    Excellent vid just subscribed. I was originally looking at your bike vids as I’m just about to pick up a titus silk from Planet X as my whippet frame has cracked! Plenty of bikepacking trips planned this year including the north coast 500 and Lejog. Im only down the road from you in Ferndown near the Castleman. I had a bivi night out at Winspit a couple of weeks ago. Cold weather hit -7 and i was testing out some Snugpak SF sleeping kit. Was a cold one.

      Ah thank you. The Titus silk looks awesome and for the money a bargain in my eyes. Planet X certainly know how to do good bikes. Both of the NC500 and lejog are on my list to do as well.
      I’m always riding through ferndown, that’s my training loop when riding road bikes. I love it over the purbecks. The morning views are epic. Like you said though it can get very cold especially with SW winds. I’m camping this weekend, just deciding where to go currently.
      Do you do off road or road riding more then?

    • @FrankieWildeDJ
      @FrankieWildeDJ 2 года назад +1

      @@thebikepackingadventurer More off road nowadays especially as its only a few metres from mine straight onto the castleman, usually along the tracks out to Upton then across to the purbecks. I was riding a 2019 cannondale scalpel but my motivation has changed recently especially as i also do a lot of backpacking and bivi nights out so trying to use the bike more for that instead of walking. I have a wahoo kickr bike which is keeping some kind of baseline fitness over winter so once i get this titus built up over the next week i’ll get out for some decent rides. I’ll give you a shout when i’m back on the road maybe get out for a ride or bivi.

      @@FrankieWildeDJ the castleman is good for that. I love riding over the purbecks. I used to have a transition patrol, but the travel is way to big for anything down here, and full days/weekends in wales weren’t working for me in the end. I like my Planet X tempest gravel bike now for stuff round us as not boring on the roads and can handle most trails fine round here. I’ve gone flat out down ninebarrow on it, and it was rather exciting to say the least 😂.
      Yeah cool drop me a message on here on Instagram if you fancy a ride. Hopefully it starts warming up soon

    Not tried camping in a Bivvy yet, always been a tent camper then i tried a hammock for first time last month and loved it.. i guess it has to be a Bivvy purchase soon! Great vid mate, New subscriber

      Thank you, that’s appreciated. A bivvy to me only suits if you need to setup super quick, don’t need space and need to stay stealth. Also it’s half the weight of my Helm1 tent so that’s a bonus. Hammock for me is the ideal though. Off the floor, just need 2 trees and is super comfy. I am hammock camping this weekend in a forest in Dartmoor 👌🏻. Next video will be out from that 😉

      @@thebikepackingadventurer no I've not. I'm mainly doing South Wales at the moment, but I'm originally from Devon so done a lot of Devon and Cornwall coast lines. Hoping to explore more, but time and money are limiting factors at the moment!

      @@TheWalkingKev I spent a lot of my childhood on holidays in Devon. I am originally from newbury in berkshire so quite easy to get to Devon. I did a ride from Bournemouth to Cornwall and was supposed to come back but I had a massive crash outside Truro. Ended the trip abruptly 😢.
      Time and money are always the hardest factors in doing adventures unfortunately. Fingers crossed for the euros 🤞🏻😂💷💰

    Nice camp. How was the condensation level in the bivvy?

    • @thebikepackingadventurer
      @thebikepackingadventurer  10 месяцев назад +1

      Nothing at all. I did sleep with the mesh exposed so not fully clothed. Considering putting in mess at the toe box end similar to the head end. Just a small square to allow through flow.

    • @hikeandcampwildadventures
      @hikeandcampwildadventures 10 месяцев назад +1

      Yes I think I agree about the mesh in box end. I’ve just ordered my Elan. I’ve done lots of wild camping but I’m hoping a hoop bivvy will cope with higher winds as it seems this is the future 🙃

    • @thebikepackingadventurer
      @thebikepackingadventurer  10 месяцев назад +1

      @@hikeandcampwildadventures yes I have a army goretex one, great for just throwing down and in, but this hooped bivvy is cracking too. I don’t feel claustrophobic in anything, and this just feels like you’ve pulled your quilt over your head. I liked it in winter too as it warms up so well being a small airspace. To help with condensation I just made sure the mesh was there and in front of my face a little bit open to help with the moisture in my breath escaping. That’s where the moisture comes from. It meant that night no condensation at all. Obviously not possible if pouring down 😂💦

    Lovely spot mate, get a bike down there you think?

    • @thebikepackingadventurer
      @thebikepackingadventurer  2 года назад +1

      You can’t ride down to it as lots of steps and very steep in places, but easily push a bike down/back up. Although the south coast path you aren’t supposed to ride along which is at the top of the ridge. I have though and many do, but you can’t get far that way. You can ride in from the roads to the chapmans pool carpark though so if specifically riding there to camp with gear on the bike, you could do that.
