I still haven't tried an Emperor's Blade razor. I certainly need to but I think the asymmetrical head has stopped me. Interesting change of pace with the opening. I was afraid you were going to skip the Boom, lather! part. I shouldn't have worried. I want to thank you for being one of the people who have inspired me to start making my own videos. Your enthusiasm is infectious and never fails to bring a smile to my face. I hope you have a wonderful day!
Hi Mark- Great shave; thank you! Feather blades definitely let you know that you have shaved. I thank you for quoting the wisdom of chef’s at the end of the video- you made my week!! Take good care and be safe and be well. All the best, Mark!
Mike, thanks.:) So glad you enjoyed this video.:) I'll continue to explore my use of Feather blades in other razors. I'd say that I'm being more comfortable in using them, but still respect them.
@@amirhoseinsari5417 The Parker Variant has a more traditional safety razor look and feel due to handle knurling. It also has more heft than the standard size progress. The Progress is easier to reassemble after cleaning.
Love the Wisp, Brush Scuttle and Alum block! As for HJ47- I was Shooting in a country bar tonight and one of my friends comes up to say hi. She says, 'Wow, that smells great!' High Jump 47 strikes again!! 😃
Feather with the Feather AsD2 razor it's the demonstration of what's you've said. A sharp blade turns in a smooth, efficient shaving without any irritation. Thank for your videos. Have fun
@@MarkSzorady absolutely worthy but only if you enjoy a 3passes shaving with calm, joy and no stress and you like feather blades also, unless it's only half the degustation menu or a dessert missing. If you need a pass in a hurry, and you enjoy fast shaving, then forget it, you'll throw away lots of money. Greetings from Switzerland
Very nicely done, Mark!! I've never used the Feather blades because I've always read that they are very sharp and that the user should "respect the blade." PAA shave products never disappoint. Have a nice weekend, Mark!!!
That looked like a nice close shave! I’ve been looking at the Meiji since watching you use it. I need another razor like I need a hole in the head but the Meiji looks like a great razor!
Redstone, it's a terrific razor. I've had mine since 2019. One important note to be aware of that Vikings Blade mentions on their product page: "IMPORTANT NOTE about "bowing" blade: This razor has 2 symmetrical burrs on the door corners which slightly bow/bend the blade. NOT a defect. This is part of our new 2020 mold and has passed all QC standards. Razors made from this mold repeatedly give an excellent smooth shave and this has been confirmed by all our genuine beta testers, despite the bowing effect which might be misunderstood" Based on photos another viewer sent me, I didn't see the difference between his razor (2020) and mine (2019). I just may get another Meiji to compare.
HI Mark, nice video. A little advise for your older viewers. You have to be super careful are your wrinkles with a Feather blade. Also, if you have any bumps, that blade will cut them off. I also use the feather blade but I use it with my Rockwell S6. Have a great day and stay safe.
Fantastic video as always. I need to ask as I'll be purchasing one or the other next week. Which is better the Augustus or the one your using now? And why?
Hi Mark! Great shave video! I have 3 Viking razors ( you are to blame😊): the Meiji, the emperor in frosted chrome and the Chieftain jr. I have been literally begging the shaving gear distributor in my location to get PAA products. May I suggest that you can use witch hazel between the alum block and the after shave splash? Have a great weekend!
Hello Mark. I have a question. I have the meiji. You are very impressive with this razor. Myself I had 2 amazing shaves as well. But please tell me..have you noticed any base plate tilting? Because mine is title all the way. But not on number 1. I guess because its too tight on number one..no space to tilt. So have you noticed a tilt on base plate?
Great shave Mark as usual, Talking about blades have you tried the Voskhod super stainless? Not the Teflon coated ones. They are probably the most smoothest blades Ive used, Superb, All the best Mark.
PAA is probably the most represented artisan in my den. I'm not buying much these days due to 11 years of collecting. High Jump was part of a pass around a few years ago. It is the only PAA scent that didn't do anything for me, not bad but one I would not purchase. This proving, scent is so subjective.
Patrick, yes, PAA is dominant in my shaving den, as well. Agree that some scents are subjective. High Jump 47, however, resonates it me. The good news is, there are plenty of others we can agree on.
Hey Mark. Nice looking razor but I can’t see it offering anything that my Gillette razors don’t already give. It might be a little less expensive than buying a Gillette adjustable and having it refurbished or replated. PAA soaps do a great job of laying down slickness. Mark you need to try Etu from PAA, homage to Brute. Catch you later.
John, Gillette Slim adjustable razors are wonderful. The great thing about doing the traditional wet shave is all the variety available. I'll give Etu a look. Thanks.
You are adjusting the razor wrong. First adjust it, then close it. Adjust it once again ? Open it back up, adjust, and close it again. Otherwise you will damage the razor

Thank you, Charles. What plate with the 6S?
King C. Gillette or The chieftain by Vikings?
Also will a mild safety razor give as close of a shave as a neutrally aggressive safety razor?
Nice shave

That razor looks like some milwaukee tools red and black, the handle reminds me of the milwaukee bit holder.
Gabi, it certainly is built like a tank (or hefty power tool) for sure.
Is it good for head too

Read the directions on the box, it tells you how to get rid of the tilt.
I use a Rockwell 6s on plate 4/2
Thanks. If using a Feather, it's going to be the #3 plate for me.

I have another part of the trilogy, agharta it’s my favorite scent of all, but now high jump is on my radar. Hello fathers day. Lol
I must be doing something wrong when I shave. I don’t shave up to my eyebrows.
You probably have heard this before, but you bear a resemblance to the late author, John Updike.

Tim, what you describe is the correct way for Vintage Gillette SlimandFatboy adjustable razors. Not neccessary from what Vikings Blade has told me.
