    I'm 30 yrs old and I've going to these events since I was 2 because my uncles was are owners of a team and yes these trucks are basically rebuilt after every run let alone race event, plus each tire is now costing upwards of $3500. dollars apiece now, plus add on cost for broken and replace parts and equipment along with tools and rebuilding and transportation vehicles.

    9:44 fun fact, those yellow bars on the bottom of the trucks are actually cages over the front and rear drive shafts because they commonly shatter from stress and can cause dangerous debris. The yellow bars help facilitate most of the debris preventing it from flying out and hitting someone.

    I've been to at least 6 monster truck rallies. I have a pic of me from the 90's with grave digger actually touching the truck. That truck was on this video twice. Grave digger and bigfoot are the two biggest monster truck names there is. I had a friend that worked for a national parts store napa and they were sponsoring a monster truck rally at our local racetrack. He drove a Napa truck to the track and asked me to go with him. The truck was parked in the center of the track with all the monster trucks. A total of 5. I was talking to the driver of grave digger and I got his autograph. They used to have a monster truck show on TV weekly. So this guy was always on the show being interviewed. This was a big deal if you was a monster truck fan. It was awesome.

    The wheels are all individually controlled, both speed and directions for all the tires are under the driver's control. It takes real skill to do what they can do.😊

  • @jasonligon5937
    @jasonligon5937 10 месяцев назад

    They can control all wheels separately on the newer vehicles. That's how they get the great tricks. It's wacky, but it requires skill to drive those crazy machines.

    A monster jam truck has all the safety features built-in by law. And by law all monster jam trucks have to have what is called a RII System (remote, ignition interrupter) which allows the track officials to remotely shut down the truck at any time in any part of the stadium. Once it is shut down, the only thing that works is steering and the brakes.

    Just so you know, each truck has 3 kill switches on them, one in the cab with the driver, one on remote that someone on the arena floor has and another in a both over looking the show. So if they get too out of control they can stop them lol

    Those tires are about 5 to 6 feet in diameter. The engines are massive and they don't have mufflers. Hearing protection is pretty much necessary even if you are a spectator.

    The sheer expense of building/rebuilding these trucks🤯🤯🤯🤯
    The drivers are enclosed in roll cages and harnessed in with 5 point seat belts etc so risk of injury is minimized to the best of their ability.

    For many years I worked at an arena and convention center which hosted Monster Jam every year in February. All the arena doors had to stay open for the truck exhaust to escape so it was cooold and LOUD. A man on the arena floor was crushed when a monster truck backed up and pinned him against the wall one year.

    A big part of being able to do the flips is how big the treads on the wheels are.

    Monster Trucks are awesome, I wish I could post a picture here of just how big they are, I have one with my twin boys when they were 3 standing next to one. They have to fix those truck sometimes more than once a night when they are racing. but some are just tore up each time they go out on the Field to perform. Especially Grave Digger and that family of trucks, as well as Maximum Destruction.

      There's been at least one driver that got a concussion at current Texas Motor Speedway which happened last year but other than that it's been pretty safe. Just that one qualifying flip that Michael McDowell had after hitting wall really hard and some slow flips.

      I used to work picking up trash at Texas Motor Speedway. For the 3 big NASCAR races people start arriving 5 or 6 days before the big race. The grounds around the track are immense. People camp out and hundreds come in big RV's. I asked one of the managers how many people there were, and he told me 269,000. In a way it was fun. You found all kinds of booze laying around and a lot of the people would give you beer and hard liquor as well as food. You had to learn to pace yourself so you didn't get too drunk. Plus I usually found well over $100 cash per shift. Glamorous work! lol

    A monster truck weighs about 5 tons. The driver of the truck in the last clip was a professional woman's wrestler before becoming a monster truck driver. I don't remember the last time a driver was injured driving one of these trucks. Bigfoot is the original monster truck and the most famous. Bigfoot doesn't take part in Monster Jam because of a disagreement between it's owner and the people that run Monster Jam.
