Personally would never even consider an m240 over the m2. My needs and uses would never need the awd from the 240 which in my opinion is the thing the 240 has that’s “better”
I ordered a M240i and had it delivered last month. I love it, super planted to the road and handles really well. The AWD is crucial for me as a DD living in the Midwest.
I got my M240i back in December. Also for me this is my first BMW and I'm not disappointed at all. To me its the perfect daily driver. Plenty of power to have fun on the streets, yet calm and comfortable when driving in heavy traffic. Just saving up the pennies now to do my first upgrade. Great Video!!
FYI - The grills do not open every time you turn the car on like she says. From what I've experienced, they open up when the car reaches a certain temp. It's also believed that driving mode and AC level impacts this, but who knows.
I have a G42 and also feel it doesn’t get the respect it deserves. Especially when you lower and add an exhaust! You hit the nail on the head - the body roll is significantly reduced and the downpipe really opens this car up. I have a full exhaust and it sounds ridiculous. I vote you get one and build it for the channel!
I own a G42 2023 m240 but the RWD not x drive. Reason why I didn’t go with a m2 was due to the wait time, price, gas mileage, insurance and the fact that M Car maintenance is always more expensive. B58 engines are amazing already and the S58 is beefed up however you can still have great power from these B58s. The 2023s do come with the idrive so the interior is different. I get the AWD hype however a “true” BMW in my eyes is RWD. This car is by far THE MOST fun car I’ve had. The M diff really makes the car slide around easily and the control of the car in a slide is incredible. A toddler could drift this thing really.
You’re literally the first person who has shared an opinion of the 240i RWD, there’s no video about it in all RUclips. I’m also planning to get the RWD version, the only thing that makes me doubt it is that the launches may not be as powerful as the AWD, what do you think about that? Does the launch still feel savage?
Glad you went with the RWD! I had a 2016 340i for 6 years and have loved it. I drove both the m240i RWD and xdrive. I liked the RWD a little more but got a sweet deal on a 2022. I also prefer the pre face lift interior with the shifter knob. Not sure why they took it away
@@OFFROADandSTUFFlaunches are not as powerful but that’s not important. If that’s the only thing tempting you towards the x drive, go RWD I wanted the old interior with the shifter knob and also got a decent deal on a used one
RS3 is faster, but the interior is boring as hell. I personally prefer the M240i xDrive over the RS3 and the M2 (you pay extra for the wheels spin, unless you like drifting lol)
Depends which year but rs3 takes more money to put in to make more horsepower and less reliable in terms of stock block and internal how much they can push. The b58 cost less to modify and make the same power as an rs3. Trust me the inline 5 sounds good and makes good power but you need to change the internals before it blows up. They can’t withstand as much power as a b58. It’s faster stock to stock but no one keeps their car stock forever. Harder to build and takes more money more labor. B58 is much easier to work on and easy power depends how much you want it’ll have different packages. As well as trans stage1-3. The more money you put in a car the more powerful. That’s why viper and gtr’s cost about 300-400k total to mod.
Picked up an aspen white 2023 M240i xDrive last month. Waiting to break the engine in before I let er rip, but so far I am enjoying it. A while back I had a 2021 Toyota GR Supra 3.0 Premium and I think that this will be a much better daily.
My new loaded Melbourne Red M240i is in production now and arrives end of October. Adding the MPE and quad tips initially. Can’t wait to take delivery!
Id have the m240 all day. and i agree all you really need is a intake, down pipe, BM3 and XHP.. annnd some VS5RS wheels.. and lowering springs... and code out the fake engine noise... thats it! theres just so much you can do lol
After 6 years it was time to let go a F87 m2 manual. On youtube the new m2 looked not good. So we went to the dealer to spec a m240. There was a m240 in stock a grey m240 but there was also a toronto red m2 in stock, i asked if it was possible to park them next to each other and than the m240 looked dull. It is way smaller than the m2. In real life the m2 is very wide and good looking something a photo will not show. We went for the M2!
M240Xis are great cars! I own a ‘19 & absolutely love it. It’s my DD. Never had a regret owning this over the M2! They really don’t compare. I chose the M240Xi over an M2 for two reasons. I need AWD (Midwest) & I need something more comfortable (softer suspension) as my DD. I honestly believe the M240Xi is the best sporty car value/DDriveable/quasi limited/quasi special/high performing car extant. I own two other real sports cars that scratch my M2 itch…
Only difference is really the suspension bits. The horsepower can be obtained from the m240 easily. Since you always do your own suspension parts I would suggest the m240 so we can see all the goodies you add....i.e. new Thic Whip special!
YES! The G42XD will soon be revered as the optimal tuners car.... Now there are driveline upgrades, with some basic mods its essentially a 1st gen GTR. Such a high value platform, and people will have them in the 8's very soon... An affordable high ceiling platform with quality after market support now. Once people catch on to their potential, I think many performance car enthusiast will op for the G42 over the G87..
BTW, there is a new 23 automatic, Black on Black M2 currently available at BMW of Lynchburg VA. I just passed on it this morning because I am still unsure if M2 or M3/M4 is right for me and the fact the car is Black on black. I love black exterior on the m2 but, need a bright interior to brighten up the car, Silverstone, Kayalama, Red or ivory. The new 23 M2 black on black was still available as of 11am this morning 8/31/23.
Great video. Just not too sure about the pricing. I got my 2023 M240i xdrive alpine white for MSRP $58k but now it's a little more. 2023 M2 starts at $63,200 currently. with options MSRP is probably $70k. So it's probably $12k difference instead of your estimate $30k difference. I am located in the States, not sure if it makes a difference.
Sweet carbonfibre lip!!! I have an E82 135i with the M sport bumper, does the company that made the carbon fibre live in this video so one for my car? 🍺🙏🏽
Just bought a 230i xdrive. 9 grand cheaper than the 240i and a 4 cylinder twin turbo is PLENTY of power for me. My car will never see a track or a youtube video. 😂

It really depends, I prefer manual transmissions but if I could have it my way it would be the m240i xdrive, with 6speed manual. No reason BMW couldn’t offer the manual on the m240i. The b58 is just so damn stellar. But then again I don’t really like the g series looks at all. I’d probably just go with an f series m2 og. Man the n55b is legit but if the og m2 had the b58 it would be perfect.
Been looking into the m240 over the m340, m3 and m4. For what the motor offers with the Drivability it might just take the cake. Stock to stock yes it will lose but mod to mod after awhile it will take the cake.
Don’t bother messing with the gearbox. The ZF gearbox has been used in many cars including Bentley and Aston Martin. Any change you make will be hardly noticeable but might bugger the gearbox up.
I'd pay for the M2 with a manual transmission (and I did lol). Especially if you plan on taking either cars to the track. You'll be happy you purchased the M2.
Why not get the m340? already had the two door supra but the 4 door would be a little different. Especially with the 21-22 that have the mild hybrid in it. Not enough people are modding the mild hybrids. (I also don't know if the m240's have the mild hybrid so don't roast me)
Johnathan, do you have any pull with Hendrick BMW Charlotte (not Northlake). Hook up a follower, a fan, lol. Nick (Parks) took care of me thanks to you. Thank you again for that. I went to Hendrick BMW today 8/31/23. They had 1 new 24 M4 Competition XDrive Aisle of Man Green, Kayalama extended interior, carbon buckets, carbon interior package and the full carbon exterior package. Absolutely beautiful car but, not one other option selected 🥵🤧😪😤🤯...... customer spec'd the car, late on delivering paperwork to purchase. Was told , had a very good shot at purchase but, even as beautiful as it was, no tech/comfort options (I am old, need that stuff). They had 3 new convertibles M4 Competition XDrive cars. I am not a convertible guy but the Dravit Grey with Silverstone interior and fully optioned down to neck warmers........ Damn we were close.... last day of the month. I was wanting them to beat Colorado BMW offering 3k off MSRP and they just wouldn't do it. They came down $1,800 but, $1,200 was their markup for tinted windows, nitrogen in the tires and 3M door edge trim.
B58 is the best bang for the buck no doubt. But S58 is truly the next level. A basic stage 1 tune with zero mods on a S58 engine puts it around 650HP. That’s already way more than FBO on a B58 (unless you’re doing big turbo but at that point it’s over 10k worth of mods along with other headaches). Point being the M cars are truly special and yes it’s a steep price increase, but 100% worth it if you can afford it
@@ThicWhips yeah when i took it to the shop they have no idea how it happened. I launched it less then 3 times too but looks like the transmission couldn’t handle it. The g87 auto comes with the way stronger zf8 speed. B58 cars have the zf51
I wanted a manual M2, ordered one. Then realized manual M2 exists in 2021. So I found a mint condition manual m240 (they are very rare!). Really happy with the decision
I debated this endlessly with myself and then I bought a certified G20 330i xdrive and a super low mileage manual 987 Boxster S. Problem solved. Better utility from the 330 and better handling and driving feel from the porsche for the same money as an m2. Both are plenty fast for public roads. I've had 500 plus horsepower cars and they are just trouble. Not fun unless you are breaking the law. Cant rev them out.
John/Community, This video could not have come out at a better time. I am currently shopping new 23/24 M2s and new 24 M3/M4s Xdrive. I am either looking for a daily driver vehicle and keeping my 21 Porsche 911 C4S or buying 1 vehicle to be both a daily and a performance monster. Keeping in mind I only drive 5,000 miles a year maximum. I truly can not decide between the M2,M3/M4, as dealerships do not allow test drives of M2s or M3/M4s I don't want to purchase a car and regret it only to swap out soon for another, loosing money. Given the situation I stated above, given you could buy either of the 3, keeping in mind with the M2 I would keep my Porsche and with M3/M4 xdrive it would be a replacement for the Porsche 911 C4S (if you will). Which would you have? Need advice from owners of the new 23 M2 , New 24 M3/M4 who perhaps ideally have had new (2020-2023) Porsche 911 C2S, C4S, GTS. Thank you for anyone who leaves input, advice, opinions 🙏🏻
As a guy who owns an m440i with a tune/exhaust/downpipe- I wouldn’t own an m240i without a downpipe and a tune and a set of Rohana wheels. Forget the intake- makes minimal difference
I’m swapping in my 2016 340in for a 2022 m240i. I have the resonators deleted and it sounds so good.. will definitely need to put a down pipe and ecu tune on the m240i
Coming from the m240, I'll take the new m2 any day. I want a manual transmission, rear wheel drive car. The difference in performance and handling is palpable...
The m2 is not 30k more, it’s 68 if you don’t do the carbon package. If you spec out the M240 the same as an m2, there is a 10k difference. It’s a great car but for the money, the M2 is an amazing bargain
I swear all the people in comments haven’t seen a tuned s58. It’s mind blowing. Sure the b58 deserves respect but the s58 makes sooo much more horsepower mod for mod.
ĎO IT! This will 100% be my next car if you do. I'm already looking at them to replace my F32. They are a great looking performance car at a reasonable price point. Plus you don't see many around. My favourite colour is the purple too.
The m240i is probably faster to 60 than the m2 and it has more practicality with being all wheel drive so the m240i wins especially being so much cheaper.
What do you guys think, would you go with the m240 or would you go with the m2? Leave the comments down below!
i like the m2 more better engine and has tons of more potential

Thank you for anyone who leaves input, advice, opinions 🙏🏻
I have the new M2 in a manual and love it! Haven't driven a 911 though so can't really compare.
current gen m2 is now an m3. i'ts big and heavy
almost feels like the supra is closer to the m2 of old than the real m2
As a guy who owns an m440i with a tune/exhaust/downpipe- I wouldn’t own an m240i without a downpipe and a tune and a set of Rohana wheels. Forget the intake- makes minimal difference
I’m swapping in my 2016 340in for a 2022 m240i. I have the resonators deleted and it sounds so good.. will definitely need to put a down pipe and ecu tune on the m240i
i say m240 because for track and backroads u have the m3
Coming from the m240, I'll take the new m2 any day. I want a manual transmission, rear wheel drive car. The difference in performance and handling is palpable...
Beautiful car! not sure she can make any comments on reliability having had a brand new car for less than a year lol.
Do this with my car 😂 I have a ‘17 m240. putting on my ARM DP tomorrow with the help of RUclips University!
Would it be weird for a dude to drive around with this color? I love this color
The m2 is not 30k more, it’s 68 if you don’t do the carbon package. If you spec out the M240 the same as an m2, there is a 10k difference. It’s a great car but for the money, the M2 is an amazing bargain
M2 looks priceless..
M2 all day. Unless it snows and you need awd. Other than that give me the tuned s58 over a tuned b58 any day.
B58 over the s58 ???
I swear all the people in comments haven’t seen a tuned s58. It’s mind blowing. Sure the b58 deserves respect but the s58 makes sooo much more horsepower mod for mod.
@@BTSyayaspot on here ! Both great engines but s58 is an animal
I got the 4-door M240i Xdrive. Ooops sorry. I mean the RS3.
M2 comes in manual. Altho my 18 m240i is manual, but they did away with it in the gen 2. Dumb decision
M240i is the move just not feeling the new m2
Best part is the screen before they updated it..
If isn't manual than it's not worth it. A lazy automatic isn't the way
ĎO IT! This will 100% be my next car if you do. I'm already looking at them to replace my F32. They are a great looking performance car at a reasonable price point. Plus you don't see many around. My favourite colour is the purple too.
f22 gang but these g series are growing on me with aftermarket stuff
She said reliable lol reliable compared to what other models?
240i all day.
The m240i is probably faster to 60 than the m2 and it has more practicality with being all wheel drive so the m240i wins especially being so much cheaper.
I would this over this generation M2 easily
U smashed on that TSX lol 😅
The ONLY reason im considering the m2 g87 over the m240ig42 is because you cant get it in manual 🤦🏿...
was in the same boat about the lci m340 and m3, bought the 340 but regret not getting the m3. trading it in sometime next year
The m240 certainly looks a lot better than the M2 for this new generation, and how can you go wrong with the B58?
Is this the best buy over the G87 M2?
Answer: NO 🤪🤪🤪
Get a z4m40i more rare and same Supra chassis :)
M550i is best to get
Standard suspension, standard brakes, much more civilian look. And it's not an M.
If you're going to rip out all of the M division's R&D and hard work anyway then go for the M240i else just get a proper M car.
