So, piloting a comment on the band here, whom I love BTW. The new album has 12 songs, and yes, I do miss having one or two ballads, but they're steering the ship and I like where it's going. But there were 6 songs that came out before the release date (Sick, Que Mas Quieres, More, Burnout, Hell You Call A Dream, and Automatic Sun), and following fan videos of their concerts I notice that they play these 6 with their usual confidence, absolute tightness, and sense of enjoyment. The other 6 they weren't able to play live until the album came out, and they've had essentially no time to rehearse these 6 songs (Six Feet Deep, Apologize, Escapism, Satisfied, Sharks, and Consume) except in sound checks, because they've been touring. Videos of these 6 look more tentative and less precise, not surprisingly. I hope they are not driving / being driven too hard right now; I hope they get a break to thoroughly work up the other 6 songs before they start the North American tour, because those are very complex songs for three people to play live, but they will be bangers once they're polished.
