Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines is a marvellous game.
Troika's nail in the coffin.
This is a love letter dedicated to it.
You should play it. It's magnificent.
I highly recommend playing the version on GOG.com over the one on Steam, since it comes with highly necessary community patches pre-installed and overall runs better.

Pretty much every single character in that game actually has a personality.
Even the security guard is entertaining.
Officer Chunk
Best guard ever.
He's... cute, in the way a pug is cute.
Chunk is my chunky boy.
@@Bl1tzkn1ght chunk is the bestfriend you want... but the one you never get
The thing about Vampire Bloodlines is that the NPCs, even somewhat minor ones, are actually _acting_ when they talk with the player. Be it making grand sweeping gestures to underline a point in the most dramatic manner possible, fixing you with an angry glare taken straight from a Kubrick film, or smirking smugly as they revel in their own superiority.
Troika Games managed to pull this off on a subpar version of an engine they never had worked with before on their first try. Bethesda has been running with different iterations of the same old shitty engine for almost two decades, and all their NPCs still have the same shitty running animations and makes the same deadeyed stare at you more or less constantly when talking to you.
That is a dамп good point. It goes a long way toward immersing you in the atmosphere, and in many scenes even your own character's facial expressions are portrayed with masterful comedic timing (looking at you, scene where Lily gets freed).
And the game slowly makes you believe that your character is strangely powerful. They get treated like shit but slowly people start noticing and commenting on it. Not in a Mary Sue way but in a very organic way. I love that. It gets around the hill a lot of games have which is how the hell do you make it logical that the player character is OP?
amd obsidian still made the same magic happen. why? because writing goddam matters
I find it somewhat ironic that the vampires in this game look more alive than npcs in much newer games.
Thank you sir. I tip my hat. Say what needs to be said for Christs sake
Played an Brujah named Thug-Lyfe. He solved problems by punching them. I was so into the roleplaying, when he got kicked out of the Tremere Chantry for being a sassy asshole I spend 2 minutes punching the door in anger. I loved that game. Thug-Lyfe was the best.
I'm playing it weird, because apparently my Malks are the most kind Kindred to exist. Welp, at least Ventrues are still dicks
I played Tremere, when I got blood boil I pretty much made everyone I saw explode... I mean I'm an evil sorceror, I blew them Sabbat and Cammies to bits, even the big ass Sheriff bat, even that Kuei-jin or something chick. Don't mess with the Chantry ;)
Very Brujah.
I played as a Toreador named Chastity who flirted her way through the game haha. Although I invested too much in appearance and subterfuge which made the moments where the game requires battle very difficult...
@@_Al__ I know your woes, for I too thought the game would match the TTRPG where disciplines like Presence were far more useful.

I just can't stop thinking that a thousand people right now are simultaneously reinstalling VtmB this very instant. Including me.
Never even deleted it. This is one of the timeless games on my pc.
I just did.
Damn it - just reinstalled it.
cuddlykittehs it's not really difficult
I still have my game installed. But I am itching to play through it once more.
Hese voices in your head that you hear as a Malkavian are in fact coming from the Madness Network. All malkavian's minds can communicate between each other. The fear of that clan is not only because they're crazy jokers but also because if you fuck with one malk, you fuck with the rest.
" Do I often Pogo stick through your thoughts, wearing nothing but a smile? "
Shit, what a line ! ; )

god damn it janette
Janette is one of the best Characters there, VV was quite good too. So good in fact that I was a little bit blushing when she talked...
@@martinnolhaf3151 I haven't played much of the game but I was always super interested in it and I finally was able to get it last night, is it really that good? Also idk if it's the unofficial patch but honestly the combat is fun in my opinion
@@puffpuffpass3214 yea it is that good. Combat is broken when you play melee. Guns are useless and stealth is overpowered. But it's fun because it's simple.
There are a few patches I think. Some change a lot. The Sabbat one is good.
@@martinnolhaf3151 I had to quit it because of the combat. It was bearable against regular enemies but boss fights just broke the enjoyment for me (with the unofficial patch enabled). Hitboxes are hilariously bad. Boss will unexplainably hit you half a screen away with their melee attacks which of course do insane damage even if you have good stats and armor. Sometimes game registers your inputs, sometimes not. Only way to get through most of them for me was save scumming which finally became too much to bear for me. Watched the endings on youtube after quitting. Shame, was really enjoying it except for the horrible combat.
I finished Bloodlines today as Tremere. I had no idea this game existed until I saw your vid. Thanks, it was better than i thought it would be!

Well you posted this almost 1 year ago, time to play it again!
Guess what... Bloodlines 2 is coming and it's going to be lit 🔥
Now play with mods like clan quest mod that add 3 new endings or anti tribe that add 7 new clans and new stuff almkst like another games
You should also try the prelude one it's really good It's a mod where you play as one of the vampire hunters And takes place before the events of the game
Love is the right word. Many games that are technically better may inspire you to like them, but true love cares not for technical prowess. I might think I love other games, but they are nought but mistresses and distractions. After time, my heart will fade for them. Bloodlines is not perfect, but by god do I love it forever.
you cant forget it. the ocean hotel, the snuff film, jeanette, VV, Jack, the sound in the asylum of santa monica. and lets talk in the office, heh? cant hear you! lets, talk in the office! Heh, cant hear you! Lets talk in the office!-Okay.. XD. the choice between dark and light and the things after your choice..(its quite close to star wars in this aspect, and other aspect to)
Hence why I prefer Fallout New Vegas over Fallout 4
My god, you nailed it. For example, my favourite game of ALL TIME is the original Deus Ex from 2000. There is absolutely nothing that can or ever will beat it in my personal opinion.
@@randomguy6679 I never replayed 3. I haven't even finished 4 because I enjoyed the side quests more and got bored of the main one. NV? replay it all the time
Bloodlines is still my favorite RPG game ever. And I've been playing it for 10 years.
Same here. I remember buying it back when I didn't have a PC that was good enough to play it and I still have that copy with my, to this day.
It's also heavily moddable, which adds tons of replayability.
Have you played Bards Tale? Ultima Underworld?
wow 10 years without autism meds i see....
Same!
The atmosphere and "feel" in VtmB is completely unrivaled. Loved that game to death, despite the bugs, frustrating combat and a pretty weak endgame.
amen. vtmb 2 won;t hold a candle to this from the look of it
Word. The game gets by almost entirely by its writing, characters, voice actors, atmosphere and feel. It's easily one of the best Role Playing Games ever made and it delivered exactly what it needed to be. To this day, there is no game about vampirism that can come anywhere close to it. Even its predecessor, Redemption, pales in comparison.
to be fair, a majority of technical issues can be fixed with the modded patch, plus its easy to get on your game and ive done no modding outside of a few fallout games
I agree. That kinda mysterious atmoaphere with a vague feeling of dread at an aproaching apocalypse is so amazing the first playthrough.
I think mass effect one was the only other game that pulled me that hard into a world just with its atmospheric world building.
One of the things overlooked in this video: The themes and mood.
The artistic design and style is constant and solid. The layout of the levels, the music, the fashion, it all really emphasizes the Gothic and nihilistic mood of this game.
I think that part of the game was left unmentioned in this one because there are a lot of games that really nail visuals, audio appeal, and mood, and there are also always going to be things about that which people disagree with. Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines does have a lean toward emphasizing the kinky things attached to all of its themes, for instance, which can be a negative point to people who prefer a more down-to-earth and serious feeling in the appearance of things. On that score it really is more interesting to talk about how it treats the subject matter directly associated with that aesthetic--the metropolitan night life--because that's the kind of thing that will convince such people to look past their aesthetic misgivings and give what lies underneath a chance.
- Lewis
The OST for Vampire: Bloodlines is a true classic. It deserves as much a reference as the writting.
Church turned into a nightclub.
That is the tone of this game.
It is glorious.
It is an awful time capsule into the early 2000s in the best possible way.
ugh tragedy
This was one of the first games I pirated. I loved it so damn much, and actually felt bad when the company shut down like I personally caused it by not paying for my copy of the game. I payed full price for the boxed copy afterwards, and have bought it again many more times over the years as Steam gifts for friends. Still tho, after buying maybe 10 copies of the game I still feel bad for not buying that first copy while Troika was still working.
i have been thinking about getting the game for the last 5 years and i have always been like it still costs too much
so i still haven't bout the game
I know this is an old comment, but, dude, the game goes regularly on sale every year on GOG and Steam. Up to 75% off in most cases.
@@kwilson617 I've bought it two years ago on GOG with a massive discount. :)
@@enrique6335 Especially around halloween, it's usually on sale for like $5. Though considering the devs don't see a penny of it anymore and it goes to the people who helped kill troika, I can't blame anyone for wanting to scour the 7 seas as it were.
"Loved by an UNDYING community..."
I see what you did there. 😏
I had the most fun playing the female Malkavian character. :)
We definitely need a sequel of this game with 2016-2020 graphics.
I don´t think, that graphics and a good compelling story telling and hiring good voice actors are related to each other, it´s just that most directors/game-creators who are obsessed with good graphics, have no sense for the other things.
But there are exceptions, like Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines. :)
I don´t need them to improve facial details, just the world as such needed to be better, so did the game itself. But there´s a dire need for a sequel.
Making good graphics cost money. If the budget gets too high, you are more likely to play it safe.
My first time playing and that's what I went with, all the other clans seemed like hipster cunts.
Haha, indeed!
I played a Male Malkavian char on my second playthrough. A lot of the dialogue was so hilarious. don't think any rpg ever made me laugh so often.
I'll never forget 1st playing the Ocean House Hotel mission late at night, genuinely terrified, this still remains my favourite game of all time, also dont forget the soundtrack was amazing, peace to you all
Whatever else you might like or dislike about the game, that mission is the #1 portrayal of the classic haunted manor in any video game to date. By a good margin...
That part was so good. And so unexpected. It turned it into a horrorgame and stripped away all delusions of vampires being the scariest thing out there. Good setting, good scares and good story.
The whole atmosphere itself was perfect. Now I have to reinstall the game and get to that mission again.
That mission did such a great job of setting the tone for the rest of the game. You might be a badass vampire with supernatural powers, but there are still things out there beyond your power and understanding.
Dogewow yeah m8. Dead space haha my hand cannon will make the hive mind a mindless joke but that hotel dayum i still get shivers.

Its still Magic. Its still briliant. It still stands head and shoulders over so many great rpg's.

Game actually was the worst sort of broken at launch variety and you couldn't get past a certain location without a console command to bypass it. Fortunately, that was handled with the official patch even before the unofficial one took over.
The game wasn't even properly finished, the publisher pushed the launch
The community has been putting out bug fixes for years.
Right after the release of Blodlines I started to hate Activision.. if they left the original release date (spring of 2005), then maybe, just maybe, the game would be released at a much better state and would be even a commercial succes
wes8723 Activision wasn't the ones to blame, Torika has admitted they were basically dead regardless. It's a situation similar to Murdered Soul Suspect where the studio was already basically dead and only selling on the level of Call of Duty day one would saved them.

Remember wherever we go it is the blood of caine which makes our fate.
“The glass is cracked, but strangely clear”, the malkavians arent only known for being crazy, the cracked glass here is a reference to the clan (which symbol is a broken mirror), while the strangely clear part comes from their perception of things.
Basically, malkavians trade their sanity for their supernatural foresight which may be constructed from their beehive mind (where the voices come) or... by something else.
The point is, even their “random” crazyness is actually very well thought.
Only a shattered mirror can show the world's true reflections.... all of it's many facets and angles.
I didnt realize how many fantastic voice actors there were in Masquerade. What a treat!
okay, with this line, you 100% summarized my feelings on this game that i couldn't state nearly as intelligently:
"It deliberately overdraws the whole 'neo-gothic nightclub crime and 21st-century debauchery' setting into the extreme without ever making it seem ridiculous, because in its exaggeration it maintains a degree of subtlety"
exactly this!! like, you're thrust into the "World of Darkness" and all the visuals that entails, but a lot of the visuals and settings have a gothic/dark/gritty "feel" to them without everything looking goth and getting "same-y."
even in a game from 2004 the visuals are one of the strongest elements and the art and graphics are so striking. you know that the game designers realized the importance of interesting architecture and were dedicated to that. obviously i could go on and on about the characters and writing as well, but even the visuals really hold their own when it comes to what makes this game so fantastic.
The writing isn't the only point as to why VTM:B is a good and true RPG. Your decisions (in choosing skills, but also dialogue) really have an influence on the game-flow, though it might not be much, and there are different ways to solve some missions, (depending on your skills), making the game more immersiv and adding to its replay-value.Talking about the replay-value, I don't know any game with so much replay-value (though I don't know many games anyway, soooo....) and it's one of the reasons, why I love this game so much.
Few games leave as lasting an impression on me as Masquerades did. I played it for the first time about 5 years ago and I wasn't really expecting what I got. There's something about the story and how it unfolds that pulls you in, and engages you. The dialogue was well written and the characters were memorable. It also, and this is one of the most important things for me, perfectly executed the creepy, dark feel and atmosphere that I'd expect from a vampire game. You can tell how much work and love the creators put into it.
The legend is false i won't reinstall it... cause i never uninstalled it lol , finished the game 3 times already and after this vid probably going to finish for the 4rth !

Jokes on them. This game has a permanent spot on my drive. There should be a version that's right on the motherboard along with the BIOS.
I had always wanted to try this game, but your video finally pushed me after years and years of seeing it on Steam sales and not biting. That said, I'm a Tremere who's blasting fools with blood magic, hacking computers and specializing in beating people down with my fists. Blood shield and punching the shit out of people is really awesome. This games fantastic and I love the characters and exploration.
Thank you Rag. 10 hours in, just climbed on board the boat. Still don't know what "don't open it" means, but I know I'm not supposed to open it. lol.
Taking all my strength to not read a spoiler about the topic.
I'm also using firearms, and they aren't as bad as I expected from what people had said. Maybe the UP9.5 fixed some of that, or maybe I've just stuck enough points in. I took down a few bosses with the glock and shotgun and it wasn't half as painful as I expected.
I have it on Steam but there is a glitch that makes it crash when you start it. A message says your computer doesn't have enough memory to run it. There is a way to fix it but I don't remember how. Perhaps someone else can help. It's very annoying.
+Rayneenights I saw results for how to fix that on google. It should be pinned in the steam discussions area. The games really great so you should try to fix it.
DUDE JUST DONT OPEN IT
krestomantsi I now know what I shouldn't open, and knowing the lore behind it, from what I'm being told, I don't see why I would open it. Tempting though. I just got to Hollywood.
Awesome video. I'm from Belarus and I only know Russian and Belarusian lng. But this video is so cool that I was sitting with an google.translate just to see it. Thank you for this. GG WP
This is game is a pack of everything you'd expect from Troika:
1) Hideous combat
2) Quite a few bad game design decisions
3) A boatload of bugs
4) Sub-par animations
5) A tendency to paint "lefty" factions and individuals in a better light than their "righty" counterparts
and... it is one of the VERY BEST games of all time... because...
6) It has brilliant lean writing (you get as much of plot and lore as you can muster, not too much so that it becomes confusing and overwhelming, not too shallow or scarce so that it becomes cheesy/boring. And if you like the plot, its setting, backgrounds and lore, there's plenty of places/books/conversations to look into for more).
7) NPC's go from remarkable to memorable. The secret is revealed in this video, they are icons of clever social commentary that avoids tasteless pitfalls
8) Great character development
9) Awesome soundtrack
10) But most specially... it puts the player IN THE DRIVER SEAT. I can think of very very VERY few games that do this (and 90% of them were mentioned in this review: Arcanum (the best game ever in this particular respect), fallout 2, Torment, Tyranny (the most recent one)).
Yep this game is a timeless classic.
Tyranny was really good, glad it got a mention here
It wasn't so much that the Anarchs were portrayed better than the Camarilla (lefty and righty don't feel quite right in vampire context btw Damsel is shown as being quite clueless on what the Anarchs really are), Strauss was pretty cool but there were no Camarilla characters. Strauss and Tung were as helpful as anyone but don't get roles, Therese was a Camarilla sympathiser, then that's it. It's the main flaw in the game. Everyone else is an Anarch or may as well be. Damsel and Skelter are portrayed somewhat negatively, and the Anarchs are less interested in coexisting with humans, Nines and Jack are bros but they aren't portrayed as right I would say.
@@Spaced92
I'd say as a "righty" in real life the game doesn't really seem to push for one faction to be right over the others. Some I guess are more fleshed out and well written and yes la croix is an ass. But often the camirlla does have a point even the anarchs agree with. The masquerade. Jack teaches the player this in the tutorial. And the lefty righty stuff, for me, doesn't even seem to fit in a vampire world. As much as the damsel character is trying to make it out to be. It's just vampire politics with real world themes of a power hungry ass hat and people who disagree but are maybe hypocrites themselves. Then you got a bunch of crazies trying to get power for their factions and it turns into a bunch of vampire shenanigans separated from our real world but at the same time extremely relatable.
Imagine projecting your political bias onto a 2004 game lmfao
Disagreed with the 5th point.
I actually appreciated how the game doesn't try to push you towards one faction or the other. It gives you the opportunity to speak with both Camarilla and Anarch members, listen to their points and make your own decision. Both sides praise their own and trash talk the other, it's up to you to draw your conclusions. The Anarchs aren't painted in a better light than Camarilla at all. Nines and Jack help you, but so do Camarilla members like Strauss. In the end, they all probably just want to gain a strong ally and nothing more.
Like Rosa said, you can only trust Mercurio and Beckett. Everyone else, tread carefully.
My friend loves this game and told me about it years ago briefly but I never got into it because I'm not really much of a PC gamer. Seeing this made me more intrigued and The Malkavians have me sold. That sounds so awesomely fun, curious, and fresh! :)
Generally the fans encourage newcomers to first play as another class first before Malkavian as it kind of spoils some of the plot and it's hard to play another faction after.
One of the interesting things about the Malkaviand is that often in their madness there's truth, some of the dialogue options hint at things your character has no way of knowing but that later seem like prophecy that makes perfect sense in hindsight, and sometimes the whispering voices speak the truth and warn you of things to come. Of course other things make no sense, so it is recommended to play another clan first.
Ah... Bloodlines, old favorite. I play it at least once a year, with the newest unofficial patch installed. Can't believe more then a decade has already passed.
Mods are also impressive . Awesome game.

The sequel was just announced. What're your thoughts?
I never played or heard of this game until the new trailer, checking out the original makes me interested.
IM ON THIS HYPE TRAIN
It's either gonna suck so bad or it's gonna be mediocre because Hardsuit labs is developing it. They only made generic first person shooters one of which was f2p that is currently shutdown, Also from what I have seen it seems the developers are more concerned about your characters gender than actual gameplay or story. In conclusion it's gonna be a hit or miss more leaning onto the miss.

Excellently edited, superbly written - a true love letter to the best FPS RPG game of all time. Thanks a ton for the video dude.
Thank you, you're very welcome. :)
Was meaning to write an update for some of the things that still make me come back to Bloodlines every once in a while:
1. Atmosphere - rarely is there a game that makes me forget I am actually playing, but rather, I am inside a living, breathing world that gives me the chills. Bloodlines does this so well through the ambient, the level design, the dialogue, the music... it is just so well made you get lost in it.
2. Music - superb. Start to finish. Every little place tells a different story through its music and my God, the soundtrack is superb. I listen to it even today. So many incredible tracks (Leecher Bitch babeh!)
3. Characters - you covered this pretty well, and I concur on every bloody point.
Whelp, time to reinstall.
"When you mention it... Someone will reinstall it"
6 years later and you still read my mind
Funny that right before you say jokingly "a game that people will reinstall when you mention it" is exactly what I wanted to do. This game is really worth playing again and again. Such a rewarding game experience, especially with it being patched to near perfection.
I love the ending. I love how complicated the branching towards the different endings is.
And I love the ending that really is a slap in the face. It makes me hate myself but feeling proud for hating myself.
Jeanette!
Wrong. It's the finger down your spine.
Truly a game, worthy of many roleplays. There is time for one more.
"legend says every time you mention it someone re-installs it". i'm definitely not doing that right now....
The atmosphere & the music are also BIG, BIG reasons people adore this game. Kinda deserved a mention!
OK now I have to reinstall it.
Yes. Yes you do.
I can't wait for a proper sequel though !
1- Fat larry is identical to CJ from gta san andreas with the right customizations.
2- Warrens and the zombie quest sucks balls.
3- All endings are awesome, they reflect perfectly your choices throughout the game, i don't understand how someone dislike.
4- Tremere are broken as hell.
Also Nice vid.
I personally agree about the endings themselves. The endgame tends to become pretty terrible though.
But during my research I found soooo many cases of people complaining about the ending that I wanted to at least mention the general consensus.
All in all, especially the third half of the game, shows the production time that was cut short the most.
RagnarRox I just saw lots of complaints about the endings in forums, more from people that wanted everything to end the way they wanted or didn't undestood the characters ambitions individually, but i agree with everything you said, the last segment of the game definitely IS very rushed, bad planned low budget stuff, this i can't deny.
I adore this game. Has some of the best writing and acting and quests and...well everything i've ever seen in an RPG.
John Blum - Spike - Cowboy Bebop.
Mary Elizabeth McGlynn - Ecaterina V:tM-R. Major - Ghost in the Shell. Cornelia - Code Geass.
John DiMaggio - Wakka - Final Fantasy X.
I have to give a mention to Dan Woren of V:tM-R (Ardan), who voiced five or more characters in that and probably hundreds of characters in English dubs of anime, and John Rafter Lee.
I feel you bro. I feel what it is that you wanted to say about this game and that is that THERE IS NO GAME LIKE THIS ONE. I played it 13 years ago and now, despite every game on the market right now (and there are lots of good titles) I want to install it and play it again! Beautiful love letter, beautiful video!
I fell in love with this game years ago, occasionally I still play it, and occasionally I listen to the sound track and smile.
new Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines game
WOOOOO
My second favourite game after the Witcher series. Played it 3 or 4 times. The writing, setting, tone, music, everything is just phenomenal. I think only Witcher and can compete with this masterpiece. Way ahead of it's time. A true timeless classic. A work of love, and it shows.
A shame that the Witcher is not a real RPG. He says it in the first couple of minutes.
Lancor84 It's an Action RPG. Mass Effect 1 and 2 are pretty damn good. Morrowind/Skyrim.
I wish games like this and Fallout New Vegas got more popularity and influence in the mainstream
Fallout New Vegas is nowhere near as good as this game and is already MUCH more popular than this in the mainstream.
@@zets8238 where did you see me ask?

@@zets8238 sorry dude was just joking, didn't mean to offend

There is something strange about the way this guy talks. Has anybody else noticed it, too? Sometimes he sounds normal, only to switch to this semi-sarcastic, sort of playful, unserious way of talking in the middle of a sentence. Or is it just me?
Vilém Obrátil Yes. When he does it, it really throws you off, it reminds me of the way people speak when they're talking to infants. I mentioned it on another video of his and he took it really personal... like a child funnily enough.
Other than that, his videos are always interesting and informative.
Maybe it's just covering up an accent and overdoing it.
Fucking Malkavians, man
Yeah was thinking the exact same thing. It sounds really weird. Still, doesn't take away from his excellent videos.
Idk guys.. To me he is just acting a little to flavour the video.. don't get it so seriously...
If thats even possible, I appreciate this game even more since...
Well, you know.
I just realized that Bloodlines is the Firefly of video games.
I've replayed this game at least 5 times already, but I still watch this video to remind myself how great it is
Revisiting this for the upcoming game.
Who's ready for Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2?
Trying to temper my expectations but I am so excited I pre-ordered the most expensive edition lmfao

This was probably the best review I've ever seen of this game. Do you have anything else related to World of Darkness?
PazuzuAzelf he literally said it's not a review.
Thank you for an excellent video love letter to one of my favorite games of all time! You did miss one great attribute, however (and this may have been mentioned elsewhere): the score and the soundtrack. The score perfectly captures the mood at each point in the game, and the addition of artists like Lacuna Coil (this game turned me on to them) and Darling Violetta give it a contemporary (for the time) feel.
Just remembered how much a FREAKING LOVE this game.
As someone who has downloaded an Unofficial Patch today, I was extremely surprised that it has been updated YESTERDAY!!!
meanwhile at Bethesda's Skyrim....terrible voice actors for terrible writing.
Shit main story, shit side infinite quests, shit gameplay, shit voice acting with 3 voice actors repeating lines over and over, shit loot in repetitive dungeons, OP main char and OP Shouts, Free to grind exp forever, no limits, Become a leader of everything and it really doesn't matter, win a final fight by screaming at a shitedgelord dragon...
Install loli and big dicks/tits mod and call it a best RPG ever made.
Fucking gamers today are dumb retards.
Vampire the Masquarade is one of the best RPGs ever made.
I did enjoy the heck out of Skyrim :O its far from a shit game!
"Shit main story" i can understand but m8 wtf you are downplaying the game way too much.
It sold well and received critical acclaim even at launch, when no mods were available.
Lazypackmule I enjoyed universe, music, and lore in Skyrim. I didnt fall for the "marketing", i simply enjoyed the game for ita benefits.
Lazypackmule I just find it stupid to claim that something is "objectiely bad". Such a thing doesnt exist.
I agree that unmodded skyrim is crap and that beth should know better than to rely on the amazing modding community to keep the game alive(wouldnt be surprised if a large chunk of their sales were dependent on the promise that the game would be moddable, especailly with mods having been brought to consoles now) but modded skyrim can be pretty amazing. TES games have always been a jack of all trades sort of games and masters of none. Every game lacked depth in every department, combat, quests etc(although morrowind had many redeeming qualities). But looking at the bigger picture tes games offered just about enough to immerse yourself. At least with the help of mods. The base games could have been much better, at least oblivion and skyrim. No excuse for those, especially skyrim. I can only hope the next installment will have better combat, finally.
I still can't believe no one ever made "Crab nipples" into a meme xD
that bum is a legend, i walk up to that senile bastard everyplay through
Bane Of Kahns I noticed that good games tend to have crazy bums wandering about xD
Yair Barnatan must be some unspoken law
Haha, good writers know the worth of a good bum story, be the bum drunk, high, enraged, or just as a bum being themselves.
+Alex Leatherman Agree. Bums in games is an indicator of a writer's talent!
Most endings, I thought, were brilliant. The whole game I tried to figure out who I could trust and who was just using me. The first play-through really took me by surprise and I had to replay it to see whether I missed any hints. It's great to see then how much insight Malkavians actually have. I was only missing a Sabbat ending, that would have been an interesting choice for Antedeluvian-hunters.
The artistic vision in this can't die.
Is V:tMB flawed? Yes?
Is there such a thing as a game without flaws? No
Games are not good because they have no flaws. They are good, because what they do well is more prominent than the bad. We love and remember those games, because they overwhelm the bad with how good are the polished parts. Vampire may have more bugs than Nosferatu's matress, but what it does good, it does so good you forgive it everything.
Exactly how I feel about Bloodborne
Barbie has no flaws
Change my mind
Until you experience Ming Xao. And then the Executioner guy in bat form. Not to mention there was some really rough and glitchy level design and sometimes just some "wtf am i supposed to do moments?" Still had an amazing time but i had to turn on God mode to finish the last 5-10% of the game with all that BS. Fuck Ming.
@@LesserCheshire my 1000 hours in dark souls games my pride were the only thing preventing me from cheating my way through Ming Xiao. I only had one blood pack. I eventually won though.
It is a great game, old style RPG. I did love to play it. I was a Tremere most of the time.
>"not to spoil anything"
>shows ending seconds later
Every single time I play, I discover something I didn't know before.
For example, in my first two playthroughts I COMPLETELY missed the fact that the annoying human supremacists were hired by a "Priestess" from Chinatown.
My dad is a fan of this game and I played it and I now see why
Sequel announced today!
AWAKEN MY MASTERS
AY AY AY AY
Played (Three times in a row) and loved it, when it came out. Then I feared for getting dissapointed, playing it again and seeing that my memories deceive me, like so often. But it shows, that this game was even better than in my memories! Played it three times again and enjoyed every minute. More than that - In almost any other game, I'm looking forward to the end, to check it off "my list", but in Bloodlines I just want it to last forever ;) - Looking forward to my outstanding Gangrel-Playthrough in a few year. Btw - I love the end(s) of the story and shivers ran down my spine every time I hear Lacuna Coils "Swamped". Thank you. Great video!
Reinstalled.
My uncle used to play the pen and paper version i grew up listening to him talk about it and remember thinking it sounded amazing all the classes all the elements that came together of course its hard for an 8 year old to understand lol it still stuck with me all these years very cool
I keep coming back to this video every now and then. A lot of your videos are so amazingly well done, maybe it's my bias of Larping VTM for 20 years, but may this brings back nostalgia. And that BG Music.
just re-bought it for steam and beat it like for the first time - great game, heavy themes
Вот, блять, тоже пришлось перепроходить. Хорошо, что я ее в стиме два года назад взял :D
Кстати, на стимовскую версию аддон Clan Quest ставится, советую.
Funny how every good points of the games mentioned in this video is completely non-existent in Bethesda games.
Toan Vu Still I love Bethesda games (Except maybe fallout 76)
The patch is 10.7 as I write this. I played 13 hours straight with only one crash the other day. I highly encourage people to get the unofficial community patch and give it a go. :)
I'm trying to play it on steam it won't even start up 😢
This has got to be the best intro to a video I have ever had the pleasure of viewing
And 6 years later, it is still going strong.
