As a former 300 I can confirm bishops are invisible past 2 squares which is why black actually didn’t hang the queen cuz to him there was no bishop

@justinbombach9873That happens as well. I always laugh when the computer chides me for taking a free queen instead of playing a mate in 3. Even if I saw the mate in 3 I don't trust my calculations enough to go for that when I can just take the free queen and win that way...

When you can't find a move, you click different pieces and pawns to see possibilities. That's how chess is played at low elo.

I'm curious though, is it really *that* unexpected of low elos? When I was a kid, we generally knew how pieces move, just lacked the board vision, so even with blunder upon blunder it'd be pretty normal. Oddly enough, people would far easier spot that opportunity when presented rather than noticing they're giving one to the opponent. One of those little things.
I thought En Passant was a low elo "forced" move. As a perpetual 350-400 I like to pretend I know what I'm talking about.

@fashioniscoollolexactly. You’d be surprised at how many can’t finish a game and end up drawing. I think they’re just used to people resigning once it looks like their opponent is going to lose

@fashioniscoollol I had a game where my opponent and I went through three reversals each because we each found something the other had missed in the position (tactic, better theory, exploited weakness, etc) and it came down to me having two pawns on the seventh and my opponent having just a king and rook and I queened the wrong pawn to win. I would love to submit that game to Levy because I was so proud of myself for even making it that far when I blundered pretty badly in the opening, but getting games submitted is very difficult. Chess is all about who makes the last mistake, not the first one, and I think that's really important to instill in people who want to learn the game.

Bro, I'm about 700 elo and I would've done en passant. Hear me out.
xg6 opens up a lane to the backups row. Black has to respond to the now-active threat deep in his territory. He can't move the queen or he loses his position on white's territory.
The only solutions for black are meet the challenge with Kf6, or pass with b6. The latter is the smart solution as he has to choose between a pawn trade or force the issue.
If it's Kf6, then it becomes Rf2+ -> Kg7 -> Rg1 -> e1=Q -> Rf7+ -> Kh6 -> Rg4.
Black has two queens, but white now can potentially get one and still be relatively safe and he keeps both rooks with minimal risk.

I've played many early endgames with an aggressive king at relatively high level back in a day (youth championships). It's underrated. Although the queen still being around kinda kills it, rooks/knights is where it worked best for me.
