  • "Human Flow" is a moving, sweepingly cinematic documentary look at the global refugee crisis directed and produced by world-renowned artist and activist Ai Weiwei. Captured over the course of an eventful year in 23 countries, the film follows a chain of urgent human stories that stretches across the globe in countries including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, France, Greece, Germany, Iraq, Israel, Italy, Kenya, Mexico and Turkey. The film is a witness to its subjects and their desperate search for safety, shelter and justice: from teeming refugee camps to perilous ocean crossings to barbed-wire borders; from dislocation and disillusionment to courage, endurance and adaptation; from the haunting lure of lives left behind to the unknown potential of the future.

I am sorry for the crisis with refugees but I think countries that are expected to take in refugees should take care of their own citizens first. I live in Canada and we have homelessness, hunger etc, I know not on the scale of people running for their lives but feel we need to take care of Canadians first by making sure every Canadian has a roof over their heads, food, free medical and medicine, we do get free medical but have to buy medicine which some people can't afford, free education meaning university, college should be free. There is so much more we should be doing for Canadians before helping anyone else. We should not be in debt and since we are we shouldn't be paying money to help other countries. Take care of your own country first and foremost.

Ai's point can be quite naive and superficial. The immigration problem is way more complicated than just "share". The film itself it's beautiful and meaningful though. But as an artist, it's not enough just present the problem. He can and he should use this as an opporiunity to dig more and give a few good solutions/examples.
