  • Always trying to improve and still learning. The perfect knife is just around the corner. Maybe not the next corner but perhaps the one after that, or the one after that, or the one.........
One things for sure. To get a nice hand finish you have to do it by hand!

Another great video on attention to detail sandy. As the sayings go "strive for perfection, but never reach it". Or my favourite "the day you know everything is the day you know nothing". Thats the biggest part of true craftsmanship, always learning or adapting new things. The day i stop learning is the day i hang up my chisels.

Attention to detail is a wonderful, and something that is becoming all too rare in our mass produced world. It is also one of the things that make for a hand crafted bespoke item such as a Jacklore. Sandy, your blades and sheaths are heirloom quality, don't ever change.

Very nice. Have to say Sandy after owning both the alan wood woodlore a couple of them and #77 jacklore for several years. I take the jacklore EVERY time. Handle comfort is the main reason. Your workmanship is some of the best out there, on a scale of 1-10 its an 11. Unfortunately i got talked out of the jacklore by someone with deep pockets. Will have to get another one day soon. Oh gee's Jack it's my neck is starting to tighten up just watching . After being a tool and die guy and injection mold maker for some 56 years and polishing for who knows how many hours over that period it's all just came rushing back now I'm soar already . But those flat surfaces like a knife were like a day off but when you get inside a 1/18or 1/16 the inch slot maybe 2 inches deep and harden steel those were the days yo just tired to put out of you mind even later with the electric polisher it was still a bugger. But it looks great there keep on going I'll be with you there in your knife making trials because I know what it means to work with your heart and mind . Happy Trails

Sandy, this is it, this is the answer. I’ve been saying to myself, the last year and Sandy has not put any knives out there for sale. I even remember you saying there might be some coming up the beginning of a certain month, and nothing. For the last year and a half I been waiting for the knives to go on sale on RUclips. Waiting for my notification bell to go off. It never happens. I had it all wrong, I should of been checking the website. I am so embarrassed. I use to carry my I pad everywhere 24-7 and I still couldn’t get a knife. Now I know, it’s the website I have to check. Wow ! So now I got it right is there any coming up so I can check. You wouldn’t believe what I used to do waiting for the notification bell to go off. Thank you Sandy ,your knife is like finding the holy grail. Could you please respond so I know you read this crazy story. Thanks. Tony

Hi Sandy.. Your videos both on knife making and your wild camping are great pal.. My Aerospace background often entails finishing off chrome plating to a specific finish.. Was wondering if you have ever thought of using micro mesh products to final off your blades.. ? Say Micro mesh 4000 ? Anyway, just a thought as you say you're always learning..

This is one of the reasons what makes a Jack lore knife a highly sought after knife. I really enjoyed this video. I’ve been watching here on RUclips for quite some time for some knives to come up for sale but have not seen any, are they on another site if they come up for sale even if it’s only a few. Thanks. Tony

    • @WiltshireMan
      @WiltshireMan 6 лет назад

I post them for sale on my website (www.jacklore.com) when they are ready. But due to them being hand made and in high demand they are often snapped up in seconds. I've tried many methods of selling them to give everyone a chance but it's impossible due to them being hand made which means they will always be very few in number.
Just have to keep checking the website Tony, thats the best way to give everyone a chance.
      Sandy

Because that perfect Jacklore knife is laying about three feet away from where my right hand is twiddling about typing. Mind you, you could always make another one . No law against it is there . :) Enjoyed a swift knife video. Mind you Sandy , those grinders , bloody death trap they are. : ) Sorry, couldn't resist.

Sandy do you ever develop what I call a stop and start line near the tip where you lift up to avoid rounding the tip. I've noticed that in any area I stop or pause in develops a grouping of marks that can be seen in the right light. Thanks for taking the time to share what it takes to make a knife as quality as yours.

Those g10 liners really “pop” don’t they, great colours.
Do you sand after you have hardened the blade, I usually hand sand to 1200 while it’s still soft, then go from 1000 to 1200 after.

hi sandy interesting viewing getting into the mindset on quality processes in or of knifemaking? i wondered as i see that your website and you are quite busy? & not wishing to be an additional burden? if you could just perhaps? give me a quote for a jacklore blank blade with assoc g10 spacers and the higher quality bolts that you often use? to go through the handle? the longest model you do maybe it is the survivor model or classic i dont know?
but i will either shape handle myself? out of exotic or regional woods here at my workshop? or maybe try to ask osmo in finland? for only a handle job forming its shape only? as hes equipped better with sanders? i really like the sharp clean lines design & shape.of this blade? its axis or centrepoint balance weight looks good also? for boring i had no idea wilts volks could be so clever? & creative? i thought that they only herded vast herds of filthy swine over the beechmast of the ridgeway? looking like baldrick!? to stinky london markets!!?
but we didnt know.thatyou are basic implement tool makers too? also? who are capable of independent mindedness & primitive forms of early regional trade?
any help?.advice? assistance ? on obtaining just a 1x single jacklore blade blank would be welcome!? thankyou & best wishes
    dave
