    Great video and the tank is coming along nicely. You may want to move the torch sooner rather than later. If it grows the way mine has grown, it won't be long until it is stinging the rastas nearby and possibly the sps that looked pretty close.

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  6 лет назад

      True enough. It shouldn’t be too hard to break off the bit of epoxy and move it when the time comes! Good tip though. I’ll keep an eye on it!

    The blue millie is for ever my favorite in your tanks!

    Thanks Devon for the update, I did consider buying this tank here in Oz but decided to go for larger 4x2x2 because our summers are hot and temp can be an issue with smaller tanks.

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  6 лет назад

      If you only have one tank going bigger is nice! Did you go with red sea or another brand?

    • @Banjofrog62
      @Banjofrog62 6 лет назад

      I ended up with a Waterbox 135.2, but here in Australia it is called Fire Aqua, I have a number of Fire Aqua freshwater tanks but the 4x2x2 will be my first marine "reef" tank.

      Who is your Canadian livestock supplier? I see you open boxes all the time but you never said where did you get them?

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  6 лет назад +1

      That last unboxing I bought in person at JL and drove home with them. Most of the time I buy locally (Atleast for fish). I have ordered coral on line a few times but orefer to buy in person when I can see them first

    OMG! My tank is only 3 months old and it's only 6 gallons and yes I am a beginner hobbyist, my SPS are growing but not incrusting, maybe I don't know something? I am dosing all of the elements ( not including potassium cause it makes algae go super crazy). Please answer my question!

    Tank is looking awesome Dev! I'm telling you, find a small magnificent foxface and put him in and he'll destroy the bubble algae in no time, then move him on to the main tank since he'll be too large for a Nano longterm...it's a miracle fish for bubble algae, or any algae for that matter!

    Dev when you put pods in do you leave the circulation pump off for any length of time the tank looks cool cheers

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  6 лет назад

      Yep. I usually turn the pumps off for 20-30 minutes when I add them. The fish have a feeding frenzy and it gives the rest time to hide :)

    Hi ReefDudes. I've used Vibrant for bubble algae a few times over the last few years on my 100g reef. It definitely works. 4-6 weeks of application twice a week. I had a ton of bubble algae each time and both times I applied, they were completely gone. I did have a bit of a cyano (common with application) following each treatment, but I'd rather use Chemiclean after Vibrant than battle bubble algae consistently with no progress. Hope this is helpful!

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  6 лет назад

      Thanks so much for the feedback! Sounds promising then! Did the bubble algae come back on its own or did it hey re introduced on a frag? Thanks for the info!

    • @Kevin-ou7ls
      @Kevin-ou7ls 6 лет назад

      Great question. I don't think I addressed the root of the bubble algae in my tank. It is great at removing the bubbles without bursting and multiplying. I've had a tough time balancing my Nitrate and Phosphate. I would say that was the biggest issue of it coming back, but if you have that balance than I would not expect it to return unless reintroduced. It will take 4-6 weeks but then will likely all disappear within a few days. It's a great product when you are in a tough spot and don't mind taking care of the cyano after.

    what do you think about using kalkwasser in the ATO for the red sea nano max?

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  6 лет назад

      It would clog the stock one as is stock. You would need a little 1/2” piece of tube to poking out on the inside go make sure it sucks from above the sludge layer .. then you shlold be safe :)

    • @macbarb12
      @macbarb12 6 лет назад

      ReefDudes hey thanks for the quick reply. I actually installed a tunze osmolator 3152 and have the sensor and the RODI run to the same area as the ATO that came with the tank. Do you think I would have any troubles doing it this method?

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  6 лет назад +1

      Just make sure the pump is raised up so it doesnt suck in the kalk slurry and you will be fine. You may want to clean the pump in vinegar/rodi every few months to be safe but your good to go oterwiese

    Have you ever had any issues with vacuum loss from your DIY dosing containers? I seem to be losing the vacuum for my calicum container...its not pulling the liquid out of the container and into my tank. the doser is trying to pull the liquid up but its just not going up...it was working fine at the beginning but now nothing...my alk is working fine ..i was told by a friend he had the same issue with those ro tubing bulkheads we are using in the caps..any idea?

  • @eroggero

    Looking great, getting me motivated to dive into nano world. Are you going to dose trace elements in 4 pump,? Love ato might do something similar but with a aqua lifter if it works.( I'm to lazy to build) lol.also do the pipe fish eat other than pods?

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  6 лет назад +1

      You could very easily make one using a relay and aqualifter instead :P Nanos are fun cause you can keep tiny creatures that would otherwise get lost in a big tank. So far just pods for the pipe fish. I do add tiny particles of leftover mysis juice but not 100% if they are eating it or not.

    New to nano tanks. What does giving them pods mean?

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  6 лет назад

      Boosted Blue pods or copepods are little tiny creatures that are at the base of the food chain in your aquarium. (Free fish food . Will scavenge leftover food ect). They will find a way to your tank on their own but adding some up front can really help boost their numbers.

    • @ReefDudes

      He "might" eat the canalis the mysis is likely to big for him. he is constantly hunting pods so i think that is a key part in them thriving

    • @geraldzhang5905
      @geraldzhang5905 6 лет назад

      I see. Do you need to constantly supply the tank with new pods, or you find that they keep a good population on their own? Do you have a small refugium set up in the sump in the back? I'm considering upgrading my 10 gallon to this Red Sea Max Nano because I find it impossible to maintain a good pod population in my current tank. But given that there's no readily available refugium in this Red Sea system either, I wanted to know how people manage. Thanks in advance

Have done everything to get it to be more quiet but am at a loss. Have already spoken to one of your representatives who has sent replacement parts and made suggestions but the situation still hasn't improved.
