple mechanism with pulleys and levers that allows you to move it with your chin. It has been used in movies since very first monster movies.
You can use furry jaw tutorials when you start to make a simple jaw mechanism. I'm using a couple for my realistic Gaster cosplay, gonna make that sucker jaw move and scare some kids.
Film quality, so epic. The only thing it needs somehow is a nectitating membrane for blinking. Unreal! One of the best cosplays I’ve ever seen, she also clearly understands bird anatomy and biology. If you are that good you really know birds! Inspiring!
This kenku is beautiful and realistic, but don't compare it to furries. That'll put down lots of them, plus there's people who are so good at making fursuits. So don't say that
Mortari Quick Warning, Kenku can be tricky to roleplay because their incapable of creative thought, the way I typically get around this is making a Warlock and having any ideas it comes up with originate from the Patron.
Hey, thanks for the heads up :). They can be very tricky indeed, I think the way I'd that is that I'd not partake in any brainstorming made by the group, only follow their decision, since this is what a Kenku can do. Outside of strategic stuff, most likely i'd walk around stealing stuff from unaware travelers hahaha.
They are capable, which shows in the fact that they spring a bunch of traps and get taught by elders. They just seem to be incapable of expressing their creative thought. Also when would volo EVER lie or be wrong about something. Ever
ive been playing a kenku doctor for about a year now and how i get around the creativity thing is that they've watched someone else do it, read about it, or heard about it. like my guy learned how to be a doctor by being a doctors assistant. now he just parrots every diagnosis he heard from his dead mentor and all his colleges.
Just found this, and I have to say, while the costume is indeed incredible (quite gorgeous, with the mute iridescence and all the feathers in general), her movement is also spot on. As a fellow bird enthusiast, I have to say she really captured the movement of crows perfectly. It’s subtle things like this that really make the costume come together and make it seem as if it’s not a costume at all, but a living, breathing character. Fantastic job.
If you’re wondering how the mask moves while she talks, in the mask there is a lever under her jaw that when pulled down opens the mount like she’s talking.
I want to agree because that is an urk of mine as well. Although she is much more well spoken then many I come across, she is not so well off as you suggest. There are many umms. And the usage of "and" and "so" at the beginning of a paused running sentence is simply a replacement usage of a "like", "umm" or "err"... she is filled with "and", and to a lesser extent "so". "And" and "so" feel like lesser violators as they are "real words". Again, I do find her natural pauses and lack of need to constantly fill space with some sound to be very refreshing though. :)
My favorite thing about kenku is imagining them as birds shaped like people instead of just "bird people" and this embodies that, their history being "they were stripped of their wings and in their place they got bird talon like arms" always made me imagine that they were originally just man sized crows, and this is exactly how i always pictured them
How does the mouth move is that what you mean and how you see how you see she may have used backrum fabric to see through like around the edge of the eyes
Rah is awesome. She is not only a great costumer, but she is a great artist and designer. I learned about her for the first time when I was playing The Endless Forest years ago!
She did this in a month, in her free time, and it ended up into a movie level costume. She must be a witch! There is no other explanation
Late Night Boredom Maybe she is a kenku mimicking somebody talking about their awful costume
She's an amazing artist. Check her Tumblr out.
I have seen you on at least 40 vids
kenku are masters at mimicry
Don't be silly, she says she's a Rogue
😉
Guys that is not a cosplayer it is a real Kenku using her Mimic feature to sound like a human. For proof look at:
1. The mouth moves!
2. There is no eye wholes for a human.
3. She can't fly.
the third argument is really the only proof you need
I can't disagree with you there
but there are eye holes look at the beak near the eyes
Tamahagane Those are called nostril holes, I think. I'm not an expert on kenku anatomy.
Were we talking about a way to see for a human right? Doesn't matter I wasn't pointing those holes out, look very closely next to the eyes bear the beak there is a circular shaped texture and that's where she looks through it looks opaque but its made of thin fibre you can see through it.
That's some amazing caw-splay
Ahahahahah
Hahaaha
🔫
nice
🤣👍
Brilliant sir!
oh crow up
The most amazing thing is that Kenku managed to get someone to say that entire speech so they could mimic it! That's some forethought! :P
I was actually thinking the same thing . . .
They also need to hear someone speak it for like a whole hour, right? So they had to have someone repeat this speech about 40 times
No I think Kenku can just mimic a speech after hearing it a single time. You might be thinking of that assassin perk that involves mimicking someone.
Dahm those eyes are gorgeous......
Like a Blackbird's... :)
Ikr. Absolutely beautiful. The eyes just pull me in😍😍😍
Classic pick-up line.
Mizerable Git you haven't seen Raven from Teen Titans lolol
I cant imagine how expensive it was to buy all those incredible feathers... She has a fantastic eye for texture. The beak, the eyes, the scaly skin. Everything about it screams realism. Professional quality costime design right there
The feathers were all craft foam, which usually goes for....a dollar a 1ft square sheet, I think! She gave a tutorial on her tumblr page somewhere.

Dude stop.
Dan Kearney
+5 deception
That's a good ministory
Dan Kearney I actually used this to start a campaign
Nunu Rats It's spelt Rue
"Kiri, what have you got?"
"A knife!"
"NO!!!!!!"
Saw a video with same person at a convention with the cosplay re-skinned to be Kiri.
I refuse to believe that’s a human inside a costume. A real Kenku must have fell through an extraplanar portal into our world, listened to some cosplayers outside of a convention, and is using their mimicry of said cosplayers to pass themselves off as a part of our reality.
that looks cool like better than most movie costumes or cgi
"Took me about a month to make"
"Worked on it in my free time"
_Dang that's impressive_
Someone get this girl on the team for the D&D movie, this costume work is insane!
A MONTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JUST A MONTH????????
Amazing, right? I was guessing a year and a half!
I been waiting for something similar for 3 years... so a month just feels like a punch in the face and also so well made and good looking
Tamahagane it's magic!!!
I had the same exact reaction!! Just 1(*ONE*) freaking month??!?!?!?!
and she's like: It took me a whole month bc I was only working on it in my off time next to work and other stuff...
I hate her.
@@nihilus0 lmao why do you hate her? Just because she can get a costume done in a month?
How does she make the mouth move with hers?! I want to see the mechanism inside. That's like muppet-level skill in costume making.
Not only the moving mouth, but where the heck does she see through? I froze the screen at the close-up and can't see any place that the face feathers/fur is thin (where there would be a mesh, etc). I am in total awe.
And only a month to make? Duham girl!
She had a decent amount of tutorials on her blog basically explaining the process of the cosplay as she went along.
It's a moving jaw with a basic spring or hinge mechanism. She likely sees through buckram at the tearduct area of the eyes. You can kinda see it if you focus in on the shadow below the brow at the inner edge of the eye. These are both fursuit-making techniques. :)

Wow. Now I know what kenkus would be like in real life.
Magicwillnz And it’s kinda terrifying
If you told me this was footage of an actual kenku we captured i would believe you
The face and the eyes are so good that it's uncomfortable to look at. That may be the highest level of praise that I can give to any cosplay.
When a Kenku rogue cosplay beats almost every fur suit that most furries own
This kenku is beautiful and realistic, but don't compare it to furries. That'll put down lots of them, plus there's people who are so good at making fursuits. So don't say that
If she doesn't already, she should go into some sort of Jim Henson, Muppet, movie monster- making, costume field.
Wow, I've come across several pictures of the costume, but never seen it moving. Absolutely incredible.
Good lord that is awesome! I really want to play as a Kenku now.
Mortari Quick Warning, Kenku can be tricky to roleplay because their incapable of creative thought, the way I typically get around this is making a Warlock and having any ideas it comes up with originate from the Patron.

Ever
dat guy for sure. Volo doesn't lie.
Right, Elminster?

Glad to see no negative comments
the cosplay is well made that even the jerks are like: "nah. let's not spoil the moment"
hopefully, 4chan doesnt prove me wrong
the D&D community is full of nice people.
Well, it's a cosplay. If this video said fursuit on it, it would be a totally different comment section.
Cosplayers are changelings >_>
those eyes are staring into my soul. this is so eerily realistic
Just found this, and I have to say, while the costume is indeed incredible (quite gorgeous, with the mute iridescence and all the feathers in general), her movement is also spot on.

Holy raven queen! Thats cool!
It's so surreal watching her talk... we all know Kenkus don't talk.
Oh my god what a talented artist (and incredible cosplay designer too!), D&D you have to get her into your books! Her website art is amazing!!
this is the most spectacular cosplay I've ever seen!!! he eyes!! omg
This is the best cosplay I have ever seen.
That took love and dedication to do. I am very impressed.
OH MY GOD IT'S RAH!! A cute bird and a wonderful friend, A++.
Is it so wrong that I thought I was listening an actual Kenku, not a person in a Kenku suit?
Just amazing! Could be used as a movie prop for a major production anytime.
Imagine just walking down the sidewalk, when suddenly a freaking fully realistic kenku is just barreling toward you at full speed.
Please have her meet Commander Holly omg
You might look at Adam Savage's Totoro costume and Bear costume. He gets that bulk without crazy weight using hanging hoops.
Holy crap, that costume is awesome
You can see all of the love and passion that she put into that costume. Gorgeous work. There are no words.
Absolutely beautiful
this is cosplay inspiration right here! I was looking for costume ideas for my kenku cosplay and this tops them all. Just wow!!!
All those little trinkets on her costume are so cute and make this amazing cosplay that much better.
This is like movie level costuming
I wonder if her "day job" is to make movie costumes :D
If you’re wondering how the mask moves while she talks, in the mask there is a lever under her jaw that when pulled down opens the mount like she’s talking.
Damn, awesome cosplay and keeping in character with the mimicking cry
Absolutely incredibly work. She did a fantastic job
Fantastic work!!!!
Amazing work. Loads of character in the eyes
She's very well spoken. It's always so nice to hear someone speak with natural pauses of silence rather than likes, Umms, and Errs.
You are amazing omg beautiful cosplay and thanks for showing us fellow d and d fans that beautiful kenku and keep being awesome
Her puppetry work is amazing, and off ourselves the craftsmanship of it all
This is absolutely stunning. Kudos to her!
That is ABSOLUTELY Amazing!
so very well done!
This is amazing!
very talented. i would not even have the slightest idea how to even begin making this costume. damn!
Beautiful
Just beautiful

This is so amazing
This is incredible.
This is incredible
Wow... I really like birds, and the effort in there is amazing.
This is superb.
Wow...this is really cool costume.
Those eyes are the best part of that suit! 5/5 quality work!
I thought this was silly at first but then I watched the passion flowing from her, it changed my mind completely. Absolutely love it!
Amazing!
Cool. Marvelous. Aswesome. Great job !!!!
The fact that she was able to make the mouth move with her own gives me chills... Amazing work, miss.
Wow that's stunning great work!
My god.. this costume is amazing!!!
THAT'S FREAKING AWESOME!!!
what an awesome D&D costume!
Just watched a bird talk for 2 minutes. Science is amazing.
So talented
Love this ! Amazing Crow ! X❤
That is amazing
The eyes looks AMAZING!
This. Is. AMAZING
I have many questions-
-How does see?
-How does mouth?
-Can fly?
-Bird Seed?
How does the mouth move is that what you mean and how you see how you see she may have used backrum fabric to see through like around the edge of the eyes
This is amazing and I love it!
amazing.
Dude that is an amazing cosplay
She's so cool! This cosplay is amazing
Woah I love this
Your outfit looks very good, so realistic.

This is so cool.
