What are everyone's thoughts on the current state of Pirate101? I'd love to hear from people who are hardcore PVPers or who have used the pet system a lot! Comment below! Also apologies in advance that some footage has the "activate windows" stuck in it. I was filming on a new computer and didn't realize it would show in the footage until hours later! It will not appear in future videos haha.
So bad that I'd never play it again x) surprised they even support the game tbh considering how little players play it and with how many issues w101 has and lack of difficulty and laziness of soft caps rather than making it HARDER.
@@calebnieves9410 I would actually love a difficulty setting for both games - or like boss tiers or something so you can select different difficulties for dungeons. Maybe they could drop better or more exclusive gear or something depending on the difficulty.
Pirate101 leveling takes significantly longer than Wizard101 leveling due to commuting (must ride ship to go between areas, or use the stagecoach which is like a teleport hub only in Cool Ranch). P101 leveling I would equate to 1.5x that of W101. P101 upgrading talents and powers takes much longer as you have to level up not only your pirate, but do companion promotion quests. These are similar to spell quests in Wiz. Pet training is lame in P101 compared to W101. P101 has a decent amount of content (50 hours or so) to do. Level 70 being the current cap is well more than enough for the average player. Pirate PVP is messed up because you can have the same companion as your opponent.
@@Zaepha Yeah idk. There are a lot of problems woth having bosses capped at like 10k since level 100. Weird choices they made there. Why use level 150 gear when level 130 gear puts you at caps? Lol I played p101 back in like 2015 or something and I remember it being so much better than it is now. Also you would actually see people in the game rather than it being a ghost town :)
One thing I like about this game is its story feels a lot more personal. Instead of some God being (which is pretty much what we are at this point in wizard101) our story smaller scale and more intimate. Instead of saving the universe, we just fuck over some rich people, or fight some bandits. The addition of the crew is quite possibly my favorite thing in this game. A permanent cast of characters that we get to know and level with the entire story makes me more interested in them. Characters like ratbeard, Bonnie Anne, and El Toro are some of my favorite characters KI has created.
Doesn’t matter. Unless they retcon Valencia part 2, the story and everything leading up to it is dead. Such a let down and better to save new players from the disappointment.
Honestly, the closest thing wiz can get to being like pirate is khrysalis because of the companions and the intimate feel of the story, but even then pirate is way superior
I definitely agree that I'm getting sick of being the Chosen One. FFXIV has the same issue where you have to save the entire universe from an apocalypse and then you become super-famous and get no privacy. In Pirate101, you are just a pirate like everyone else. If KI is to compete with the likes of World of Warcraft and FFXIV, they need to fix their games and update their newer games to catch up. :(
Its so sad to see Pirate101 so empty and neglected.. I feel it has so much potential and kingsisle just forgot about it. In my opinion this game has so much more charm than Wizard101 too, and i find myself liking Pirate more than Wiz. It just feels so much more immersive; the gameplay is more strategic, the story is interesting, and i especially enjoy having companions around. Having companions just makes the game 10x better than wiz for me cuz.. they're just so loveable. And dont get me wrong Wizard101 is also great but i think Pirate just does a way better job at getting you to like the characters and thats a big aspect for me. Crossing my fingers that the upcoming updates are significant and get more players into the game.
@@willowyrm I remember the days when I would hop on pirate101 and there were dozens of ships just messing around in every world. They would gang up on a boss tryna get the last hit and then sit there for 2 minutes just talking waiting for them to respawn. Now it’s just barren, if you aren’t in Avery the you can go the whole game without seeing another player. Even then you’ll maybe see a dozen people in Avery’s court and run into someone questing like every hour or two. I miss just waiting at a sigil for 1-2 minutes and then you have a full team of people on the same quest as you, then y’all team up and quest together for the next hour or so. The brawl hall stuffed full of sweats and die hard pvp players. But KI killed that community, wish I had played more in the golden age of pirate101. I came back when it was halfway dead and have watched the player-base slowly decay. I love wizard101 but I’m pissed it killed pirate101.
As someone who played BOTH Wizard101 and Pirate101, and had my first membership be for both games, I HEAVILY liked Pirate101 more than Wizard101. I had 0 friends for both games, and so having those crewmates in Pirate101 was VERY helpful, along with the ways battles are set up. Which I seriously like way more than Wizard101. I personally didn't like ever flying around in my ship (along with battling) but I still didn't mind. I also never minded walking around/flying everywhere, but that was probably just because I was SERIOUSLY invested in the story of the entire game, and still am to this day! The fact that Pirate101 was completely neglected by KingsIsle honestly makes me really sad! and I wish there were so much more. I also remember having to solo EVERYTHING, and also hope that with new updates the game will come back! I know I will definitely be going back to Pirate101 when I'm able to pay for membership on my own (or ask my mum again for another month membership lol) If you or anyone else who's reading this would like to team up in the spiral please send me a message! I would be unbelievably greatful to have people to play with in the future :)
I played wizard 101 for years, but when pirate 101 came out, it captured my heart. The combat and companion stories and side stories were all so fun to play with and my favorite thing of all SHIP COMBAT. I feel like playing this game again and starting a new character because I’ve done everything in wiz, I havent done everything in pirate
I love pirates as a whole, the style of it is awesome! However it's in dire need of some loved updates and some refinement. Also I still own one of those Selena Gomez portraits and the statue I believe lol
I still have her portrait, but when I deleted an old character I forgot she had the statue in her house and now it's gone forever. Selena, I'm so sorry :(
honestly pirate101 is incredibly underrated, the flaws in this game can honestly be traced back to kingsisle's neglect when it comes to this game, I'm excited for them to update it and it honestly deservers as much love as wiz if not more cause over its story is better and there is much more to it.
I wish many blessings for Pirate 101 to get as much love and recognisment as Wiz in gaming community following the future years, I think truly it’s a modern game and free to play movement still applies for it as Wiz to get more alive with fresh content and people. Even if they plan to redo Hero101 or make a Ninja 101 they have lots of potential. Thanks for creation details Zaepha, I forgot about that.
One thing I would like to add for the training point aspect, they are able to be bought for gold which with the general lack of gear upgrades you end up accumulating a lot of gold where unlike wiz where gold is almost always useful, pirate101 doesn't have much use for it unfortunately, which allows you to buy training points for your companions to constantly have a decently leveled party.
Good tip! I think I did find the NPC who sells training points for gold, but I didn't end up needing to buy many from him. I'm sure he's far more important late game.
@@dutch_windmill6596 fair, I never got to the point where I wanted to make pets, I was happy with mine and never really got into pvp or a difficulty spike
Your videos are all really well made and clearly have a lot of time put into them, I’m a fan! Also, pirate. Going to be completely honest: if it was given the same amount of love wiz has received over the years, it would be the better game. It has, in my (admittedly worthless :p) opinion, better combat, a more interesting storyline, and higher quality of worlds. If it really does get regular updates, along with some side activities like fishing or gardening, then I hope people start to notice it again because it really deserves more love.
Great video! I was feeling nostalgic today and thought about logging into my old Wiz101 account. Decided to look up Pirate101 too and see what the game's like since I didn't play it much as a kid. Really appreciate all the info and the fact that you uploaded in 60fps (it really does make a difference)!
Pretty nice vid overall, and glad to hear people still enjoy the game. I'm a long time pirate player and i gotta add that this game's story is just so beautifully crafted, especially in the later chapters, it's really worth a shot for anybody considering it. Also, a small side note, there is an option on the settings menu called fast combat, which greatly boosts the speed of combat animations, and it has become a staple for pretty much every long time player. I just wish the game would let new players know of that somehow, as it can save a lotta time while questing. Just gonna leave this here for anybody who decides to check the game out. Edit: Also, to comment on pets for pirate101, they work pretty similarly to pets in wiz, almost identically really, other than how you train them, which is done through timed tasks that your pets perform. These timers can be bypassed by the player paying crowns, but the amount of crowns each skip costs depends on the time your task takes to be completed. So at baby, your pet will only take 8-12 crowns per task skipped, but at greater ages (when tasks can take up to a day to complete) the prices to skip the training tasks increases to potentially above 1k crowns per task. The xp your pet gains per task completed depends on the tasks difficulty, and the snack you feed your pet at the end of it. These factors make pet training in this game a very painful grind, since getting a pet with the perfect talents and powers for your class can take literal months at times. So, to summarize on pets, don't bother with them if you just plan on going through the game once or twice to enjoy the story and gameplay, just use whatever you think looks cuter. After all, they are not ABSOLUTELY essential, your pirate can easily make it without a perfect one
Something else sadly you weren’t able to experience are the awesome story and honestly the graphics of other worlds, especially worlds returning from wizard’s story. Mooshu is beautiful
I was so obsessed with this game as a kid because I loved everything pirate-related at the time. I really wish this game still stuck around like Wizards did
The Selena Gomez thing is funny af. For whatever reason when I look at the statue and painting in my house, it by FAR brings the most nostalgia for the old days.
Also just wanted to say great job on the vids. Don't think people really say it enough, you hear a lot of people say oh RUclips is a great job, you get to sit at home and play video games and while it is a great job it's much more haha. Must be good at public speaking and how you word everything, you nail it all 👌
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it! I wish I got to stay home and play video games all day lol I have a fulltime regular job which is why it sometimes takes me so long to upload :)
I love the duel styles of fighting with ships and companions. I honestly think Pirate arc 1 >>> Wiz arc 1. The only issue I have is the stats are so obscure, whereas Wiz is so straight-forward (max damage)
Really great analysis. I think I've had a similar experience to you of being a long time w101 player recently rediscovering pirate101. I remember trying pirate101 when it first came out but quitting pretty quickly (despite actually preferring the combat system in pirates over wiz). I think for me the thing that really turned me off was how few female companions there were. My childhood dreams of putting together an all-girl pirate team were crushed when I realized how hard it was going to be to make a full female crew. I think you'd need to use almost all the female companions that are available for free in the game (if you don't want to spend money on packs) to get a full team and then there's not much room to try out different combinations of classes or abilities. Pirate101 feels like it was designed and marketed with the idea of it being a game more for boys than for girls--not uncommon for video games but still disappointing.
I think one of pirates biggest downfalls for me is the ui looks bad and despite the actually game without the ui looking just fine the tacky ui just is off putting for me i hope if they do a major update to pirates they revamp the entire ui
Fantastic video! I've been playing P101 since launch and heaven knows when I started playing wiz and this video was really good! You make a lot of good points regarding Pirate and even came across some grievances we've had for *years* so props to you! I do want to make some clarifications on how pets work in Pirate compared to Wiz as I've done both. l. Basically, instead of pet games the pet training activities are subsumed into the Task system which you can put the companions you know won't see combat so that they can still be of use to you. It does require gear and materials to have a pet play certain games, but they are in my experience relatively easy to get passively, especially if you send a few companions on Pet Wrangling activities. Now, while this does mean that you can't rush through a pet's development like you can in Wiz, I find it actually leads to a nice gameplay loop where you send them on their tasks and then go on playing the game. When they've finished, feed them, give them a good pat, and send them on the next task. It also makes it really easy to train multiple pets at a time, given your energy reserves can withstand it. Finally, I do want to touch on the fact that unlike in wiz, Mega Snacks are not something you're reliant on to get them leveled up quickly. You can get away with 3 and 4 rank snacks to maintain that they're leveling up after tasks and if you use 5-6 ranks you occasionally get a level skip (they basically have Pirate's max level cap as their maturity progress). WOW that was more longwinded than I intended! Aside from that, I hope that their updates will bring the game back into the light and change things for the better!
Some guy I follow suddenly talked about this game and so, I searched it up. Never knew Pirate101 or Wizard101, but definitely gonna try this game now. Great video btw.
I have played both for years, but have a strong preference for Pirate101. To me, the major difference are the two combat resolution systems. Combat in Wizard101 is essentially a CCG (collectable card game) system, with a core of spell cards based on your class and level, with other cards you can acquire through Lore packs, learn through cross-training, find as rare rewards from fights, etc. The Pirate101 combat system is basically a table-top skirmish game, where you move your team around attacking the enemy, and the enemy maneuver to attack you and your crew. Two very different combat resolution systems. I suspect which game players will like best is largely determined by which type of game (CCGs or skirmish games) appeals to them more. It is nice to see Pirate receiving a bit more love these last few months. I would love to see it come back in full force!
During my childhood I never got a wizard 101 membership, but one Christmas I had got one for pirate 101 and fell in love with it, it’s sad to see this game has died completely.
The best time to have tried would probably be before they redid the skull island portions and added the azteca and prawn portions. The story flowed SO much better before they crammed everything in there and split it apart. The old rat crewmate quests were so sweet
I played P101 when it first came out and I loved it (I ended up stumbling into the paywall pretty quickly so I stopped after that) Honestly, I want to get back into P101 because it has a nice charm but honestly I'm waiting until more updates
9:00 I remember that the game does very, and I mean very vaguely mention it with one of the tutorial pop ups that randomly happen, but if you don't catch it you will completely miss it
You're right about the combat being fairly easy- yes, it does ramp up a little bit when you get to higher levels (Aquila definitely takes a leap in difficulty) but if you play smartly, you're almost never the one who dies. However, that's the fun of it- I love that Pirate makes you care about your companions, I quested multiple pirates to max with my friend and I have great memories of us (mostly me) crying over our companions dying and us messing around and sacrificing ourselves for pixels :') I know I'm pretty late, but the game is 100% worth playing through. Even though it doesn't get updated, there's so much you can do to have fun with a little creativity- sometimes my friend and I get on and mess around in pvp, fighting 1v1 with just one of our companions, yes it's dumb I know but it's amazing LMAO
i was obsessed with wizard101 i loved it so much, not played in years however ive just now literally stumbled across this pirate101 i think im gonna give it a go
Awesome video! The story and combat definitely looks really cool, honestly if they made membership permanently free I’d def consider playing it through but nowadays it doesn’t even feel worth it to keep paying for wiz
I played this game since I was ten in 2014, it was my childhood and I love it so much. I hate that a lot of people don't give it a chance and glad you decided to play again! I really hope they update with new worlds lol
I'm both a hardcore w101 player and p101 player and let me just say I enjoy pirate101 so much more. Yes I do love wizard101, but they always shoot themselves in the foot with their continuous changes to pve and pvp. It's horrible. While pirate101 hasn't really changed much due to the lack of updates they receive. But even so, I enjoy the gameplay more. I think you'd really love pirate101 a ton more as a musketeer. The choice to go guns blazing with double pistols or a rifle or the option to hybrid with melee and pistol is really amazing. The passive moves also make the game so much fun as in double tap for musketeers or riposte for the melees make fun combinations. I also just enjoy that each companion down the road gets their own unique ability as you level them up. I have a musketeer centaur and she has a move where she can just charge through enemies and it's so frickin fun to watch/use. Pirate's gameplay is definitely unique and you can always change the style you like. Where wizard101 will remain the same and boring as you get the higher levels. Example being you will always use temp or bugs as a storm to quickly get rid of mobs or bosses. I wish wizard101 could do something to spice up their formula. Anyways sorry for the long message
I liked wizards as the next but I simply couldn’t get enough of pirates, the clothing, weapons, quests, but the various spells and super attacks instantly got me hooked
8:50 I am a seasoned pirate, playing since the game was still an open beta, been on and off but still a seasoned pirate. As for this time stamp the exact number is 4 levels about your companions gets you 1 level per 1 tome. Eventually you will be able to get 1 level for only being 3 levels above, but that takes a few training sessions first. I recommend that you always preview the amount of xp they get before you commit to using the tome. in the early levels it isnt that bad cause tomes are pretty cheap when getting them from the tome vendor found in any tavern. But they do get VERY expensive in the higher levels, so side quests that give training tomes is a great idea.
Thank you! I'm genuinely glad I finally gave it a proper try. It's a game that really deserves some more love, so I'm hoping to return now that it's getting new updates from kingsisle.
I remember playing Pirate 101 way back as a kid. Might just pick things back up again. I must say though, I didn’t realize that the choices made affected our stats. I just thought it was what influenced what companion you got. Edit: I was a kid so I played it mostly blind with my Privateer till the final fight which I couldn’t beat before my membership ran out rip.
Playing with friends on a co-op turn base battle gameplay is SO fun. I quit the game earlier on when pirate 101 released. But getting into it again recently with a friend now made the game so much better. People should do co-op turn base games more!
Beta Pirate101 player here. Thank you for giving it a fair shot and not just writing it off for not being W101. I've always enjoyed playing the game and while it's not perfect (no game is) it's still one I get much enjoyment out of and definitely recommend players check out. Yes it's different from W101 but the combat is of the easy to learn-hard to master type, with the tutorial and early quests doing a good job of easing you into things, and yes I can confirm that it does get harder later in the game. Regarding the alt-tab problem I'm surprised to hear that because I've played this game on multiple computers both old and new and have never had that problem. The story is also a highlight (rushed book 15 aside), and having a crew that communicates with you as well as the occasional puppet shows are always a treat to see. As for other stuff: The game actually does tell you about the training tome mechanic early on, though I will admit that info could be more readily available than it is. While more spell power is good the game is generous in allowing you to mix and match playstyles without feeling like you're severely hindering yourself. Also if you hover over your stats it will tell you if your chosen origin boosts it and by how much. Finally the Presidio companions usually don't change playstyles that much if at all, so you can go with whichever choice you want without too much issue. Pet training is similar but different in one big way: you can train them anywhere rather than in one location, though the trade-off is that it takes longer for training to finish for higher leveled training. That being said unless you're just standing around (which you're not expected to do) you'll most likely be doing other stuff while you wait so it's not that big a deal. Also, since you were quick to write off pets you probably didn't know that pets can actually directly assist you in combat by randomly joining as an AI fighter. While not having advance move for housing is a bummer you have to remember that W101 didn't have it at first either. Maybe they'll add it in in a future update but we'll see. That said one thing that's unique about P101 is that unhatched pet eggs can be placed in houses and they won't hatch unless you put them in your bag again. I do agree that it's annoying not having permanent gold mounts outside of 1-day rentals, but at the very least there are permanent ones that drop from bosses. Multiplayer can be non-existent at times but that's partly due to KI neglect and partly due to players not always being in the same realm. PVP can be either fun or frustrating depending on your mood at the time, but that's true for PvE too.
I don't know how long I have been playing both games I think I started playing in 2013. Always loved pirates and Wizards so when I found out about both the games I made a account right away they are both so much fun and amazing if you love either Wizards or pirates, or both, they're both amazing and really fun games
I think I somehow missed that when going through, thanks for the tip! I actually liked watching most of the animations, but I could see how that can get tedious after a while.
This game replayability is not boring (except the sidequest), hence I love it more than Wizard. Combat system is way more fun and fighting boss doesn't force you to bring a friend or two since it's a fair 4v4 fight
As a long time player ever since the game came out. You guys are really missing out if you haven't played pirate yet. The world's are gorgeous the story is phenomenal and the colorful characters liven the game up.
I tried Pirate101 last year and I was very disappointed by the absence of the borderless window and the lack of players. I had to spend about $100 worth of crowns on Henchmen to be able to finish the final boss battle because nobody was there for me to play with, even after multiple days of attempts to find people to help me. What I was surprised was the fact that it took me about 5-30 minutes to get a run in the best and most played dungeon of P101, The Tower of Moo Mancho. I still didn't get everything that I needed to perfect my gear due to the fact that I would be able to complete only one run per night, due to the lack of players and long queue times, while spending 2 hours in a dungeon. I even tried to solo it. I had to leave my computer open overnight for my companions to come back. Took me multiple tries over 24 hours to complete one run. I also spent most of my doubloons in the process. It is a wonderful game and I would love to be more invested in it, but until new content releases and the playerbase increases, the game is basically unplayable.
I used to play this game all the time when I was little. I played it even more than Wizard101! Good times. I'm planning to start playing both Wizard101 and Pirate101 again, but I'm probably gonna need to make new accounts since I haven't used my old ones since elementary school(?) and I'm using a different computer.
I remember when I tried the game out as F2P and it really surprised me how much content is actually free 2 play in comparison to Wiz101's limited F2P content. Also the combat and overall feeling of satisfaction was much greater, since defeating your enemy swiftly felt much more rewarding unlike in Wiz where I need to blade up once or twice and then just use the same AoE spell every mob fight with most Boss fights just requiring more blades and feints.
So, I watched this and started playing, looks really fun. But the reason you dont see people in the late game is because after about 2 or 3 hours the game goes "Give me money to continue" and you, from what I can tell can not do quests anymore as they are all in paid areas
I think Pirate101 is an Amazing game great story I love all my companions the journey I went thru together and our epic pvp battles lol they're my cyber family pirate101 well hold a very special place in my ❤ great video
As a player of pirate101 sense it first started you made very fair points in everything talked about. although now i think wizard has a better create a character now and the dang pet system always confuses me to no end lol
As an average pirate 101 player take off fullscreen and make ur resolution to ur PCs resolution also they do tell u to keep ur points but as a later on thing and i am glad u took the time to play the game.
I remember giving this game a shot when I was 10 or 11 or so and I got so frustrated with the combat because of the obstacles that I deleted my account after one specific fight I could not figure out how to navigate lol
Pvp is amazing in p101... yes there's rng etc but it's a lot more based as to of how you play and how you move! Also regarding ranked pvp it's kinda broken because of old scratch as he gives a mojo buff that's very hard to counter, but in practice pvp it's usually very fair and people won't use him! I agree with alot about what you said and the combat is so much more engaging, you don't just blade and hit you have to think in every fight. Another great thing is boss fights, they're typically very difficult to solo in wizard101, however in pirate101 they did an amazing job of making it easier to solo by having companions and other things such as heals and shields that last for multiple turns. I love both games but my heart truly goes to pirate101 I wish it was more alive because I believe it was the better game... the combat ranging from fighting ships or regular combat is always different and fun, I really hope more people would try the game it's really underrated and under appreciated.
Man I loved playing wizard 101 on 2012 and 2013 2014. The game as so much potential maaaaan it just needs a graphical upgrade , some mechanics and bigger maps upgrades. Then it would be such a nice mmo with way more players.
as someone who prefers Wizard101 and someone who played since I was 4 and left because wizard101 had a paywall (I'm 18) I'm thinking of coming back to both games
They should make membership common to both, if you have membership in wizard you get membership in pirates free and vis a versa. That way you can switch when you want a break. If they want to incentives, make 12 months of both for only one price of 79.95. I have a pirate account, but it rarely get played because of the extra membership cost. Would be nice if areas in pirate and wizard had hidden unique jewels, pets, snacks, encouraging people to try it.
While there are a few positives I've found while playing the game, let's face it, it's a repetitive grind. The ship-to-ship combat is dull, never changing and lengthily. The endless amount of side quests only serves to divert the player from the main story, and rarely provides good rewards. There where so many of them that I forgot to do some of them, and some of the ones I did bother to do where never turned in. The distances you need to travel, both in the skyway and on the ground is tediously long, and often uninteresting. The only real variation you get in combat comes from the character class you're playing (which doesn't change unless you start all over) your crew (which picks you, I'd think it be better if I could pick them), though this does slowly change thought out the game, and the combat objective, if there is one in addition to the normal "kill the opponent" type, which does happen but is also very rare. I would not recommend this to a friend, and once the month I paid for is up, I'll be done with it.
I would say 90% of haters don't like the battle system, which makes them not interested. It's sad. I love the story and all the features and the community.
Pirates always felt more mature and the story was great from the start unlike wiz I didn't care about the story at all until Polaris forward which is way late in the game. And I like that you don't need to use specific gear and BE like everyone else all you need is a good pet the rest is irrelevant and totally your choice.
i loved pirate101 for a few years when it came out. I've thought about going back to it, but honestly I'm just worried its one step away from being shut down by Kingsisle and I dont want to get attached 😬
I wanna say a couple things, first amazing video and great depth second if you came from wizard you should have really picked witchdoctor as it would have been more fun third no one like ship battles in pirate other wise i loved the video
As a long time fan who remembers the old w101 days, but did not play further to it being too stagnant on the combat screen, I'll offer some help if you play again. The game has had way more people on it lately too 😂
Its actually a great game, ive got 3 maxed characters but i wish the pet kiosk was added to the morphing tent cause its really hard to find people to hatch with who have good pets because i need a good pet for a privateer, buccaneer, and swashbuckler.
Also noticed that the UI looks much cleaner in pirate? The wizard UI looks so old and it is. Both games never had a UI update and pirate is younger so also has the younger UI.
Well, I played Pirate 101 when I was a kid.... Back then it was so fun to play but later I had to buy crowns for unlocking the story I think.... Which I didn't, so I left.... but I remember the game was so cool and fun to play, there were other players.... fighting enemies together.... all was good... But now I don't think it's worth playing now... I chose Sea Of Thieves now and I love it!!!
i love pirate more than wiz i like the combat style and the story. you should play pirate again wait till you get to mooshu and marley bone trust me its the best.
Wizard101 battle: "I draw and set two cards face down on my field!" Pirate101 battle: *Summons unit from the base panel, moves it into position and uses Tera Fire on the enemies* Yeah, I sort of enjoy the Pirate101 battle mechanics a bit more than Wizard101, but sadly Pirate101 is never coming to consoles. ;p
Pirate is a great game. There is immediately noticeable improvements from wiz that are unique to pirates. The ship combat is really cool, it also serves as a legitimate form of travel through the world and can even make some defeat-and-collect quests quicker. The companions is a really cool and fun system, and great side-quest rewards. The game also does a better job at naturally bringing the story into the gameplay. The optional cutscenes are way easier to be interested in, compared to dialogue. I think the combat is very fun, but admittedly less complex and fair. I don't do pvp but I heard the Pirate pvp is awful and part of the reason the playerbase won't stick around. But don't let that stop you from playing, the combat system is still really enjoyable PVE
lol you left out the fact that your pet enters the fights and fights with you, and that crew members that you're not using can be sent out to get you gold or gear or xp or even training points to level them up. i have a 3 page crew
Wait wait wait, THE BACKGROUND AFFECTS YOUR STATS?? I haven’t kept up with pirate 101 but I did play it when it was newer and it feels like a betrayal from kingsisle thag I had no idea
Btw for those who are coming in as of now, there is now UI scaling and borderless window mode so for those that were turned off by it. I wanted to put this here in case anyone else comes across this video.
i personally prefer pirate 101 over wiz. i love both games so much, but pirate 101 just immersed me so much more imo. sadly wiz overshadows it by a huge margin because of the content it is able to give
I’ve also gotta say that it’s way way easier to get gold in pirate than wiz in my opinion so the gold thing in the crow shop ain’t needed even more than wiz
P101 also seems to have a better, more interesting storyline.
@@Zaepha Yeah idk. There are a lot of problems woth having bosses capped at like 10k since level 100. Weird choices they made there. Why use level 150 gear when level 130 gear puts you at caps? Lol
I played p101 back in like 2015 or something and I remember it being so much better than it is now.
You forgot the dramatic music when you say El Toro name
@@FrostySnow1000 Pirate101 is still amazing
Honestly, the closest thing wiz can get to being like pirate is khrysalis because of the companions and the intimate feel of the story, but even then pirate is way superior
I definitely agree that I'm getting sick of being the Chosen One. FFXIV has the same issue where you have to save the entire universe from an apocalypse and then you become super-famous and get no privacy. In Pirate101, you are just a pirate like everyone else. If KI is to compete with the likes of World of Warcraft and FFXIV, they need to fix their games and update their newer games to catch up. :(
I wish everybody would give this game a shot! Been playing it for years and it has a great fun story and super interactive combat system!
YESSSS
ay love ur videos. been playing since i was a kid and u made it easy for me to jump in as an adult
@@alucard_0177 Tysm!
I maxed out my musketeer but I’m not feeling like going back hopefully I will return when they add Krockatopia
Does anyone know the song the intro
Pirate101 is ELITE. The fact that Kingsisle isn't giving any major update is a crime.
I know I will definitely be going back to Pirate101 when I'm able to pay for membership on my own (or ask my mum again for another month membership lol)
If you or anyone else who's reading this would like to team up in the spiral please send me a message!
If you make pets you're constantly broke on gold
Fun little tip as well is that in this game, marking a location doesn’t take anything like mana so you’re good to spam it
Also just wanted to say great job on the vids.
@@Zaepha yes of course haha and you still make top notch vids. If only w101 RUclips got more exposure :(
I love the duel styles of fighting with ships and companions.
Thank you for the in depth explanation of pets! I’ll definitely file this info away for when I come back to pirate :)
I've always wondered what pirate101's combat was like but I wasn't expecting fire emblem
I played pirate101 from start to finish and it remains a staple of my childhood
I played P101 when it first came out and I loved it (I ended up stumbling into the paywall pretty quickly so I stopped after that) Honestly, I want to get back into P101 because it has a nice charm but honestly I'm waiting until more updates
Crazy because P101 is mad skill based, incredibly moreso than wiz could ever be. It's a good game overall
However, that's the fun of it- I love that Pirate makes you care about your companions, I quested multiple pirates to max with my friend and I have great memories of us (mostly me) crying over our companions dying and us messing around and sacrificing ourselves for pixels :')
I know I'm pretty late, but the game is 100% worth playing through. Even though it doesn't get updated, there's so much you can do to have fun with a little creativity- sometimes my friend and I get on and mess around in pvp, fighting 1v1 with just one of our companions, yes it's dumb I know but it's amazing LMAO
i was obsessed with wizard101 i loved it so much, not played in years however ive just now literally stumbled across this pirate101 i think im gonna give it a go
I gotta come back and say thank you for making this video, it has now gotten me into pirate101 even though I feel late to the party
Anyways sorry for the long message
i got the second part of valencia before the free member ended it. was fun
I liked wizards as the next but I simply couldn’t get enough of pirates, the clothing, weapons, quests, but the various spells and super attacks instantly got me hooked
8:50
I am a seasoned pirate, playing since the game was still an open beta, been on and off but still a seasoned pirate.
Glad to see more content! I love your vids and I'm glad you tried pirate!
As for other stuff:
The game actually does tell you about the training tome mechanic early on, though I will admit that info could be more readily available than it is.
I'm about 10 minutes in, so I don't know if you're aware yet but you can speed up animations in with the "Fast combat" option in the settings!
I think I somehow missed that when going through, thanks for the tip! I actually liked watching most of the animations, but I could see how that can get tedious after a while.
I would have said, "ACTIVATE YOUR WINDOWS LICENSE YOU CHEAPSKATE!"
However I now realize that wouldn't be very fitting of a PIRATE now would it?
This game replayability is not boring (except the sidequest), hence I love it more than Wizard. Combat system is way more fun and fighting boss doesn't force you to bring a friend or two since it's a fair 4v4 fight
I love the little captions!! 🤣🤣 storm bugs go brrrrr!!
As a long time player ever since the game came out. You guys are really missing out if you haven't played pirate yet. The world's are gorgeous the story is phenomenal and the colorful characters liven the game up.
i'd personally love more p101 content & maybe a new class playthrough :o
YEAHHHH ZAEPHA UPLOADED 😁
Thank you for bringing attention to Pirate101.
Thank you for giving Pirate101 an honest look. :)
Very helpful and interesting video! Thanks for your explanations and honesty. Also love the POC movie inserts lol
I love both games but my heart truly goes to pirate101 I wish it was more alive because I believe it was the better game... the combat ranging from fighting ships or regular combat is always different and fun, I really hope more people would try the game it's really underrated and under appreciated.
ur my fav ytber for this info thank you!!!
Man I loved playing wizard 101 on 2012 and 2013 2014. The game as so much potential maaaaan it just needs a graphical upgrade , some mechanics and bigger maps upgrades. Then it would be such a nice mmo with way more players.
If new players watch this video..they'll have much more fun when getting into it
Awesome vid
as someone who prefers Wizard101 and someone who played since I was 4 and left because wizard101 had a paywall (I'm 18) I'm thinking of coming back to both games
I wish KI would roll a membership to Pirate along with the membership to Wiz.
I play this for many year when membership was free?
I started playing literally one day before on the 21st. Pretty crazy :o
Pirate101 will always be worth playing no matter who you are or however long you’ve been playing Wizard101
Storm bugs do go brrrrr. Great vid!
I love both of these amazing mmos equally, I couldnt pick just one
so many good memories on this game
Also noticed that the UI looks much cleaner in pirate? The wizard UI looks so old and it is. Both games never had a UI update and pirate is younger so also has the younger UI.
The time has come.
I've just always loved the grid-based combat more
Well, I played Pirate 101 when I was a kid....
I greatly enjoy Pirate if only for the strategy and change of pace to Wizard
i love pirate more than wiz i like the combat style and the story. you should play pirate again wait till you get to mooshu and marley bone trust me its the best.
i think i might finally give pirate101 a try
Wizard101 battle: "I draw and set two cards face down on my field!"
Pirate101 battle: *Summons unit from the base panel, moves it into position and uses Tera Fire on the enemies*
Yeah, I sort of enjoy the Pirate101 battle mechanics a bit more than Wizard101, but sadly Pirate101 is never coming to consoles.
Grew up playing pirate and fell in love. Unfortunately wizard was the more popular one.
Btw for those who are coming in as of now, there is now UI scaling and borderless window mode so for those that were turned off by it. I wanted to put this here in case anyone else comes across this video.
I like this game more than wizard101. Purely because of the combat. But I'd need 2 updates to return. Controller compatibility and friends.
I love both these games but never got too far due to lack of money for now
i personally prefer pirate 101 over wiz. i love both games so much, but pirate 101 just immersed me so much more imo. sadly wiz overshadows it by a huge margin because of the content it is able to give
I’ve also gotta say that it’s way way easier to get gold in pirate than wiz in my opinion so the gold thing in the crow shop ain’t needed even more than wiz
Don't forget to turn on fast combat in the settings ;)
