Hey Clement, thank you. Yes I will be making more gouache painting tutorials. I actually have another gouache painting tutorial waiting to be edited so I'll be uploading that soon. I'm also going to be making some videos on painting landscapes in acrylics as I have had many requests for this over the years. Thanks for watching 😊
Hey 👋 Sam! Beautiful painting, once again. Gouache was my go to commercial art medium back in the day, for all of the reasons you expressed here. The fact that you can paint with thin washes and darker glazes, or opaque lights, makes it really a versatile medium. When I worked with Disney background artists in studio, we would airbrush a mist of plain water with the left hand to keep the edges soft, and come in with a badger brush with the right hand to softly blend the edges. I miss those days. That was long before Pixar, lol, but were the best years of my career. More than acrylic, I found that gouache mimics the feeling of oil paints as you stated. Disney had a (secret) liquid material called “aquafix” that we would use to seal each layer and paint atop it, without disturbing what was underneath, allowing for amazing results. Thanks again! I enjoy your videos.
Hello, the brand of paint I am using is Winsor and Newton Designers Gouache. Definitely very nice paints to use. Check out this blog post I wrote on the best gouache paints: samuelearp.com/blog/best-gouache-paints/ I hope this helps, thanks for watching 😀
Thank you. I am not sure about pulp watercolour paper, however if it is paper that is designed for watercolour then I think using gouache would be fine 😀

Hi Sam! I was wondering what gouache you’re using here, as I’ve been having trouble layering mine recently and was looking for a better brand!
