The more I watch these fall of big companies, the more I realize how these big companies fail:
    1. Ego
    2. Underestimating competition
    3. Not accepting change

Yep. You start seeing the pattern and those three things you've listed are typically the main reasons.
Occasionally you see a video that shows how bad timing and some issues the company couldn't control were the reasons the company fell but more times than not, the reasons are comprised of the big three you had listed.

This phenomenon might be referred as marketing myopia, a mistake that companies make when they are too focused on the specific product itself without taking into consideration of how that product benefits the customers.

Now I wouldn't mind if they came up with a dual-booting phone that would allow me to shut off android entirely and only use BB10 in peace and privacy, and maybe fire up android once in a while for some obscure app....or maybe just upgrade the existing Amazon Android runtime in the existing BB10 would be sufficient as long as the hardware was a little newer.

Actually, all OEMs are doing the same at this point, not just Apple. There hasn't been much in the way of ground breaking innovation in the past 3-5 years except for Apple's Face ID and under the screen Touch ID on Android phones. Every year we get a better camera and a better processor, but most everything else is software innovation. Folding phones look promising, but the technology isn't there yet. Not to mention that they're priced far too high for most people to buy.

the_boon honestly I think the majority of people don’t feel a need constant innovation when our phones are now these little super computers in our pockets. I, and many other people I’m sure, enjoy the simplicity and pretty streamlined design of an iPhone. You always know what you’re going to get, and the upgraded cameras and whatnot are enough for the every day consumer like me. I can’t think of any crazy features I would like that I don’t already have, apart from maybe getting the headphone jack back lol. Until another company comes out with something that really changes the game, I think iPhones will stay on top. I haven’t heard of features from competitors such as androids that I’m just dying to have or that the iPhone doesn’t already have- and they don’t seem nearly as streamlined, simple, and familiar compared to the iPhone. I wish people who bagged iPhone for a lack of innovation would speak up more about what exactly they want to see and where improvements could be made.

Here a little story of my days at High School
I remember back in the day i bought a Samsung Galaxy S1. The Blackberry was going full steam EVERYBODY got one. I was there with my S1 and people was making fun out of me and calling me crazy because i didn't bought a BlackBerry. They didnt even know what the hell was. The next day after buying it my friends and others people at my school were like:
"WOOOW WTF! Wheres the keyboard?. WHAT?! The keyboard is on the screen? IS TOUCH?!. WHAT?!?! Its not like push touch is actually just touch!. You also got a app market than actually work?!. WHAT?! You can do all this stuff in this tiny phone?. The screen is bigger?! The quality of the screen is much better?!. WTF IS THIS?!"
The 1st few days they were laughing not stop, but everyone was changing they mind after every time i left them to "explore" the potential of the phone. BBM was a HUGE THING, but of course i didn't have that. I was "yoo. You got Whatsapp?". Everyone was like ??? whats that? I was there explaining what was Whatsapp. I basically push an whole school out of Blackberry. In the next few months everyone was using Whatsapp, everyone was buying touch screen phones. Everyone at my class was coming at me with the "Dude...I loved your phone so much i just bought one" By next year everyone was rocking touch screen. By 2012 i was rocking the Google Nexus 4

I still remember my dad using one and i still have 1 in home somewhere.
And it still was fun to use. That's why IT was good.
    It was fun ^^

I kind of like the keyboard. The reason why people are addicted to smartphones today is because of the touch screen and no keyboard. Without buttons, phones dont feel like phones anymore. They feel like zombifying devices. Who agrees?

@Go Live well with the physical keyboard you can type away without looking and still get sentences that make sense, which you can't really say for glass slabs.

My grandfather went to USA in 2013 to meet his daughter or you can say my aunt now as you all know our main priorities in USA is shopping. When my grandfather came from USA purchasing blackberry feature phone replacing his samsung smartphone as a 5 year old i thought why the hell did he replace his stylish smartphone with his nokia kinda feature phone.

I still have the Blackberry Porsche Design, one of the best product of Blackberry back then. And that was the first phone I owned before I switched to Iphone 4. I miss those day when I felt like a boss walking around school with a Blackberry.

I must say, I used to love my BlackBerry's keyboard, very ergonomic. I wish all phones had that! Another contributing factor to BB's demise was the major data outage of 2011.

Paola Energya I am surprised that nobody mentioned how they did away with the “Day at a Glance” feature where you could see your two latest emails and next two appointments on the lock screen. When they got rid of that I switched to Apple. Been using an iPhone ever since. Still miss the BB though.
