I have all the signs of this rash, including the symmetrical nature, but my dr thinks it is a food allergy and IgE mediated (RAST test negative). I gave up and just went gluten-free myself! I think if drs were honest about things they don't know, then people would be diagnosed quicker.

The rash is how I found out I have celiacs disease. The doctor kept trying to tell me it was a skin infection even after almost two years of having this rash. I finally told him I wanted the special blood test for testing for Celiac and it came back positive and with Iron deficiency and several other things associated with it. The rash was so bad I couldn't sleep much, my anxiety was throug the roof. Even though having Celiac sucks I was at least relieved to find out the cause.

We often diagnose our selves, I know I did. Drs don’t know that much about CD, I had it for years before I had the itching on the scalp. I was accidentally gluten while eating out last night, I was in pain, I had bloating and joint pain, and the itching came back in my scalp. All this within an hour of being glutened. We know our own bodies.

I think there is a correlation between rash flare ups and anxiety so I appreciate you mention this.I've been GF, dx celiac for 15 yrs. But in the last few years developed horrible red, raw, itchy hives rash on my chest, knees, headaches, joint oain.and awful panic attacks. Drs refused to believe it had anything to do with my celiac disease. Dermatologist couldn't offer any help but steroid creams to use indefinitely.. It wasn't til a nutritionist mentioned gf oats which I had been eating everyday for breakfast are usually NOT ok for celiacs. I cut out the gf oats Within a few months the rash has mostly resolved and my anxiety has decreased.

SO GLAD I WATCHED THIS!!! I had "DH"!! Off and on (mostly on) for a year, and didn't now what it was. I then had a SEVERE digestive issue. My skin is still darkish in some areas. Now I know why! I went of nearly everything, including gluten for four months. ALL symptoms stopped. I gradually added things back in: caffeine, alcohol, meat, dairy. And finally--gluten. Then things started again. Been off the gluten now again. FOREVER!!.

It's my understanding that in order to take a celiac test, I'd have to eat gluten for 7-10 days first. NOT doing that. I'll assume I either have celiac or non-celiac gluten intolerance.

I have Dermatitis Herpetiformis and i can confirm even there are no Blisters the itching takes place everywhere on the skin (when you don't see anything) even after 8 months glutenfree, it's still a mess. i know it will take 1 to 2 years to get rid of it.

Thank you, now I know the skin doesn’t have to have blisters to feel itchy all over.
I hope you feel better soon, and it doesn’t take as long as you anticipated to recover. 🙏

@@wendyhannan2454 In my case the blistering happened when you scratched the little bumps.

@@rcgamerThat makes sense, I had a slight pink rash on my scalp, but no blisters. The itching happens on the upper part of my body, even my eye brows, which thinned right out. 🤷‍♀️ It’s a strange disease, with many side effects. I love these videos there so helpful.

This is great, as little seems to be known about Celiac Disease side effects. I’ve been putting my dermatitis symptoms down to meds I’ve been taking.
I don’t have blisters, I do have awful itching on the scalp and have suffered hair loss, and at times itching on different parts of my body. Thank you for this video, and this valuable information.

I had it mainly on front of lower legs. And groin!! dibs and dabs everywhere else, Now and then small bit on face/scalp. Quit everything, including gluten, for four months, then gradually added things back in, rash went away. Added foofs back in, lastly gluten. Came ROARING back!! After a year, the skin on my legs is still discolored.

You do not get any rash with celiac disease it is a food allergy that affects the stomach not the skin my son was born with celiac and i developed it and have no or never had any rash. And my son was diagnosed in 1983.
