    The irony of the chickens watching you make the chicken plucker is hilarious to see!!!! 😂 I love this vid, great work! I’m definitely using some of your ideas in our plucker build. Thanks!!!

    I'm on the verge of building one of these with my father but have a couple of questions: 1) Do the bungies do a good job? It seems like they'd be more likely to tear the skin if not careful, especially with birds like pheasants and whatnot. 2) Do you just incessantly get your hands and wrists whipped by these bungies? A barrel plucker poses no risk, obviously and a drill plucker maneuvers the fingers around the bird, instead of the bird around the fingers like this particular design. Just wondering if hand whips are a dirty little secret to this design? Ha ha.

      Bungees did a great job on the chickens. I did get hit with them a couple times it didn’t feel good but it wasn’t painful. I encourage you to make the design your own. You can use anything you want don’t feel like bungees are the only option.

    i've watched several chicken plucker videos. this is in my opinion, the best. it does not seam like the fastest electric chicken plucker but i like the fact that your chicken is just flopping around in the bottom of a barrel breaking all of its bones to shards.

      I think your talking about a whiz bang I have used one yet. They are suppose to be very fast. This works well for us we only do 30 or so at a time. this was almost free for us which so definitely was in the budget. Lol

      While it does look violent to see chickens bouncing around in a tub plucker, there is never any harm done to the flesh or bones. This plucker is the type i would build if I did not already have access to a tub plucker variety.

    Love the concept and I'm going to make a go at it but I didn't see details on how to securely fasten the PVC components to the all-thread? The tube and end caps obviously need to be pre-built, set into the unit, the all-thread then run through from one side, into the tube, and then out the other side. With no access to the inner part of the tube, you can't lock use opposing washer/nuts. What am I missing?

    • @josephbonham1720
      @josephbonham1720 4 года назад

      Lock one end of the all thread with a washer, lock washer and a nut squeezing it together on the end cap then slide tube over top into end cap and then run nut up to end of end cap on inside take cap back off adjusting it till it squeezes it together no need for gluing the end caps together

    Truly appreciated, and enjoyed the video . . . I now think, or believe I can duplicate your chicken plucker . . . What size is it's motor? How much did it cost for the build? Where does one acquire the rubber plucking fingers?

    • @JavaLikeHomesteading
      @JavaLikeHomesteading  5 лет назад +2

      The motor is out of a furnace blower. The "fingers " are rubber bungee cords from Harbor freight cut in half. We spent around 30$ most of the parts we collected over the years.

    • @josephbonham1720
      @josephbonham1720 5 лет назад

      Let's keep in mind that when using the wizbang plucked yes it can and will do more birds at one time but the down fall to it is one the amount of people you have processing at one time two broken wings and broken leg bones which lets bone marrow into your meat which can change the flavor of your meat and thirdly quite more expensive to build if you're only doing couple birds or up 50 birds with two people the drum type plucker works better in my opinion

      I used to work at a Turkey processing plant years ago... thaey did it that way .. but the had several rollers and the turkeys were hanging on moving hooks .. might be too complicated for backyard farmers.. but the barrel method works pretty well... as long as you don't throw more tjan a bird at a time in ... because they can tangle and break the bones...

Почему не сделать плакер центрифугу? Ведь все для этого было! Главное и руки вроде откуда нужно растут и всё аккуратно исполненно! А результат?? It's a 4 hour video edited down to 13 minutes it shows the whole process. It's a visual demonstration. But thanks for your feedback.

    couldn't stand the awful repetitive music, stopped watching after 45 seconds.
    You Tubers..., why do you guys think viewers want to listen to that kind of crappy music??
    id rather hear nothing or the sound of the tools only.

      Jack Larson this was my first video and I was playing around with editing but yes I understand what you mean I have tried several times to fix it but it won't apply the changes.

      Why would it be easier if it spun the opposite way that's not how it was designed

    • @nickgamble4544
      @nickgamble4544 5 лет назад +1

      Joseph Bonham is the brushes spun towards the back of the unit you could just slide the chicken back and forth on the bottom of the barrel flipping it over all the feathers collect in the back and you don’t gotta reach overtop something that’s spinning. You could also then box it in so you don’t get hit with chicken feathers and w.e else. Put a small door on the back to clean it out and cut a hole in the front so when your done you can just hose and bleach it.

      Joseph Bonham verry small design tweak wouldn’t be hard.
