I think it playing with Pentumbra almost every time makes it seem inaudible and too quiet I think it sounds okay at the very start when it plays when it's the only time you hear it on its own
Ok, time to give my personal review, considering everyone seems to be too negative on this wave despite everyone playing themselves with how soon the update was actually going to occur. Pentumbra is beyond amazing, an absolutely incredible vocalist that adds so much to the song, which despite how much Vhenshun adds I’m tempted to say Petumbra adds more. I would like to mention that I like how Petumbra isn’t JUST a vocalist, with slight jeeode sounds playing alongside it, just something so minor yet simple that adds more to the song in the long run And X’rt? As a surprise to everyone, i personally consider it an amazing inclusion. It has such a unique sound that doesn’t play too much as to where it becomes overly annoying (which I feel like it COULD do fairly easily) but also doesn’t play too little that it seems like a useless addition. I have already easily warmed up to this monster, I weirdly find it’s design cute in its own way and it works well to show how unstable these ethereals are supposed to be. On another minor note, people hate on piplash too much, it plays in a single verse sure, but adds a significant amount to said verse to make it feel less empty and more lively. I feel like people have set their expectations too high with workshop, expecting every monster like on release to have several tracks that develop the song. This song is already my 2nd favourite island, so I’m already satisfied with the island despite not even being done, but it doesn’t mean that everyone else will understand why these monsters work. Yes, even X’rt, this island keeps hitting the home runs with new sounds!
X’rt may sound off putting at first but try to imagine him as an instrument like a tuba or bass then it is much easier to understand what he is trying to do. Whether or not its executed right is the question but I see the idea

X'rt is Wheezel 2.0, in that it's a really awesome design with a gross bass-y mouth sound that compliments the song surprisingly well, but doesn't play half as much as it should.
X'rt... exists. Pentumbra is pretty cool! Everyone was expecting the shadow quad to be some nightmare fueling thing, but I kinda like the cute critter who's spooked by their own shadow. I also like how they might also be a Pikmin reference. I choose to believe they are because yes.
Y'all are acting like X'rt killed your grandma, bombed your house, and murdered your dog. It's literally just a burping noise thats barely audible in the full song, which barely even ruins it. So, if you have a problem with it you can either MUTE the monster *OR* just not get it. 😱😱😱😱

I feel like part of the reason why this wave feels lacking to some people is because of how people let themseleves down when they didnt get workshop every Wednesday, and some of the hype died once we realized it wouldn't come during Egg-Stravaganza Also people think X'rt does nothing and they are partially right
With the previous waves, we didn't have a pattern and were just really excited when they dropped on us by surprise. But with this wave (and wave 5 on June 19th) people know when it'll come and they just want it earlier, and especially when one monster doesn't play the whole time or doesn't have a huge effect, they anticipate it too much and expect more

Imo X'rt is a very nice trasnition/filler monster and Pentumbra is a great vocal monster who adds a lot to the previously smaller sections with just Yoreek and Gadzooks

That's exactly what I'm saying, man. Just because a monster doesn't live up EXACTLY to your expectations, and doesn't have the sound of a whole damn orchestra, doesn't mean it's "horrible" and "song ruining". People really need to leave this spoiled brat mentality behind, and enjoy the smaller, atmospheric sounds in music creation.
I think Shady Long-Legs will finally end the vocal/instrumental debate. Or, it(?) will exacerbate it. Because, technically its shadow is its instrument, but it’s clearly voices being heard X’rt, on the other hand… very unique

It’s okay imo, they sound good but they are too quiet and don’t add a whole lot, I have a feeling that the next waves are gonna do the same and the song is gonna be stuck in this state
But at the same time Ethereal Workshop does still feel complete and good in the state that it’s in and the monsters weren’t too quiet, they were audible, plus the Quad did add quite a lot tbh

Doesn't add up. Mimic wouldn't have been able to get into Zarroë's head, nor does mimic have the ability to manipulate shadows. And it doesn't explain how you obtain the monster either. I'm pretty sure that Mimic's elements aren't Plasma, Shadow, Crystal, and Poison! :3
My Headcanon: Pentumbra might be the friend of Mimic since they both mimic Monsters, while X'rt, his breath doesn't affect Beefkin and D'Doode (my oc's), they can easily defeat X'rt by pinching the webbing of his ears and throwing Flasque's bottles at him.

This is probably the most lackluster and boring EW update. Pentumbra is fine, but X'rt barely does anything, and quite frankly, even Nitebear is better.
