Thanks for this!! My niece just started softball for the first time this season, after spending the last couple years training/competing in jiu-jitsu, since age 5.
Just a tip for parents, I'd recommend getting your young children in jiu-jitsu before they start any other team sport. It helped lay a foundation, it's been HUGE for her... & after competing vs boys bigger than her, trying to choke her out, softball hasn't been nearly as overwhelming as it would be, had she started with softball first... Her first practice, she said "much easier than jiu-jitsu!" 😅
She had been through a lot for a 5 year old, at that point. Her father is doing 15 years in prison, she hasn't seen him since she was 3 years old.
    I appreciate your videos!

And her last BJJ competition, her weight class had 3 girls in it, with a bunch of boys.
Those 3 girls made up the podium lol my niece took home bronze, and won a badass Samaria sword.
I felt bad for the boys... 3 girls put it on them lol.. my hands/armpits sweat like a mf.. more nervous than my niece, but I could watch these kids all day.
It's a joy to watch them get after it!

The drills themselves are great, BUT, the kids in the videos are clearly not 8u and therefore would be way more difficult for them to complete!

Hey Anthony! While we didn't film every drill in our library (100+ drills!) with every age group, we use experts from MLB to determine what age groups a drill is applicable for. At the end of the day -- you know your team best so if some of these are too advanced that's OK! There are more drills for free in the MOJO app that you can try, too.
Also -- in the MOJO app for each drill we provide details on what is likely to go right and wrong with different age groups doing each drill, as well as how to make it easier. The app is free to use with your team: get.mojo.sport/youtube

Our daughter is playing the first time this year! 10U...It's definitely a neverending journey of learning, practice, and positive criticism! Positive attitude, realize she will mess up-it's part of getting better! It's fun to watch them progress and develop new friendships! Good luck!

Hope they did well & enjoyed it! My 8 year old niece has been training & competing in jiu-jitsu since she was 5, playing softball for the first time this season.
Thankfully it's been a little less nerve-racking watching her play softball, w/o a boy her age trying to choke her out lol I swear I was more nervous watching her compete in BJJ than she was... sweaty hands/armpits for days lolol

@@ericshipton3118 couldn't agree more. My niece, starting with jiu-jitsu as her first "organized activity", that has been HUGE in how she's been able to overcome the tough times she's had, starting softball for the first time these last few weeks, after never swinging a bat or using a glove before.
Absolute joy to watch these kids grow/learn. Always amazes me how kids soak up information..(when they want to lolol)

This title is very misleading. The players are CLEARLY not 7-8, and clearly aren't using softballs, which are bigger and heavier to throw. Sure some of these drills you can alter to work for a 7-8 softball team but with the title you have you shouldn't have to alter anything.

Hey Paul -- you're right, some of these drills are filmed for baseball! However, experts say that these activities are great for both baseball AND softball, so we've included them here. Hope that helps!

The rules are the same. There's 4 bases, 3 outs. It all applies. Plus there's a few drills for softball in there.
