I've always seen the Diwali celebrations, living in the middle-east with a very large Hindu (and related religions) expat community there. Never knew the story behind it. Thank you for sharing.
Hahaha that was my “house ranunculus “ , it has seen some love and use over the years but I don’t wear it usually for cooking! I had it on while boiling milk and then had to take it off as I get too hot when I cook 🤣
Thanks for sharing your Diwali celebration! It was so interesting to hear the story of Diwali and how you make it special for yourselves and your neighbors.
What a lovely episode! It’s probably just me, but I could have listened to every detail of the story and the interesting way of celebrating and sharing your rich culture.
Hi Megha! Thank you so much for telling the Diwali story! I've felt for years I'll never be able to remember all the names, but coming from you it's become easier and more personal. Happy Diwali!
This was wonderful! Thank you for sharing your Diwali celebrations with us! By the way, good thing you have those strong knitter's hands for all that carrot grating! 😆
Thank you so much for sharing - happy Diwali! I enjoyed your telling of the story very much and hearing about the sweets you were making, and I think you have the luckiest neighbors!
Thank you so much for sharing this vlog. Super interesting!!! You looked beautiful dressed to celebrate too. Wish i was your neighbour 😂, you are so kind and generous!
Beautiful vlog Megha! Happy Diwali! I live in a part of Calgary that has a large Indian demographic and so this time of year our Walmart and grocery stores near us carry a lot of decorations for the Festival of Lights. I feel connected to this wonderful tradition after watching your lovely episode. What lucky neighbours and friends you have!
Happy Diwali, Thank you for sharing. I had wonder carrot halwa when visiting India but have been disappointed with my own attempts. Appreciate you sharing the recipe. Your photos of you both dressed for the celebration are lovely. So pretty!🧶
I've been enjoying your podcasts from almost the very beginning and always look forward to them, however this was extra special and very personal. Thank you for sharing your celebration and preparation, enjoyed the story! 😊
Thanks for sharing your holiday and preparation for it. The mythology around Dewali (I hope I spelled it right.) was very interesting. Before COVID, the company I worked for, had a big celebration of Dewali. People brought food and dressed in their native clothes. It was a lot of fun.
Thanks for sharing the story of Diwali and the traditions you follow in celebrating. My granddaughter, Sesha, was born in Diwali the year she was born. Now she has just turned 10 and is a delightful child, born on a very lucky day!
Oh! You are such a beautiful couple 🌞🌞 thank you for sharing with us. I love that many of these older celebrations are about taking care of each other. I've only been to 2 Diwali and both were different but a lot of fun.
Thank you so much for making this vlog, it was so interesting. Belatedly wishing you & your family blessings for Diwali. (What a strange combination - Diwali and Halloween)
Thank you Megha, for sharing your Diwali celebration and background. Im happy for you being "caught in the moment" when meeting your neighbors...i imagine the joy of making gifts etc..the halwa, rabli, cookies...happy diwali

Hi Megha, super fun to see your Diwali preparations and celebrations :). My husband is Indian so since we have been together I have also been celebrating Diwali, but I have only celebrated it here at home in the Netherlands. So also very low key celebrations haha. I do try my hand at making sweets every year for the small party we do for friends. I have made kaju katli, nankhatai, ras malai, peda and kheer so far. Maybe some gajar halwa next year!
I loved everything about this Megha, thanks so much for sharing your Diwali with us 🥰💖🤗 Really sorry that your work has had you away so much, and that you couldn’t have a party this year. Your online friends definitely benefitted from your crazy schedule though! Ax
I love chai a lot! But I am unfortunately lactose intolerant now and have to be careful with it 🤣 I also don’t enjoy plant based milk in my chai so it has become an occasional treat now
Thank you so much for sharing your cooking and specially hindu mythology! I loved it! I love mythology but unfortunately I'm not familiar with hindu. By any chance do you recommend a nice book, a children's book would be preferable, so I can share with my sun :) Thank you so much! All the best!
Thank you so much for watching!! I think amazon has a lot of options on Indian mythology. The books I read were back in the 90s haha and I am not sure if they are still in print! There’s a book called 365 Tales from Indian Mythology and looks like it is geared towards children.
