It could be because of the Coronavirus it got cancelled or who knows maybe some government agency pressured them to cancel just like what happened to UFO Hunters in 2009 and Salvation in 2017. Although if a series doesn't make a bazillion dollar profit for the shareholders that's another reason. It's possible it could be picked up by another cable channel like SYFY but they would need a whole lot of signatures or letters requesting that whatever channel may be interested in it buy it. I hate it when they end a show without closure. Who knows maybe we will get a movie that answers the question about what happened to Capt. Quinn.
The showrunners of Project Blue Book said in a podcast that they have scripts for season 3 and they want some other company to buy the rights and continue the show. If none of the other companies makes this move, the showrunners said that they would most likely release season 3 as a graphic novel. So it seems like we will get the story of season 3 in some way in the future, but I think we still should support the petition on change.org to continue the show, the petition has almost 12,000 signs at the time of writing this. www.change.org/p/netflix-save-project-blue-book-the-tv-series?fbclid=IwAR2I-5iBIEo9wAGoEP8HLh0R0XZuScbRXKHuDTplurzXtu5Yue5l8A8KIuk
The show started out pretty good then the story line became to much like a soap opera. Then they lost touch with the Project Blue Book aspect of it. If it comes back I will continue to watch it. If it does not I do not think I will lose any sleep over it.
they did temporarily revive x-files. if enough people sent letters to the History channel maybe they will at least give us a closure movie or episode. Same thing happened to UFO Hunters in 2009 when they got cancelled.
I am split on this show and its cancellation. As an avid fan of the late 70's tv show 'Project UFO' I was hoping when this series was announced that it would be in a similar vein. That it would take the subject seriously and the cases it showed on screen equally as seriously, but it didn't. It became very clear, very quickly that any connection between the real life cases and how they were presented on the show was far more fiction than fact. I feel that hurt it. I think people came to the show hoping for something serious (similar to how the first season of the X-Files took their episodes based on real life cases such as The Jersey Devil or Fallen Angel. They took phenomena and had Mulder and Scully investigate it seriously and actually injected factual elements of the phenomena into the episodes where as here Hynek and Quinn didn't seem to bothered about what was happening and spent more time worrying about the Generals) and instead found, other than names and locations, that it was all made up and spent more time on the conspiracy side of things than the actual investigation of the UFO's. Remember it was when X-Files started to give more time to THEIR conspiracy angle that their show began to slip in ratings. That all said the acting was top notch, the effects incredible and the directing solid. Thats why I am bummed it is cancelled. As a tv show in and of itself it was great to watch and if they hadn't anchored it to a real life organisation and factual UFO cases it might have survived longer. Considering they ignored pretty much all the actual evidence or case reports on the UFO incidents they 'investigated' they might as well have made it all fictional.
I understand what you are saying. I love this tv show, but I would also prefer if they focused on what truly happened, because it is very hard to tell what is based on real events and what is fictional. I know that History channel was releasing some videos that were explaining real events from this show, but those videos were very short and there was almost no comparison with the show, they never really made it clear what was true and what was fictional in the show itself. It would be cool to see those declassified files that this show is based on (if anybody knows where we could see them online, please let me know), but there is also a possibility that not everything is written in those files. One interesting fact is that the son of real Allan Hynek was helping with writing the show. I imagine he knew some things as well, which the creators incorporated into the show. It is possible that these information that his son had may not have been in the files. I am sort of just speculating here, but maybe the creators found even more information than those that can be found in the files. Maybe the show is based on reality even more, than we could initially think, who knows.
@@awesomestuffonly5483 Paul seems to have made a name for himself on the coat tails of his famous father. I see him popping up all over on RUclips guest spots about UFOs and other stuff. How much of what he knows about his fathers work is true who can say though. I would find it hard to believe that the classified stuff his dad did was ever told to him, why would anyone do that? Just because he is the son of J. Allen Hynek? Doubtful, it is government classified work and they wouldn't care he is the son. Would his father have told him everything? Again, doubtful due to the classified status of his work. He may have told some stories, but nothing to in-depth. From listening to Paul being interviewed his answers to questions seem rather vague at times and full of theory and hypothesis based on 'what my dad told me'. Plus they actually name the episodes after famous UFO sightings, well, for the most part anyway and yet fictionalise them to a point they hardly resemble the encounters at all. For example the final two parter, Operation Mainbrace? In actual fact a Danish destroyer spotted a triangular shaped flying object once moving at incredible speeds, and then a few days later some crew and a reporter on the aircraft carrier USS Franklin D Roosevelt saw a small silver object in the air seemingly following the task force. Nothing about the battleship almost being swamped by a huge triangular shaped undersea craft, no conspiracy, no UFO's were fired at. The factual history itself should have been enough for them to make an intriguing story, but they had to go overboard. The 70's show I referenced took the actual sightings, used exactly what happened and had two Air Force officers investigate. Yes they changed names as back then all the people involved in the cases were still alive and they dramatised it enough to make it watchable rather than make it a documentary, but I for one found it very interesting and intriguing.
@@ukmediawarrior Cool, it looks like you have pretty big knowledge about this stuff. I should probably check out the show from the 70's. My point with son Paul was that he could have heard something from conversations between Allan Hynek and his wife for example (if it's true that Allan Hynek shared his knowledge with his wife). That was basically my point, I am fully aware of that telling secret government information to his son would be very risky.
@@awesomestuffonly5483 I think Project UFO is on RUclips, but the quality might be questionable, lol. If you are going to check it out I would suggest trying the 'The Howard Crossing Incident' from Project UFO and then see how it stacks up against 'Hopkinsville' from Bluebook. They are both based on the same incident, but the differences will be obvious when you watch them :) I think it might be worth your time even if just to compare one show with the other. And I understand you know that telling such secrets would be bad, I wasn't trying to say you didn't, lol ;) I just feel Paul might be simply making a name for himself off his last name and not be anymore 'in the know' than any other UFO researcher. But hey, if it pays the bills then all power to him :)
I am really pissed as well. Maybe you can get in touch with the other fans and help bringing this show back. It worked for the Expanse, so why not blue book as well? If enough fans demand it back, maybe there is hope. Fight for what you like.
I too loved the show! The ratings had declined a bit in the second season, from 3 mil plus viewers to 2 mil plus. I don't know, however, whether that's good for a History channel prime time original series or not. I also don't know what it cost to make an episode of it. But I'd bet that the major reason is ratings and cost/benefit analysis. It's tempting to think that the Pentagon tanked it, but we'll prolly never know, unless a major researcher looks into it. I wonder if "Unidentified" will have a third season. Neither Wikipedia or Unidentified's website says anything about a third season, unless I missed something reading fast. Sure hope so!
I cant believe it 😢 it was amazing... out of all the crap out there whats up was it a bit to close to the truth Salvation another great tv show axed ??
They don't want people to think and ask questions. I agree this show was very good!
We must get a Project Bluebook Season 3
Absolute tragedy that this show got cancelled! Blows my mind!

The government must have shut it down.
It's possible.
This show felt like Sherlock and I loved it

thanks. I just did.
Thanks, just did 👍🏼
Cancelled is b.s. and was an excellent production, they don't want to disclose anything more, and on a cliffhanger.. cA

This is the very first Show that can compete with X-files. Cant believe that bullshit decission.
