dope vid bro, 1. Wes 2. plugin alliance 3. genozoix honorable mention is the TDR. But this video really proves Stock and free plugins can get you out the hood. Besides minor low and top end differences all these sound top tier.

I'll be honest the Wesaudio does sound really good imo, on the first run I listened to it and thought hmm that sounds really nice and then I saw that it was the 3000$ one and thought ah, makes sense :) hopefully that meant my ears were less manipulated by the cost and more so by the sound.
after the wesaudio I would say the kotelnikov is a crazy value, especalliy free :) sounds really good and honestly comes close to the wesaudio. the ableton compressor honestly sounds very good too, awesome for a stock plugin imo. the SSL comp also is up there, never heard of cenoziox but I liked that one too, bit less tight on the kick but still very good.
all the ones I named bring the high synth and snare more up front and make the kick pop more, give it more low end, and make it sound tigher ( in varying degress ofc ) the ones that were less good at that were the softube, unisum, busterse, molot, and toneboosters imo. it's easy to hear in the kick, it falls apart more, more loose and floppy. also in the high end ofc it just becomes less pronounced again in varying degrees. this is my professional amateur at home opinion so real pros will maybe not agree with everything :')
as a beginner I would say, just get the kotelnikov, they also have other great plugins and if you can get em for free it's a no brainer.

Wes was so good. Plugins: Molot, Kotelnikov, Unisum & Bettermaker (And Ableton’s Glue aka The Glue by Cytomic as the best native). SSL was the least "punchy", Tone Boosters was nice, but very clean.

For my taste and my ears ….and based on 2 factors “cohesion and vibe” that the bus brings in, the top 3 would be; SSL, tone projects and it’s a tie for the 3rd place with TDR MOLOT and Tone boosters!
PS; wish you had “the Glue” from CYTOMIC as a contender!

I feel like I like the sound of the Softube bus compressor the best out of all of them. Seemed punchy and weighty. Next was the ableton glue compressor.I also really liked the Buster se. I have no idea which sounded the worst to me though.

Would have loved to hear them on real rock drums and not those weird beats, Just slamming the hell them with a 4:1 ratio medium to fast attack and fast release, so we could actually hear the "SSL" sound, and how the comps perform when working and not just tickling a beat that 2% of producers would actually use. Thanks for the video though! 🙂
