  • After seeing a bunch of questions like " What brad nailer should i buy?" and " What is better air or battery power" I decided to do a bit of a comparison. Both of these nailers are great options and you really should go with what is best for your shop needs and setup. I do highly recommend the Dewalt I use mine all the time though. Check out the links below for either one of the nailers.

Also used pnuematic nailers a lot, and used battery (milwaukee) nailers too. I notice that battery operated nailers are not very precise with striking power. I have few nails always sticking out and requires a hit with a trimming punch. I know its not the speed that i do it, since pnuematic dont really do it. Maybe once per day versus, tens for the milwaukee. Also, my battery nail gun jams way too often, and leaves "empty" holes in trim. Just notoriously annoying, when you are trying to limit amount of holes on trim. I got to a point where i do not use battery trim nailers due to jamming or not driving nails all the way.
Pneumatic cord is a nuasence but also a blessing. I love using the cord to hang a gun somewhere, when you need two hands for something and you are on a ladder. The battery one, well you really cant hang it or pick it up by the cord. Also battery nail guns are unnecessarily heavy, which impacts accuracy and efficiency of nailing.
I am good with pneumatics for now. This is a biased test in my opinion. Who agrees that pnuematics are still not out of the game.

Really well done video! I appreciate that it not only cost your time but expense to make this informative video!👍👍👍
Seems one can’t go wrong with Dewalt!

You showing how the nice Dewalt overheating actually help my decision theory, I’m sure it’s great for portable but huge and hot gun. I think you can whip a air gun with a cordless compressor and possibly do some the work. More work, use a good compressor with a cord which most will use. I also thought of ryobi to save money but when you go that cheap it doesn’t function. I definitely like a quiet compressor. They really make job sites easier to hear each other.

Professional trim carpenter here. The battery gun is superior in convenience only. A pneumatic gun is lighter, more maneuverable, faster, more precise and more consistent in its action. The battery gun would be best a second purchase option to get jobs done with the full set up. While you certainly can trim out full houses with battery guns it definitely is on the cumbersome side. I use both almost daily.

Reason I'm considering the dewalt is I'm absolutely fed up with trimming a house and having 100' of hose all over. Then being on the 2nd floor on top of a ladder trying to shoot a piece of casing on a window. When some jackass is standing on your hose on the first floor and your 2 " short of making contact with the workpiece. Also I run heavier compressors that draw more juice so when the asshole tile guy plugs his grinder into the same outlet pop goes the breaker.

In a real world situation the compressor would be on auto and you can fire as many nails as fast as you want all day.

I don’t get why they don’t just make one gun that you can change the fitter of the nails or staples one gun for all uses

They don't do it because they want to take money.

I have used both and I hate how big, heavy and clumsy the dewalt is. It is convenient not having to drag a compressor around.

Yea the dewalt is a bit heavy but in my opinion it makes up for it not having to drag or route an air hose.

Nobody uses a trim gun like that. A better test comparison would be to show nail placement as it relates to precision. That is how these guns are used. Any other really is pointless. The compressor will always be operable and batteries will likely be charged to reasonably work for the day.

Who only has the air tank without a compressor running on it. Really no comparison as far as a single tank vs one battery.

NO questions asked?? Really? Look at the size and weight difference!!! LOL. ALL these reviewers are getting new toys for free or loaned to sell battery op tools that will NOT work without a battery. Battery is great for some things, but not tools for the long run.
