I love watching these car restoration videos and have done a little myself on my own vehicles but the skill of developing that panel from a few lines drawn on the steel was amazing..can't wait for more of these ...thanks for sharing...👍👍👍
The workmanship is fantastic. We just don't realise the work needed to make a good repair panel. It's not a bodge up job. Great work and my car will be on its way early next year for some work.
What a beautiful repair panel - a true wok of art, and thanks to last weeks video I spent an entertaining time under my NC only to end up covered in very fresh sticky and clean Underseal - Panic over for a while!
I really enjoy your work, owning an rx8 that was based on the mx5 floorpan these are of particular interest, watched your recent video on tools and techniques, it would be cool if you did a similar video with products, why and what to use.
Steve you are such a "Tin Wizard", that panel you made would take most viewers on the channel days to make and would require them to make around 10 attempts at it. Such skills are rare today!
Gotta say, I love living in Australia, never have to worry about your pride and joy rotting like this. I can see how panel shops would do a roaring trade though.
I've just bought an e46 with rust issues. Your videos are very inspiring just to have a go. I'm a beginner with welding and fabrication. Best way is to just have a go right? Thank you for the videos. Gavin
Yes just plan it first and have a go. Don’t loose patience with it and if it gets a little too daunting leave it alone for a while and read, watch vids and plan how your going to tackle it next time. Enjoy the process including the bits that aren’t a tall physical work :)
We are not doing these restorations for profit :) we do it for the love of classic cars and to help others in home repairs as we try to use basic tools.
Yes he can ...much better ! thanks for looking Spezi in Yorkshire 9 /2022 MX5 NC from 7/2014 ! NEW car + Spezial Service.......greeting,s all Miata driver......
This is ridiculous how well you made that box section from scratch with the nut back in place and everything. You should fabricate this section on mass production because mine has gone on both sides. Wish i could have you guys take a look at it.
Hi thanks for uploading this content it's awesome work..I do alot of fabrication on cars the sheet metal that I use on body work in some areas is thin so I can get a corner shape easily with the use of very little tools, however when it comes to floor sections like chassis sections I try to use 2mm or less a friend of mine uses 3mm which I think is overkill and a waste of money as its only as strong as to what its attached to I think 2mm is plenty what do you think? a crumple zone is necessary to take impact through the car not the driver or other occupants I'm not really one for government red tape but I do think that in these cases a little safety is good practice I only now do work on my own cars I try steer clear of any work as I've got some ill say some minor health issues any help would be appreciated thanks.
Hi Stuart. Glad your enjoying the videos :) 👍 as for the chassis and strengthening sections 2mm is plenty , usually the original chassis etc are 1.6mm and that’s what we use :)
Nice video, how thick metal plate do u use for japan cars? I know original should be around 1mm thick + what kind of spray do you use, is it base coat + zinc?
What is the grey primer / epoxy that you are using on the interior & exterior of the replacement panel you formed ? Some of these products may not be available or renamed here in Aussie. Thanks for producing these videos, as for me, they are very interesting and help those of us whom are home restorers, without million dollar workshops
Carros tan nuevos y ya podridos por el salitre deverian de aplicarles ah todos lo que es la carroceria un ailante contra la corrosion muy buen Trabajo un saludo
Just wondering, why did you work to replicate the stamped section on the flat section of the panel? It looked super time consuming to match it so well.
@@yorkshirecarrestoration Awesome, I thought that might be the case! Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing some other reason, keep up the good work :)
Was this car left abandoned on the tides next to an abandoned fish and chip truck? I have seen flex boxes wear out but this makes me think the car was exposed to seawater.
Hi geddon, the cost was time, wedding wire and £5 worth of sheet steel. We don't make these vids so you can goto a shop and pay for what you have seen done, we make then so you can maybe see how it's done and have a go yourself :)

Hi, Why not ? didn't take long and shows people how to do it if they wanted to keep an original look and to transfer that skill to any other panel :)

How long did it really take to fabricate that piece EXCELLENT JOB

Only 2 hrs ,that's impressive work

It’s kind of common for them to rot out as the drain holes tend to drip on them :)
Good old Mazda never learn about rustproofing, The NC rots like an NA and NB!
Yep they rust :)
how long it take you to make repair peace and how long it take from start to finish?
It took me 6 hrs to do all the work I. That video but it was slowed down by me having to move and adjust the camera and lighting all the time :)
