Listening to this chant and translating the words of it remind me all the time why I find the devotion of the loyalist Astartes to the Emperor more meaningful than that of the Chaos Astartes to the Ruinous Powers. The Chaos Gods are powerful beyond question, and even I admit that they can be worthy of terror and awe, but they are merely animalistic forces in the Universe. They are solely devoted to the interests of their self-preservation: if sacrificing their followers in the billions would help to feed their appetite for souls that all Warp-entities subsist on, they would do so without hesitation or remorse. The Emperor on the other hand is more complex. His motivation is not his own self-preservation: if it was he would have never revealed himself to humanity, spending his life in hiding. Rather he has accepted the burden of guiding an entire species to a future where they could live without fear of ravenous xenos or daemons encroaching on them. On that path he made mistakes, for as mighty as he is he is still human, but he never abandoned that goal. He endured the pain of having half his sons betray him for those mistakes and turn on one another, and throughout his life saw horrors that no mortal should ever witness. Yet on the brink of death, his final release from the pain of existence that all faced in those times, he interred himself on the Golden Throne to endure millennia of psychic torment to keep the Warp at bay and hold together the fragile Imperium he built through the light of the Astronomicon. He continues to endure such pain, along with the pain of witnessing his Imperium relapse into superstition, corruption, and tyranny, and yet still he goes on, never giving up hope that one day himself or one of his sons would return to guide humanity once again to ultimate victory over the foes that would seek its demise. Though he is not an infallible god of limitless strength, the Emperor alone has proven himself worthy of mankind’s loyalty, for no so-called god could be capable of the selflessness found in sacrificing themselves for the protection of a single species that many could deem unworthy of salvation. Praise be to the Emperor, the greatest of Men, our leader, our mentor, our champion. Edit: Wow, I’m glad you guys liked this! I’m not a hardcore tabletop demi-god of the dice, but I do enjoy the complexity and nuance of the universe. It can really highlight the best and worst of human nature...And also power-armored warrior-monks are cool too...
The kicker is that cause the emperor is a perpetual he could have stopped at any time and be fine in a couple days. Course if he did that humanity probably wouldn’t survive the time in between his death and rebirth.

Very true, I think that's because the stories presented in 40k and other fictional universes are so archetypal, stories of treachery, stoicism and heroics that resonate with us on a deep level.
I recognise this hymn. I have heard it countless times, uttered from the lips of my former mentor Chaplain a thousand times over. Centuries pass, heroes die and new ones rise to take their place, but the hymn goes on, and Mankind endures. "Quem in mundi pretium, corporis mysterium fructus ventris generosi ex intacta Virgine." And knowing he was partly responsible for the Imperium of Man's current state in the 41st millennium. When you think about it the Emperor never told anyone about the Forces of Chaos, especially his Primarchs which undoubtedly led to the Horus Heresy (though it should've been called the Lorgar Heresy since the Word Bearers Primarch was the first to be corrupted before he instigated events that led to the Heresy).
@@NakedSnake1836 I strongly think that he was intending to conquer the milk way entirely before chaos can mount any sort of resistance which to a degree is true, the ruinous powers hence changed their tactics to a more subtle form of halting the great crusade:treachery which the seeds of this were already sowed ( the emperor not telling the legions doing most of the conquering about the possibility of running into the ruinous powers) and of course chaos taking advantage of not only Lorgar but Maguns, Mortarion, and the red angel himself, angron. It's pretty clear that during the great crusade chaos had no foot hold in the galaxy, I mean yeah Cadia when the emperor's children re discovered it and the planet the blade of laer was found. But whatever foot hold chaos did have in the galaxy prior to the great crusade was devastated by the emperor's forces himself purging entire star systems of aliens, mutants and chaos influenced tribes of humans or aliens who were oppressing humans and using them as slaves and more putridly cattle or as sacrifices to the dark gods. This strongly suggests that the emperor was counting on a very swift crusade to reunite mankind ( see Ullanor great crusade battle) and chaos had no other choice but to use a more subtle strategy as opposed to relying on whatever aliens/mutants/humans they had either directly or indirectly influenced.
[and loop] It's part of a chant created by one of the most inteligent catholic monks in history, St.Thomas of Aquinas. The chant is called "SING, oh TONGUE". + Catholic Faith + I get goosebumps everytime we are singing this on chorus 10 people while venerating the Inmortal God-Emperor who died and resurrected for our sins, and is now present.
Our legion listens to this during our travels through the warp. Calms the nervers and makes you forget about how your ship could be easily destroyed by the daemons outside of the hull.
A Gregorian chant during the clamour of battle. Set against the clash of steel and the thunderous drum of bolters and artillery. The airless cry of the flamer and the voiceless scream of the plasma rifle as they roast heretics and Xenos in their armour and vehicles. The marching doom of the dreadnought and the rumble of tank treads as we march upon the battlefield. What sounds better than a Gregorian chant? A Gregorian chant, steady and faithful, in the chaos of the battlefield.
Praise be the Emperor, for we walk before His Immortal shadow. Praise be the Emperor, whose hand stretches the far reaches of the cosmos, of the Void, and beyond Praise be the Emperor, whose eyes sees all upon His domain. Praise be the Emperor, whose Angels vigilantly guard and guide our realms. Praise be the Emperor, for His armies endure and persist against the evils of our infinite enemies Glory Be to the God-Emperor of Mankind! He who sits upon Terra! Upon His Golden Throne! Long may He Reign! Long may He Rule! Long may He Protect! And until His second coming, We Shall Know No Fear!
I imagine if the Emperor were truly revived again, he'd be disgusted at the Imperium's current state (Twisting the Imperial Truth into the Imperial Cult being the most prominent). But we can only serve Him the only way we know how: To walk softly and carry a big gun. Emperor, give me strength.
I think the most frightening part of the Emperor lies in the fact that, based on what we know of him? He would hate that... and then do nothing to tear it down any time soon. Being 'The God Emperor' simply has too much use for him to abandon until he is sure mankind is secure in the galaxy. Chaos on the back foot, Eldar hiding in the cracks of the galaxy, Orks and Tyranids thrown back into the darkness, Necrons confined to their petty ancient holdings. (Tau wouldn't likely register to him they're just too small scale.) Then and only then could I see him start to pear back the religious fanaticism somewhat. It's so ludicrously handy it gives him his own demons and greater demons for crying out loud! (that would be Legion of the Damned and Living Saint's respectively) Same with the Mechanus, he'd likely leverage his 'Omnissah' status to shove advancements down their throats and force-ably cut down on the individual hording of knowledge. He'd hate it the entire time, but he'd do it. The most disturbing part of the Emperor is his inhuman ability to both have empathy, compassion and benevolence, while also being a ruthless pragmatist who acts purely on what he believes is best for the human species. (And worse, he clearly can be wrong, can make terrible mistakes in judgement.) It might be a plan another ten thousand years in the making, but he'd slowly tear down the rotting carcass, the twisted mockery of the Imperium he wanted, and make a new one. Without destroying the entire structure in the process. (No matter how many trillions would suffer to see it done.) The Chaos God's brilliant gambit to keep him near helpless STILL wasn't enough to win after thirteen black crusades and ten thousand years after all.
thing is, the Emperor IS a god. He IS a psychic entity that is a de-facto warpgod. And since all gods gain power through devotion, what other choice does he have than to BE said god? It´s a paradoxon and a vile twist in itself but it is what it is.
wow...this is just....wow....this encapsulates everything that 40k is. That you will toil amongst endless billions so that the Imperium might march on. That the Angels of Death may bring their fury down upon the enemies of man. How much has been lost in 10,000 years. That even tho Guilliman is back, the Imperium will hardly change. That the whole galaxy wants our heads. But if the Imperium is to die, it shall not go silently into the night.
"Brother spoke the four as one, together we shall rule, Surrender to the Darkness within your heart you know holds true.' In his hand the Sword of Khaine did promise power untold, As God of Light and God of Murder battled for his soul.' One by one the Daemons fell and Elf Lord he stood tall, For should he fail upon his task then mortal world would fall.' Upon the isle beneath the fight, wise mages cast their spells And Daemon minions howled in anguish, cursed to eternal hell.' And on this day we bow our heads to he who world did save, Aenarion the Proud Defender, Aenarion the Ever Brave."

You are right and not right. Empyrium even it its current state (it is in the shithole) is much more developed thing than nowadays humanity. Empyrium is united so there is no racism and other shit (not sure about homophobia) and actually it is able to fight all horrors of the dark universe so its much safer to live in empyrium then now I guess.

The Imperial Catechism I Deny The Ruinous Powers; I will not suffer the Witch, the Mutant or the Heretic to live. May the Repentant be wrought in Saving Flames. I Believe in the God-Emperor, Him on Terra, who United Mankind under his auguring quest, and Ventured on the Great Crusade. I Believe in the God-Emperor, Who was Betrayed by Horus, the Favoured Son and afterwards the Thousandfold Cursed. I Believe in the God-Emperor, who Ascended the Golden Throne, to Guide and Protect Humanity, and gave His Divine Mandate to the High Lords of Holy Terra, so that they may rule until His return and in His Name, of which the sweetest of hymns are made. I Believe in the Imperial Creed, and all the Imperial Laws, and I swear upon the Golden Throne itself to Abide by them. I Believe in the Might and Righteousness of the Imperium; in the bravery of its defenders and the loyalty of its citizens. I Believe in the Community of Humanity, all united in the love and care of the God-Emperor, Him on Terra, who watches over us as we work and pray. His is the Name of Order and Justice, His is the Reign of Glory. Ours is the Gift of His Providence. We give thanks in the Milliards every day, so that His Heritage may Endure until the day He comes Again, of which the sweetest of hymns are made. We sing His Praise in the Basilikas and on the Fields of Battle on a Million Unknown Worlds. Amen.

An ancient ctholic chant which were made to the REAL EMPEROR OF MAN. Good analogy, WH40k!! It's sad to figure out that we are far from the real religion to prefer a game one. dsnt matt, 40k still amazes us.
From the Astra Militarum to the Deptus Astarties, in the holy light he leads me on and my loyalty strong, and the fears gone from my enemy. I shall rise from ash, fight without fear, server my emperor proud and never loose a foot of ground, I shall march through the valley of death and with my brothers I shall see another day through. I am the sheild, I am the sword, I am a Guardsman, the fate of mankind ends is on our doorstep, and we shall not falter, we shall not stop, we shall die for our homes and fight till our breaths are no longer.
The Emperor sacrificed everything to save humanity from the consuming maw of Chaos and now us, His children, must continue to stand firm in the path he set us on. The Imperium will forever stand as a shining light in the darkness, heretics tremble at his name and flee in fear of his everlasting might.
Your caution with your disclaimer is noteworthy, though I wish it unnecessary for the heresies implied. Regardless, a fine show of Imperial Paranoia. Leave not a single crack in the walls of your fortress, less your foes use it to climb them.

We are one with the Emperor, ours souls are joined in his will. Praise the Emperor whose sacrifice is life as ours is death.

Praise be the Emperor, whose hand stretches the far reaches of the cosmos, of the Void, and beyond
Praise be the Emperor, whose eyes sees all upon His domain.
Praise be the Emperor, whose Angels vigilantly guard and guide our realms.
Praise be the Emperor, for His armies endure and persist against the evils of our infinite enemies
Glory Be to the God-Emperor of Mankind!

Upon His Golden Throne!

Long may He Protect!
And until His second coming, We Shall Know No Fear!

This is by far the best thing on the internet
I imagine if the Emperor were truly revived again, he'd be disgusted at the Imperium's current state (Twisting the Imperial Truth into the Imperial Cult being the most prominent). But we can only serve Him the only way we know how: To walk softly and carry a big gun.
Emperor, give me strength.
The Emperor protects...
Just look at how Guilliman reacted when he saw the imperium after waking up. I think it will be similar if emps wakes up, but magnified 10x.
(And worse, he clearly can be wrong, can make terrible mistakes in judgement.)
It might be a plan another ten thousand years in the making, but he'd slowly tear down the rotting carcass, the twisted mockery of the Imperium he wanted, and make a new one. Without destroying the entire structure in the process. (No matter how many trillions would suffer to see it done.) The Chaos God's brilliant gambit to keep him near helpless STILL wasn't enough to win after thirteen black crusades and ten thousand years after all.
Life is the Emperor's currency, Brother; spend it well.
thing is, the Emperor IS a god. He IS a psychic entity that is a de-facto warpgod. And since all gods gain power through devotion, what other choice does he have than to BE said god? It´s a paradoxon and a vile twist in itself but it is what it is.
No pity! no remorse! no fear!
For Dorn! For the Emperor!
They shall know no fear!
For Macragge ! For the Emperor!
For the glory of the First Legion, and the glory of him on Terra!
wow...this is just....wow....this encapsulates everything that 40k is.
Rise Brothers. Our time is coming once more.
In Him is our faith, in Him our salvation.

"Brother spoke the four as one, together we shall rule, Surrender to the Darkness within your heart you know holds true.'
In his hand the Sword of Khaine did promise power untold, As God of Light and God of Murder battled for his soul.'
One by one the Daemons fell and Elf Lord he stood tall, For should he fail upon his task then mortal world would fall.'
Upon the isle beneath the fight, wise mages cast their spells And Daemon minions howled in anguish, cursed to eternal hell.'
And on this day we bow our heads to he who world did save, Aenarion the Proud Defender, Aenarion the Ever Brave."
Every time i listen, i feel like the emperor himself is watching over me.

Emperor....be my Light
I hope one day our Emperor will come at last to led us to the conquest of stars.
I don't. If it turns out we're living in the 40k timeline, we're fucked. It's a nice universe to observe from the outside, but to live in it would be a cosmic joke of the cruelest sort indeed.
Finally, someone was enlightened by the Emperor to make a 10-hour version.
Glory to the god emperor
Emperor be praised!
For the Emperor of mankind
Venerate the immortal Emperor

This song resonates the whole 40k universe. It generates feelings of grim-dark. Not white, not black, but a dreary, dull grey. Struggling just to keep alive; but never thrive.
Faith is my shield!
The Imperial Catechism
I Deny The Ruinous Powers; I will not suffer the Witch, the Mutant or the Heretic to live.
Amen.

Listening to this makes you wanna enter the universe and fight the horrors that the imperium are facing, even you can only be a guardsman, to protect mankind and help them to endure this dark period. Mankind are suffering and facing extinction and it’s up to us to help them go through all of these turmoil.

Also, this track sound like if it was actually the end of the world.
The end? No, not yet. We’re stuck with worse for just a little longer.
An ancient ctholic chant which were made to the REAL EMPEROR OF MAN. Good analogy, WH40k!! It's sad to figure out that we are far from the real religion to prefer a game one. dsnt matt, 40k still amazes us.

Amazing by the way, thanks for this extra long version. It's nice to listen to while painting or writing.
Emperor protects!
Blessings upon you brothers.
There is only the Emperor and he is our shield and protector!
For though the time is dark, my faith in the holy Emperor shines all the brighter, for I know, that his will will prevail. Emperor protects.
The Emperor sacrificed everything to save humanity from the consuming maw of Chaos and now us, His children, must continue to stand firm in the path he set us on. The Imperium will forever stand as a shining light in the darkness, heretics tremble at his name and flee in fear of his everlasting might.
Get out of here Sounds Of The Ocean, I'm dreaming of the Emperor tonight!
Your caution with your disclaimer is noteworthy, though I wish it unnecessary for the heresies implied.
Regardless, a fine show of Imperial Paranoia. Leave not a single crack in the walls of your fortress, less your foes use it to climb them.
My four favourite Warhammer quotes:
"I tread the path of Righteousness. Though it be paved with broken glass, I shall walk it barefoot; though it crosses rivers of fire, I will pass over them; though it wanders wide, the light of the Emperor guides my step."
- Confessor Dolan of Chiros - "Sermon on the road to Gathalamor", Warhammer 40,000
Our thoughts light the Darkness that others may cross space.
We are one with the Emperor, ours souls are joined in his will.
Praise the Emperor whose sacrifice is life as ours is death.
Hail his name the Master of Mankind.
- Credo Astronomicon, Warhammer 40,000
There is only the Emperor,
and he is our Shield and Protector.
- Warhammer 40,000
"No world shall be beyond my rule, no enemy shall be beyond my wrath."
- The Immortal God-Emperor of All Mankind, Warhammer 40,000
