I am proud to say that I have made every single composites component on the MD900, and about 80% of the composites components on the md600 and md520 NOTAR. The MD900 rotor blades themselves are probably the most advanced FRP composite components in the world, and though cery challenging to make they were the most enjoyable thing I have ever made. Cheers for the upload of this video!
Saw one take off here in UK from a hotel field at night in a slightly wooded area ( countryside). I love the front sweep light that came on prior to lift take off :-) .
They just never caught on. And for hot and high operations they are unsatisfactory, they are also slow for the class of helicopter compared to Leonardo A109S they cruise 30 to 40 knots slower. And the amount of fuel they burn is high for their limited performance. When Phoenix PD had their 520N Notars, they quickly renamed them Slotars after their first hot day's flight operations. There are many reasons why PPD bought 520N Notars most of them are very questionable. 🐌

It’s a shame more of these aren’t common in the US
They are popular in the UK
Apparently you can't find parts for this machine very easily. CALSTAR is getting rid of them.
