Try adding an extra step and add the Smoothie after the Milk...but before the Souffle. So do the Milk, then Smoothie, then the Souffle (but you can't use the same amount you'd use as the EcoStyler gel). Use a much smaller amount. You can also in a separate jar, mix 3 parts Smoothie with 1 part Souffle - mix them together in a jar and use it that way. That worked for me.
I mixed it with a milk and it still felt sticky but my hair stayed moisturized for 4 days. That never happens to my colored hair. It also kept me from touching my hair, which is a win for me. I also loved how fluffy my curls were.
Same results I got, but it gave me the best wash and go in life.LOL! I use it for bantu knots, twist outs, etc and they all come out great. I am not giving up on it yet. I will find a way to make it work for a wash and go. The results are too good!
Finally Amber Another RUclips blogger suggested just two taps for each section of hair. Use your fingers and tap just a couple of times - this amount will be sufficient on moist hair. I hated the stickiness too but tried just a couple of taps and my twist out was soft and moisturised for the whole week!
I completely understand you. I hated it at first too BUT it's a big learning curve to it. Jenelle Stewart said you're suppose to lightly tap the product onto your fingers then apply. So it's all in how you use it & how much you use. I'll be revisiting it soon.
I think the pros out ways the cons..pros= moistures for days, defines hair, softens hair, shines hair...it's a all in one product.... cons= people say it's sticky but I find it to be more of a lightly oiled coating on hair.
My sentiments exactly! Love the way my hair looked using this product but hated the way it felt to touch, (so did my man)...😉 Such an honest, accurate review!
Your hair looked really good. I'm with you I don't like how it feels and I used a dime size amount. Felt weird to me not sticky but unnatural. Great review
I tried this product as well and hate it! I felt like I had a gheri curl. I was sticky and my curls were wet the entire day. BUT, I am not tossing this bad boy out lol. I will try the suggestions below.
if I use the curl enhancing smoothie first, a little curling souffle then some gel, I get great, fluffy wash and goes that last for a week. the key is not to use you much and sometimes I mix one part souffle to four parts smoothie. maybe when u try it again try it this way. I didn't like it at first either but since then I've brought it five times
Chile... That's way too much mixing and "lab work" for me lol I can use my Eco styler gel straight out the jar. I'm glad to hear someone found a way to make it work though.
I put very little on my hair and it was still sticky. I've never had luck with Shea Moisture anything. I purchased this and the manuka honey etc deep conditioner and regular conditioner. The deep conditioner over conditioned my hair. My hair was so soft it was snapping off. I was pissed. Ima have to do a protein treatment this weekend to strengthen my hair. I can't throw it away so ima have to mix all 3with another product til they're finished.
You are not suppose to use too much, you are only supposed to actually dab in the jar, and you get great results. It is better with twist outs, use the spray on dry hair, and very little shea moisture twist and beautiful. But going to try the Eco too, I am older and want to not have to use a thousand products to get result lol
Love this product. It keeps my wash and go moisturized for days. To combat the stickiness I apply a small amount about the size of a dime to small sections then apply gel over it. Once I'm all done I take a little more rub I'm my palms and scrunch on the ends. It took a lot of trial and error for me to find a method that works.
That's great! I'm glad at least one person has found a way to make this product work in a wash and go. Everyone I've heard that actually had luck with it ended up using it as a holding gel for their twist outs. I may revisit it down the line as a twist out refresher, but for now I'm putting it far away lol
I heard that you're not supposed to use a lot of this. It only takes a small amount to get the results. I definetely can't use it in my hair for a wash and go... I use it for hold for twistous and braidouts and again you only need a little.
I love SheaMoisture but this product was awful on my hair. It would either be too sticky or cause my hair to absorb so much moisture (southern state humidity) from the air it would be wet and over moisturized by the end of the day.
+whatdacurl94 yep! you're absolutely correct! I didn't factor in Southern humidity but I definitely think that played a HUGE factor in why I never picked up that product again lol
Question is this gel souffle suppose to look like a bunch of gummy candy just recently purchased from Walmart the other day tried using it and you can barely get it out of the container what gives
I hate it too! It feels gross! I went to work with the twist out today then washed it out immediately when I got home. I will NEVER try this product again.
Tiffany Ott Yeah I think I threw mine away immediately after this video! Some people love it and keep telling me to try it again but I'm like, when you hate something as much as I hated this product, you don't want to even try again lol
I know a lot of previous comments said this already but you used waaaaay too much. The gel souffle has to be mixed with something creamy like a leave in or hair milk in order to keep it from leaving a sticky film on the hair. If your hands feel sticky after application, add more of the creamy product until that sticky feeling goes away. You basically put a heavy coat of agave nectar, which is similar to honey, all over your head.
GeminiCurls: Shani's Natural Hair thanks for watching. Like you said, a lot of people already said that in the comments. I just did not like this product, even after a smaller application.
Glad it works for you. I have a particular way I like my hair to look so I apply product until it looks that way. That just means this product doesn't work for me :-/
I definitely agree with the sticky! I didn't leave it in long enough to know if it got flaky. I washed it out as soon as I finished editing this video! Lol I couldn't take it anymore.

I still love this, regardless of the stickiness. It does the job.
Same results I got, but it gave me the best wash and go in life.LOL! I use it for bantu knots, twist outs, etc and they all come out great. I am not giving up on it yet. I will find a way to make it work for a wash and go. The results are too good!
I may try it again in the future and use waaay less for a twist out.

I hated the stickiness too but tried just a couple of taps and my twist out was soft and moisturised for the whole week!
This video had me cracking up. The honesty was sooooooo real!!!
sidestep02 lol glad you enjoyed it!

I may try that way again with a twist out later down the road.
Your hair still looked gorgeous though
I mixed my Shea moisture gel with other Shea moisture products to dilute it and get rid of that sticky feeling plus weird texture... Works great now
I think the pros out ways the cons..pros= moistures for days, defines hair, softens hair, shines hair...it's a all in one product.... cons= people say it's sticky but I find it to be more of a lightly oiled coating on hair.
if it works for you, great.
Wow the reviews are so mixed. I guess the best way to find out if it works for me is to try it. How did you use it?
I'm so in love with this stuff. Everyone is different though. I love your videos!!! Nice hair.
My sentiments exactly! Love the way my hair looked using this product but hated the way it felt to touch, (so did my man)...😉 Such an honest, accurate review!
Although u didn't like the product, your hair still looked good! JMO...
Thanks! I felt it looked good, too... I just couldn't deal with how it felt. I love to touch my hair too much.
Thank you for your honesty I thought it was just me
Your hair looked really good. I'm with you I don't like how it feels and I used a dime size amount. Felt weird to me not sticky but unnatural. Great review
Alissalove Robinson Yeah I don't know if I'll ever learn how to "properly" use this product. It just wasn't for me.
I tried this product as well and hate it! I felt like I had a gheri curl. I was sticky and my curls were wet the entire day. BUT, I am not tossing this bad boy out lol. I will try the suggestions below.

I agree. I washed it out the next day!! Yuk.
I will try again one day with a twistout. 🌪
Thank you for your honest review
My hair loves this gel
I heard that putting oil on top, makes the sticky feeling go away

P Locklear Yeah, no matter how I tried to use it just was a mess for me!
Hair Mary side note everyone loved my hair today-they said it looked so moisturized. Meanwhile im thinking but i can't touch it!!!!!!!

I hate that stuff! not for everyone.... def not for me........
stariara I totally agree!! People kept telling me different ways to use it and I'm just like, "Listen... Me no likey" lol
I think you used too much. The amount you used on 1-2 sections of hair is what I use on my whole head
Glad it works for you. I have a particular way I like my hair to look so I apply product until it looks that way. That just means this product doesn't work for me :-/
Sticky and flaky
I definitely agree with the sticky! I didn't leave it in long enough to know if it got flaky. I washed it out as soon as I finished editing this video! Lol I couldn't take it anymore.
