Monty was a piss poor General. He would not move until he amassed huge amounts of materials and manpower. All the while taking fuel and materials form the best General Patton who grabbed the krauts nose and kick them in the ass.

Hate to burst your bubble , but General Patton was overrated . He outflanked the Germans in Normandy , after the USA 3rd Army was formed . German Army intelligence didn't pick up the surreptitious formation of the USAs 3rd Army until it got a move on as the Germans fell in the set up trap that was mostly accomplished by the Americans amongst the Allies . As the Herman's closed in Mortain , France , General George S. Patton attacked the attenuated flanks of the Germans who were fighting in ,vAnd around Mortain . Patton came up from the South East , and the American 1st , ant the rest of the Allies came from the North West / North East ,vwhich was a conglomerate of Allied forces to trap the Germans getting out of the Mortain trap via through Falaise .
Yeah , Patton went , and kids vke some butt from he weakend German lines . But , the American 1st , and later the American 9th Army went through absolute hell . Those 2 American Armies bore the brunt of the fighting in France . By late August , early Sept. 1944 General Patton finally ha to hunker own when his 3rd Army received a bloody nose @ a fortress type city called "Mez " . 3 of General Patons Divisions were mired own in bloody street fighting against Fanatical Nazi- -German cadettes of an officers training academy . An , as Gerneral Patton got toward the Siegfried Line , he fighting became more intense along with his casualties .
USA 1st Army General Omar Bradley , and USA 9th Army General Simpson were taking the brunt of the fighting , and high casualties while fighting on the beaches , and hedgerows ( Bocage ) country in Normandy . Later , by late August,v1944 the Americans/ Allies landed in Southern France ( Marseilles area) The American 7th Army , under General Patch suffered like ght casualties , but that all changed as the Allies were closed sing in on the Nazi- German border .
Point General Patton was good , but far from great . His greatest great of Turing a 180 degrees to help the 101stA/B Div out @ Bastogne was a great accomplishment . But , Patton didn't take part in the blood letting of the Hurtgen Forrest , nor the Vosges MTN. Campaign .
