    It’s Mauka (Maw-kah, like NOW-duh) and it means Mountain in Hawaiian. Great video. Informative. Good observations. Exactly what I’d expected. I like people who dig up the value-priced gems instead of flexing a name brand (like everyone else). Thank you. And nice that you take a serious approach to a real issue in the bike world (ridiculous prices for everything), but don’t take yourself too seriously.👍😉

    I had similar situation with the beading. Had to go use the gas station air pump, then had to go to a different gas station where the pump had more pressure… but similarly, once they popped onto the bead they stayed and didn’t deflate overnight. I ran them tubeless with Stan’s sealant.
    It’s super leafy where Im at right now, but these things can really keep up. I’m crazy and like to hit some dumb jumps and drops on my trails, so I’m running them at max 50 PSI and having fun.

    Great review! I have the Krumbien gravel tires on my gravel bike.. 2300 miles on them probably 75% of that is on pavement rather than true gravel. Even with the aggressive tread they have held up great. I just rotated them like 300 miles ago! If I do a gravel race or serious ride, I'll switch to the new pair waiting in the wings, but for training and road rides they still look/ride great.
    I agree.. they seated easily for me... they far outperform my Panaracer Gravel Kings that I had on prior.. I have not had any issues with sealant weeping.. nor with small punctures from gravel/rocks. In 2300 miles I have 1 puncture. I rode over a 3" long screw that got stuck in the tire.. no tire would survive that.
    After getting it pulled at the LBS, and riding home with a bacon-strip patch.. I replaced that with two doses from my Dart.. and the tire has been fine.
    Awesome value in my opinion.... I am considering them for my trail bike so was pleased with your review. I may have to give them a try!

    These look like the CST 1020n tires. They too are hard to fit and are wire-rim tires: run at low pressure the grip is like a Scotsman with a five-pound note; 45 psi and they are good for smooth trails and the road and especially good in the wet and mud, Thanks Cobra Kyle.

  • @casestudymtb
    @casestudymtb 2 года назад +4

    Saw these on pink bike, definitely an inviting price point! Thanks for giving us a look at em! I do need to say though, it's a bit of an odd choice to put those tires on a hard tail to ride largely xc trails. I would have rather seen the downcountry tire on that bike then popped the assagai/dhr knock offs on a bigger bike to test performance in steeper terrain, something more in line with the tire's intentions. Not sure this tells me much about these tires really.

    • @CobraKyle
      @CobraKyle  2 года назад +5

      The downcountry one wasn't in stock at the time when I bought these. Unfortunately I don't have a ton of steep sketchy terrain where I live, and this bike came spec'd with the Minion/Aggressor so these tires aren't a huge change from those. The tech trails at Coler I rode are certainly a bit nastier than an XC trail and these tires didn't fail, so was happy with those results.

  • @hardmtnbiker
    @hardmtnbiker 7 месяцев назад

    I have tried their gravel tires and they have been really solid. I can imagine the Mtn tires are really nice too. So this is what I have been doing with my recent tire purchases. #1 I rarely buy Maxxis anymore, unless they at a serious discount like 40% off. #2 I look at other brands that often go on sale. Kenda,Conti,Schwalbe and Victoria. I actually just bought some Teravail 50% off and some Schwalbe at 30% off. Let’s be rear. We rarely need a specific tire urgently and can afford to wait and save or buy and store till you need them. Just my thoughts, especially now when the bicycle industry is starting to collapse.

I am currently running a set of Vittoria Martello 27.5 x 2.8's and after one year of riding, no flats, one tiny puncture the sealant took care of, and the only issue (if you can call it one), are that the gray sidewalls are scuffed ALOT.
