    :::About This Episode:::
In this episode I'm lucky enough to have London session legend Steve Pearce with me!
If you speak to any bass players from the UK, soon enough Steve’s name will come up in the conversation.
    Why?
Because he’s not only one of the busiest bass players on the UK scene, he’s also one of the coolest and friendliest guys you could ever meet.
Steve’s played with the likes of Wayne Shorter, Steve Wonder, Tom Jones, Al Jarreau, Madonna, Mark Knopfler and played on film sound tracks such as Donnie Brasco, Evita, The Full Monty… I'm sure you get the idea! ;)
In this episode you're going to learn:
    - Why Steve believes that reading music was his gateway into being a professional musician
    - How he got started with music through his father and his journey to being one of the most sought after players on the UK session circuit
    - How you can prepare yourself for working within a studio and theatre environment
    - How he focuses on groove as the fundamental for everything he does
    - And as always so much more…

Steve Pearce is without doubt the best bassist I've seen live. His feel and groove are amazing . If you get a chance to see him live, jump at it !

Saw Steve play last night with Hampshire Stuart in the 606 club, Chelsea.
What a great Bassist. So much feel, great groove and obviously still loving what he does.
It makes so much difference when you can feel the joy and love on stage.

This was a truly lovely, informative and educational podcast. My one, and very real, disappointment is that now Steve's facebook page has been deactivated with all his popularity. We have been friends on Facebook since Brother Strut first came on the scene and I have truly enjoyed the "education". I guess every experience has its season. :-(

Whoa whoa whoa! Why'd you cut it when it was
starting to get more interesting? What did he end up saying
about Yes & Genesis? I'm a huge fan of both those bands lol.
Never heard of this Steve Pearce guy but he was extremely entertaining
to listen to here & those were some great stories. Awesome interview.

Unfortunately, he said that people around him were into Yes and Genesis when he was at school. But he wasn´t into those bands. I´m also a big Yes and Genesis fan.

Yeah it was a bad note to end on. Yes especially is fucking incredible, can't believe a guy who likes herbie doesn't like Yes, they are like as complicated as prog rocks gets in terms of chord progressions.

I understand a lot of theory, I just find it kind of hard to visualize it on sheet music rather than the fretboard or the piano. I should get to fixing that at some point...

I agree. I'm a pretty mediocre bass player but I get more calls than I deserve because I can read. Bass is a great place to learn theory from, but at the end of the day there is a limit to what you can memorize or play by ear.

I'm working on it but it's kind of like learning a foreign language. It's slowly sinking in though.
