    What an amazing guy. It took me hours to carve a simple spoon and he does a better job in just a couple of minutes. Thanks for uploading

    Man am I lucky I got some of that bark, it made a great cup and the Raven hanging from my mirror in the Jeep. Funny that may have been from 14 years ago, but when he carved a face for us in the summer of 2013 he was just as fast. Great knife skills, I have a long way to go.

    Amazing carving and the material.. we have Black poplar here in Europe but they’re never this large or have that kind of bark

    Amazing! We have black cottonwood (Populus trichocarpa) where I am, very similar. I'm excited to try some of this!

    for those cutting toward their chest: keep the POINT of the knife away from you, and keep your wrist torqued so your thumb points straight ahead, not to the other side. This puts the meat of the base of your thumb between your knife and you and makes it impossible to cut yourself. (Mors is already doing this).

    What brand of knife are you using to carve with? I have never seen carving knifes like those.

      It is a Mora Knife, the Erickson style.

      ***** Mors your a genius i saw your segment on 'on the road again' in 88 and went out that day and built a shelter i was 8 ,,you have influenced many people and are a hero to many....like myself ! cheers from New Brunswick !

      Here come the "safety" ninjas. Title of the video must be "Knife safety". True "experienced" whittlers carve toward themselves all the time but do so safely as learned from real experience.
