Man , I'm stoked your a Disciple of Jesus , I'm an old school Bones Brigade era skateboarder and it took me until now to except Jesus , everything you said was true Steve , we are so sidetracked & deceived by Satan with self enlightenment and false doctrines that we finally realize that there is only one truth (Jesus, the way the truth & the life) as multiple truths are just not possible , kinda mind blowing that the word of God always is true but Man thinks he can exalt himself above the knowledge of God (who does that remind you of) and thinks he can make his own realities & truths. And then Man takes the word of God out of context & twists & distorts it to prove his own truth instead of opening there hearts, eyes and ears and actually seeing the truth. I admire Caballero as it could not be any other way, but I disagree with this topic and christians in general. I understand religion is sometimes a way into meditation but I can argue they overcomplicate the path. I've been a zen buddhist for around 26 years and and atheist since forever. I could make a point about what he says at 3:00 You don't find enlightenment by reading about it, but by doing the meditation. You don't even need to read about zen at all after you are into it. If you do the meditation, there comes a moment in which you realize the enlightening has always been there the whole time. As I say, to my understanding praying is what people do in many religions (including buddhism) to get near meditation, but it's not the meditation itself. It can help, but you can skip it as well. I personally believe in meditation, not in prayer, and i believe in the awareness of the heart, not in Jesus. I could claim with confindece that christians should agree with me that awareness of the heart is the important thing. What I do is skipping the Jesus part. If prayer is a path to Jesus, meditation is a path to awareness of the heart.

Stevie Caballero was one of my biggest skating influences as a kid / teen, and I still admire everything he's done, but this video and others where he's promoting the Jesus thing just makes me sad. I'd never deny him his belief, but it's a great disappointment to see him attribute his recovery from depression to man made religion, and not his own inner strength.

Met Steve in 1985, invited to his backyard half-pipe. The guy was genuine and frankly, I understand his faith, as his story is similar to mine.
