Hey folks, here's my affiliate link to get your Catchbox - thom.catchbox.com Also, since I made this video, Catchbox has launched a new and improved version of the Catchbox Plus system where they've redesigned the Clip presenter microphone and improved Hub receiver & throwable mic. All to say, it'll all look & sound even better than what you see in the video :)
This is SUCH a great invention! Thanks for introducing it to us all. I'm in Melbourne, Australia and we have just gone back to the classroom after our fourth lockdown. This is such a problem solver for the whole microphone/audio/feedback situation. And when we are back on site - it can be used in whole school assemblies etc! winner!
Thank you for this video. I just received my catchbox system from our IT department. It is set up. The way you explained how to use it was clear and helped me to understand the various parts that are now connected in my classroom.
I want a microphone where I don't have to carry anything heavy, wherever I go, be it classroom, utube. I should be able to move anywhere, because it it is fixed on The collar . What does it cost in Indian currency?
Hello Thom, can we place this catchbox on the centre table of a meeting hall in the school where students are, when I am taking online class from my home. Can it help me to hear the voice of the students clearly even from distance?
@@gibsonedu … yes I did. The branding looks great and the quality of the sounds is spot on. I love the auto mute feature. One concern I have is the quality of the receiver box. The backlighting is not adjustable and it is dim, and very small print. Time will tell. Thanks again for the recommendation.
Thanks for the video! I have a catch-up box in my classroom. I’ve used it for several years, but I am at a new school with different technology. I am trying to connect it to a clear touch device, but get quite a bit feedback and an echo. Any suggestions?
This is more ideal for a hybrid classroom. There are less expensive alternatives if you have a quiet voice. This video may help - ruclips.net/video/jobDK9d373E/видео.html
Hey Elizabeth. I made another video that shows the mic I use for making video lessons - ruclips.net/video/Sjn0MUskpt8/видео.html The closer you get to your phone though, the better the audio will be. There's also microphones you can put on your phone like this one - amzn.to/3iLi96D
Hello Thom, thanks for putting out this video. Can you suggest a high-quality microphone for people who create instructional videos, and use a keyboard and mouse configuring stuff while talking to the mic? . Say, an instructor is giving a LAB Demo of a particular technology and he/she wants to sound as good as what you have in this video but wants to concentrate on the demonstration as opposed to getting closer to the microphone so that his / her voice gets picked up well. by the way, what is the microphone that you have used to record this video?
This looks like it could make all my hopes & dreams come true! Can you tell me what the speaker was you were using? (I know it's not part of CatchBox, but I'm tired of buying the wrong technology!!)
I was using the one my school gave me but that one's currently unavailable. This is a similar one - amzn.to/3IB3x4i. You'll need a USB and headphone port in order to make it work with your computer. And you'll also need a USB port to plug the Catchbox receiver in so all-in-all, you need 2 USB ports and 1 headphone jack on your computer to run this setup.
Thank you for this amazing explainer! One question... if the person holding the box is talking and you talk with the presenter mic, does one cancel out the other or can both talk at the same time?
I had the same question. It cancels it out so there’s no doubling effect if it’s the same person. But if the teacher has the presenter mic and a student has the box, you can hear both at the same time.
HI Thom. Awesome content and great mic. I teach at university and not sure the constant throwing around the mic would be suitable. Sounds fun, though. Any suggestions (or past videos) for a more traditional way to mic up a classroom to help remote students to feel included?

Yeah I was pretty excited about it when I found it! How much longer do you have in the school year?

Glad to hear it Mark!
Great video Thom! Awesome EdTech!
Thanks Aaron! How's life up in Oregon? How was middle school science this year?
The mic drop moment 😂😂😂😂
Genius. I was actually waiting for Candace to lob it back against the back of your head. 😄
Ha! Definitely won't get those extra credit points then.
@@gibsonedu That Tik Tok clout tho.

Not sure of the Indian currency.

I think it depends on how close they are to the catchbox. It is mean to be held by one person and spoken pretty much directly into it.
I need this for my business 😍
Get it! It’s great 📦 🎤 😃
Thanks, Tom. I just ordered a set for my event business based on your review. I hope the affiliate link worked. Cheers!
Right on Mark! Have you gotten your Catchbox yet?

Id reach out to Catchbox to see if they can help you troubleshoot.
@thorn can i use this gadget just for classroom? I am not having a hybrid class. My voice is low but i have a large class for about 33 students

Glad you found it useful Yasin! Welcome :)
It's cool but the price is ridiculous
Yeah it should be something you get your school to pay for.
Check out qball it’s basically the same thing.
Yeah it's a similar product :)
