25 years ago I rode my bicycle from Lhasa, Tibet to Kathmandu, Nepal. Saw a lot of yaks. They are magnificent animals. So large and powerful, yet able to balance on a knife's edge. They're like ballerinas on the steep cliffs of the rugged terrain in the Himalaya. I grew up in Wyoming, in ranch country and never saw that sort of athleticism among our domesticated cattle. Cows are cool because they're smart and curious, but I never admired their athleticism and grace the way I do with the yaks. The only reason this bull ends up prevailing is the yak overheated.
Yaks get sick when they get to lower altitudes. On too of that, they need cold environments. However, altitude is key to a Yaks health. At the heights where the Yaks live, no Buffalo could beat it.
