When he said " why Shiva is not so popular" I was like 'come again' I think within India (and outside India , in pre iskcon times) Shiva is widely popular with innumerous names! Shaivism is not so popular in media and western world, but among commoners Shiva is very popular, but Shaivism is not very vibrant and too outspoken kind of thing, it's very docile, calm, more like a quest or search for oneself ! The followers are very brave hearted, determined, also very generous, utmost simplicity, less talking, kind off secluded people but always wishing good for the society and participating in charity. Initially you may find them arrogant, argumentative but Most are very accepting and when they open up you see kindness overflowing from their heart!
No actually shaivism is highly popular in south, nepal and bali.
Shaivism isn't much promoted because the bhakti style is different but due to iskcon krishna ji bhakti got popular in media and north india otherwise in south and other places shiva still stands at the top but it's fine both are one and same infact in other cultures Krishna is considered as avatar of maa kaali .

@@jaydutta7711 I have read Upanishads I know such basic stuff but what you have said is true according to Vaishnavas only because as per shaivites and lingayats adishakti is the source and every other god is the Avatar or expansion of it.

We Vaishanvites aren't from different religions, we are infact the majority of Hindus that holding Hinduism in international level. Your Linggayyats only exists in India and they consider lord Shiva to be Supreme, not Adishakti. What I have said is not only true according to Vaishnavas but for all sects of Sanatan Dharma because Vedas and Bhagvad-Gita says that every other god is the Avatar or expansion of Parabrahman Narayana.

@@sagnaik I think you are thinking wrong then because Shiva is not the most followed idol in India, it is Lord Rama and Lord Krishna who is the most followed Hindu God even outside of India. Shiva is only limited to Uttar Pradesh and some parts of South India like Karnataka which is Lingam-crazy. Lord Rama is about self discovery, but I agree with this that Shiva is less organized unlike (Vishnu/Rama) and more faith/enlightenment.

But in many places wherever you dig the most common thing found was shivalinga is most ancient worship than all forms of god. Krishna came in dwaparyuga . Krishna did not have any temple before dwaparyuga. Only vishnu had temples before but not more than shivalinga found in the worlds.

When we start to look at all the stories as a whole,, we will certainly come to this conclusion that the whole existence of anything at any time is the combination of these three. Mahakal(Aadiyogi)-Mahakali(Aadishakti)& Lord Vishnu(Hari).

In Nepal I think Mahadev is the most popular and most worshipped if you go to pashupatinath temple even on any random day it will be so pack and In mahashiv ratri it's packed and so crowded.... Its happens with every shiv mandir .....

Mahadev means chief of all deities, not God.. because Devraj Indra, Surya Dev, Chandra Dev, Agni Dev, Varun Dev, Kaam Dev, Mrityu Dev, Samudra Dev and even Pavan Dev are not actually God, they are deities of Hinduism, and lord Shiva is on top among them... Only Supreme God Narayana is the God of multiverse universe. Supreme GOD Vishnu is described as an eternal ultimate form & as formless at the same time in Vedas.

Absolutely, without Adi Shakti Lord Shiva is just a shava, a dead body. But, Goddess Adi Shakti without Lord Shiva is always complete, but she is in her Devi Kali form! which is her raw form. Only destruction everywhere. Without Shiva, which is the awareness or the pure consciousness Adi Shakti cannot regain back control over her destructive nature. Hence, creation isn't possible further! Since Balaji or Narayana/Lakshmi is associated with wealth and comfort they have become more popular and also the marketing by Vaishnava groups are als a big factor. Look at ISKCON they spend so much money on their designs and even belittle other deities. People put more wealth and visit Tirumala and other Vishnu temples bcoz of the superstitious belief that they'll get it many folds back. Of course their costumes ar very rich which easily attracts people in modern era.

We equated spiritual practices of Hinduism with Greek stories and call them "mythology" and no one in converted greek Orthodox church was there to debate over it. Words matter.
many people don't know shakti is the female form of Narayan, when its with lord shiva its called shakti but when its free form its called prakriti. when shiva had shakti its called par brahma (divine power on multiverse). remember mass (brahma) and energy (Narayan+ shakti) changed from one form to another but its not ever affect space and time which both are linked to same entity(lord shiva).

And for your information, Lord Vishnu don't worship Shiva, only few of his human incarnations did worshipped Shiva, for the sake of formalities. So don't spread false information about supreme God Vishnu... You don't even know why Daksha was been punished. Daksha wasn't punished for differentiating Shiva and Vishnu, he was punished due to obstructing the union of Mother Sati and Mahadev/Shiva. First go and read Shiv Purana before you comment. Daksha was not a Vishnu devotee, he was a *Shakta* who used to worship Maa Aadishakti. And that's why Maa Aadishakti was impressed by his devotion and gave him a boon that she is going to incarnate on earth as his daughter to marry lord Shiva. And after some time an incident happened, lord Shiva cut off the fifth head of lord Brahma, which was creating evil forces that were harmful for the universe, and hence lord Bramha requested lord Shiva to cut off his fifth head which got out of his control already and was influencing him from inside. So lord Shiva helped lord Brahma by cutting it off. But Prajapati Daksha on the other hand, was not impressed by this move of lord Shiva. He felt insulted for his father one head loss and started to hate lord Shiva. And finally when he remembered and realised that Aadishakti was born as his daughter and was soon going to marry lord Shiva. He tried his best to stop *Sati* his daughter _(the first incarnation of Aadishakti)_ from marrying lord Shiva for revenge purpose. And hence he shifted to lord Vishnu from being a devotee of Aadishakti from the past, and started insulting lord Shiva which caused his daughter _(the incarnation of Aadishakti)_ to commit suicide, that's why he was punished by lord Shiva's avatar Veer Bhadra.

Krishna is considered to be God itself (Brahman) in human form whilst the devi devta are Brahman's first creations. It's similar to you are you fully but your child is a part of you. Your child isn't fully you but it has a piece of you in it because you made it. Similarly Brahman put his whole consciousness in its avatars, like Krishna, hence Brahman itself was born in human form to do work on Earth whilst the devi devta, us, basically every creation in this world and the others have a piece of Brahman but we are not wholly Brahman. Hence the saying Tat Tvam Asi in The Vedas, which everyone should read because it goes into depth about who Brahman is and why it created all of this and gave power to the devi devta to uphold order and what happened to multiple devtas who thought they were the supreme ie. Indra, who Brahman itself came to restore order and put him in his place. The speaker is using his own emotions and thoughts which is fine but he's presenting them as if it's scripturally factual which it is not.
