Hey Abraham I’m an X-ray tech and I worked a long time around your dad in Tomball. Just checking up on him to see how y’all are doing since he got laid off. Your dad is a very very very good welder! Tell him I said “Todo Bueno”!! Lol he knows
@@abrahamjasmine thanks for replying. I got much love for your dad! He is a good dude! He always went out of his way to come say hello to me no matter what. Ask him who is the (todo bueno thumbs up 👍 guy) lol
I think he had the order of color wrong, it starts shiny silver then gold, then straw, then blue and purple... I think he welded that first pass on the edge so the heat had nowhere to go... he let it cool and his 2nd pass picked up oxides from the first weld, thats why it was blue on that side... but I gotta give it to him, some excellent techniques 👏👍
That's how I thought it worked but why didn't it go back to blue at any point after the gold welds if that is how it works? It just transitioned into red colors as it got hotter.
I've never struck an arc with a tig rig but weldtube gives me the confidence to try. Everlast Christmas present to myself coming soon. New angles, new opportunities, new money.
The sch 80 pipe is cheating a little.. But the color is affected by cleanliness, temp amps/travel, gas coverage wide and low is better than narrow and fast, and the filler metal.. some alloy filler metal are just crap.. you can keep the same setting, change filler and get different results..
I recently work with stainless stell pipe, mostly thin pipe like sch 20 to sch 40, when doing welding on flange the color is show up but when welding on the pipe joint there is no color, jist dark grey, still figured it out why
how is it you are getting less and less heat affected welds when welding over the same hot area? i wish someone could teach me how to walk the dog to get these welds, i have a test for 3" nom 304 pipe with a 1/16 gap but my weld was greyish and not good , idk if it was the metal or im just not good standing and trying to weld this out of position as i said perhaps if i knew the dog trick it would be a better weld
I’ve actually been having problems welding lately. On my most recent job I’ve been doing mostly stainless, schedule 10, and a lot of small diameter. I suppose it’s important that I mention I am still fairly new in the field. I tend to get deep reds in my welds which tells me I’m very near burning the stainless up. The problem is, sometimes I get it even when I strike up on a cold pipe. My coworkers say it’s because my tungsten isn’t out far enough and I’m moving too slow. Do you have any thoughts or anything to add to the reasons I’m getting these colors?
Nice consistency man you got that golden arm! I'm practicing on plate right now, in that frustrating learning phase, many many hours to go. Eventually it'll click hopefully! Your guys tips have been very helpful
@@mrillis9259 It's like riding a bicycle, when you get that motion down it's all muscle memory. Unfortunately I went Aerospace and there is no walking the cup due to the scratching of base material.
Important info to understand what your metal is doing as the heat goes up. Great video and beautiful consistent welds. Are the colour changes evident in all metals when welding or only on stainless steel?
Great video but the fact that your on XS pipe and larger bore helps tremendously with color… we need one of how to maintain proper color on 2 ,3,4 inch school 10 stainless lol that’s where the lord’s work is done… 🙏
Believe it or not I worked for ETS in a fab shop all stainless and exotic metals, never touched a tig rig, I was a helper then slowly learned how to tack, then I was a tacker then learned how to throw a root in stainless and kept moving forward and now I struggle to learn stick, I can throw a root w 6010 but it ain’t all that slick, detailed tutorial? Root-Cap 6010/7018 ?
The way you angle you’re rod , whipping pattern being consistent and amps when I was in high school my teacher told me to whip it and hold In the puddle for one second then go out , keep you’re eyes at the weld I had the bad habit of watching the rod leave then would loose my straight line
Hello. My name is Sasha. I'm from London. I like your approach to teaching. But you always miss the point. And the main thing is when you need to show the wire feed manually. How to hold the wire in your hands. Position of legs and body. And the most important thing is the manipulation of the hand. And it would be nice to show it all in one video and close-up. I hope that many beginner welders will be grateful to you. Thank you for understanding.
@@kf8575 Thank you; I can see it now. I didn't know about the gold lens. Now that I have tried it, I can also see the colors of the HAZ through my auto lens, although that requires a fine adjustment of shade level, which is hard to guess without testing.
So grey and purple and blue , are not a favorite color , but do they pass the X-ray Or grey a sign of poor welding besides a ugly non favorite color for a cap ??
It will pass xray, but if it’s burnt to much you will lose nickel content which is what aids in the corrosion resistance of stainless. Which basically defeats the purpose of using stainless to begin with.
well lets do it on a 1 inch sch 40 stailess steel pipe ,, from 6 o clock to 12 o clock with a regular machine just dc machine out on the field lets go lets say a clasic 300 lincols diesel ????
Как вариант - от перегрева шва может скользить. А так - есть способ - на лепестковом круге на болгарке поточи немного торец сопла, только на небольшой скорости, скользить перестанет

I am also a welder and love your videos.
Hey brother, thats some awesome techniques your using, love the quality👍
I just found your channel. You guys are awesome, keep making movie quality videos.
Great experiment, respect!
Also travel speed matters - you go faster and color's gets nicer
Awesome finished product man.
High amps, giving high travel speed, gives lower heat input.
Caps coming out dark? Crank the amps and travel speed up👍
How do I step out further with my weave? My weaves are always really tight
