Thank you for this nice illustration My question is this, why did you check for soft story with only Qx and Qy alone? Is there any point in the life of a structure where Dead load does not exist? Why not use a load combination to check for the soft story just the same way we use load combinations to check for drift? Thank you
Thx for ur video. I've a question. when ground floor is used for parking in rc building, then it may be act as soft story as there is no infill wall whereas other floors have infill walls. but while modeling in ETABS we do not model infill wall rather provide load. So in that case how to check soft story effect for GF.
Wc. As we don't model infill wall, we have to apply wall loads properly in each floor. If ground floor open, then there will be no wall load. As it has effect on floor stiffness calculated by Etabs, so you can check it easily from etabs data.
Need to provide shear walls/bracing or lateral support to resist soft story effect. There should not be any much less floor area than above floor that may have soft story.
Hello, I have a doubt, when checking the story stiffness in the earthquake in the X direction, the Stiffness Y column does not result 0, and when checking stiffness in Y, the X column is also not 0
Hello sir!! I have a question here, hope I'll get the response!!! How do we address vertical earthquake effects in Etabs? Indian code (2016) asks for consideration for vertical earthquake effects for structures given in Clause 6.3.3.1-IS1893 2016. (don't know if other codes have this provision or not?) . The code asks for load combinations using all three directions X, Y &Z. How can we define earthquake load in Z-direction? Is there any workaround for this issue??

Could you please prepare a tutorial about torsional irregularities checks, and give us more insights about center of mass and center of rigidity and their effects on the structure. much appreciated !!!
Brother you are a blessing for structural engineering community. ❤️😊
Assalamoalikum sir,
Tremendous tutorial... Thanks a bunch... May Allah you Peace
W.Salam. Thanks. Ameen.
Nice in-put Sir BD... More power to you sir, Salute!
Thank you sir for your kind help.
THANKS SIR. Nice explination
excel sheet and mashalaah good work

While detailing we have to consider cracked section or not
For detailing we will follow the design (ultimate loading condition) that includes cracking effect.
Hello
How we can give soft story to any model in Etabs.
Please help me..
Thanx
Gracias por la información
thank you and please the excel file and the site above for getting excel is not working
God bless you 😇
Thanks

Very nice sir
Make one tutorial about how to export all etabs detailing to autocad
Mashallah
Jajak Allah
What design change we have to do if we got soft story in both cases
Need to provide shear walls/bracing or lateral support to resist soft story effect. There should not be any much less floor area than above floor that may have soft story.
Vaiya, which modifiers should we use while checking for soft storey? Cracked modifiers or 1.4 times the cracked modifiers?
Thanks for your vedio Please mention me the reference where shows if story drift is with in limit does not require story stiffness check.
Sir if stiffness not ok i how to do and displacement over permissible limit

Good day! I just want to ask what modifiers we are going to use? Do you use service stiffness modifiers?
Yes, service modifiers.
Thank you for your tutorials very much help!! More power to you my friend

Yeah it can be done.
In response spectrum analysis by defining a new constant function in z-direction.
And making load case of spec-z , acc-u3.
Thanks Sir...

if we get soft storey in a building, then what will we take concern and what will be the solution?

@@Decodebd thanks sir
AoA sir , kindly put these excel sheets in the description of each vedio. Thanks
Can you share how to make this excel in database.? It will be very thankful
how can i get this excel sheet??
Check resource page of the website www.decode-bd.com
sir can you please upload the etabs analysis of commercial building using Indian standard code
Could you please prepare a tutorial about torsional irregularities checks, and give us more insights about center of mass and center of rigidity and their effects on the structure. much appreciated !!!
Torsional irregularity check is already there in my previous course for beginners.
salam sir please provide the excel sheets
ami excel sheet guli kivabe pabo,Thanks in advance
Siri didnot find the stifness table in results... Struxtural results.... Etc
