Intercropping Vegetables In My Vineyard

  • I make use of space between the rows of grapes to grow useful plants. Vegetables like squash, cucumbers, and melons aren't usually eaten by wildlife, so they do well in the vineyard. They don't compete for water and nutrients as much as the grass that would normally grow between the vines, and they don't need to be mowed. And out in the vineyard crop rotation is super easy, so the squash and cukes don't fall prey to insect pests and the diseases they spread.
