@@nate6045ah yes another internet user with no brain. If you looked closely you might notice that they were pretty high up and that it took them a full 4 seconds to hit the ground. More than enough time to process EVERYTHING.
If it was in fact an accident, it might be possible that the cable had been weakened by frequent use or had extra weight put on it by strong enough winds.
As for “extra weight put onto it” I’m not sure how strong enough winds can generate more than 4.5 metric tons of tensile force on this rope, even this, 4,500kg is the maximum *safe* rated capacity, the critical breaking threshold may likely exceed 5000kg. As for frequent use, hm. Apparently nylon looses about 10% of its strength when exposed to water, I don’t see how this would make the line snap at most 240kg these two men and equipment. In mechanical and structural engineering, concerning tensile stresses, the saying “a chain is only as strong as it’s weakest link” really is a true statement.. There was a weak spot in this rope, either in the form of a snag/snip, or even serious presence of weak cavities in the material through the cross section of the rope which caused it to stretch the remaining material past lims and eventually break. You could be right on the first explanation. Just some will and basic physics is a good foundation.
Being overloaded in the past causes ropes to snap easier, too. If they were second-hand like they said there was a possibility of, there's no way of knowing if they were used how they were intended. Negligence isn't exactly an accident in my opinion lol.
yeah the flags resistance in the wind would have added more weight and strain to the rope. i highly doubt his sons death was murder, sounds just like the talk of a father grieving the loss of his son trying to make sense of it. same way a father whose son commits suicide tries to find answers for why, was he on drugs did someone make him do it - its hard to make sense of or believe. however knowing south america - especially medellin - you never know.

Nylon stands out to me because it's actually directly affected by humidity and moisture that can cause it to become stiffer and easier to break over time. It could just be old equipment or poor maintenance/recertification of that rope.
Most likely it was sun rot, coupled with too many side uses of the line where a previous knot weakened a section in conjunction with sun damage, and likely some sharp dirt rubbing in the loose nylon weaving. The ropes should only have about a 4 year life for human use and about 10 for non overhead threatening environments TOPS and that's with proper storage for brief use cases. I don't understand why they weren't using something with an outer core like a static Kernmantle.

Oh my God, just watching these poor men plummet to their death makes my stomach rise. I've seen a lot of terrible videos but this is one of the few I felt fear from.
Tbh as a Colombian with military dads, that work in the air force, it is still weird revisiting accidents that are so close, you should make a video on another accident with the Colombian air force that happened when the Air force was rehearsing for the F-Air-2023 with the Tucano squad, a member of the group died because of an accident, I remember being on the F-air and seeing the stunt in the honor of the one that died.
Thats an odd form of military demonstration to begin with. The two soldiers are basically just static weights. I'd like to know if that demonstration had ever been performed in Colombia previously.
Colombia has top notch military forces, like the real deal man. Service is mandatory and most of us go and have at least a basic training. This is not the "weirdest" thing they do; btw this imo was a freak accident, obviously the family and others looked for reasons but sadly this was bad luck or something. If you want look for the "bicentenario desfile 20 de julio Colombia" and look our taxes + usa help in action, pretty cool stuff if you are into it
It's indeed sad when good soldiers die like that. At least they had the time to give one last salute. Respect to those honest men from a man in a neighboring country
I thought the title was going to be a little misleading at first, like he was just happened to be saluting when the cable snapped. This was not the case at all. He did not salute until he was already falling. Legend.
I just realized you hit 1m subscribers. Congratulations 🎉, I’ve been watching your videos since the killdozer video. You gave me many years of entertainment and I hope to have many more. Cheers mate.
Yeah, this is likely the correct answer. It's also worth mentioning that the flag would have been pretty heavy and created a ton of drag which puts significantly more stress on the cable than just two men without a flag would have.
@TheLadderman fair. Had the cable been to spec, it still should have held, but who knows how it was stored, how old it was or what their inspection protocols look like. There's a reason the US uses multi level reinforces cables with kevlar and steel fibers. Overkill is underrated
@TheLadderman I don't think that is the case though. The men and the flag are pretty much directly underneath, if there was enough drag to snap the cable there would be visual evidence.
The guys hanging from the helo are the operators. If anyone is going to inspect the rigging on a daily basis, it's them. If I had a guess, it was probably one of those 'it'll be fine' moments, but it wasn't.
I have a hell of a lot of respect for Airman Mosquera and Gamboa. They had a split second to realize they were dead, and the had the composure to go out like soldiers. Columbia is very lucky, even when it isn't.
Wow! It's great to see rare cases. Those poor fellas. Seconds before death, they still saluted without even knowing it would be recorded and posted on YT.
A little known fact is that most helicopter winches have the capability to snap (well explode) the capable by button should the necessity to cut the capable arise.
Such wonderful men should not be expended in such a reckless event. God bless them for their patriotism to the end, but why were they so haphazardly hung from a single cable just to put on a show? Human lives, especially such committed and loyal ones, shouldn't be risked in such a silly reckless way even if they are willing to die for their country
1- Great vid man, respect to them who served their country and did a salute to its people in their last moments 2- some of the comments are straight up disrespecting and mocking these soldiers... thats dissapointing, to be honest
Warriors till the end. Men I would have been honored to serve beside. If I should die, Lord let it be in service of my people. Father bring their family peace
It could have been the proper rope improperly stored, or perhaps kept in service too long. Could possibly be an accident, these things do occasionally happen, but just a little bit of corruption makes it significantly more likely.

It is difficult to find Aguardiente in California. I shall find some and pour 2 glasses of it and salute each man by saying his name, then drink the fire. 2 fine men! Rest in peace!
True men of integrity and fearlessness. I'm going to be real, if that happened to me I would be screaming like a baby. RIP
Now that is love for ones country. Proud an dedicated till the end. Rest in power guys. Il drink to yer memory
All soldiers should wish to go out with such dedication and dignity in the face of death in the line of duty.
Requiescat in pace gentlemen. You were true patriots to the end.
If you want look for the "bicentenario desfile 20 de julio Colombia" and look our taxes + usa help in action, pretty cool stuff if you are into it
Well not anymore.
congrats on 1 million man you defo deserved it was waiting for this day
It's indeed sad when good soldiers die like that. At least they had the time to give one last salute. Respect to those honest men from a man in a neighboring country
I thought the title was going to be a little misleading at first, like he was just happened to be saluting when the cable snapped. This was not the case at all. He did not salute until he was already falling. Legend.
Congrats on 1M mate, happy to have watched for so long
🎉 Congratulations for 1 Million Subs! I've been watching you for a long time and I'm glad you finally get the Award you deserve

Cg!
My heart sinks and my hands pray to those 2 soldiers
I just realized you hit 1m subscribers. Congratulations 🎉, I’ve been watching your videos since the killdozer video. You gave me many years of entertainment and I hope to have many more. Cheers mate.
Congratulations on a well deserved 1 million. Legend!
Heartbreaking yet inspiring they were true soldiers till the bitter end.
Remember when it popped in the news, t'was horrible, endless respect and love to my country's uniformed men and women!
If the cable was old or was improperly stored, it would have its strength reduced horrifically.
I believe you did an excellent job on this particular video. Thank you.
That's so sad .... RIP brave soldiers.
Man Qxir if I had to watch your Videos for the rest of my life I would do that with a Smile and a Salute, Keep going Brotha your a Legend
Didnt need to have soldiers with the flag, couldnt see them anyway. Waste of valuable life
Sad but such a worthy story worth telling. Gr8 show. Well done 🙏.
That is some absolute honor and dedication right there. I would have been flailing or curled up into a little ball.
So sad when someone dies during a celebration R.I.P.
This is so hard to watch. 😢
Great video.❤️
1 million subscribers! Congrats! Well deserved!
The guys hanging from the helo are the operators. If anyone is going to inspect the rigging on a daily basis, it's them. If I had a guess, it was probably one of those 'it'll be fine' moments, but it wasn't.
That's so sad.. They faced death with honor.
Happy Birthday Marines!
So much respect to these two guys. Rest in peace.
Saluting while falling to his death, that soldier is a big W, that made me cry of respect.
I love watching your channel grow.
These were true men. May God rest their souls.
A little known fact is that most helicopter winches have the capability to snap (well explode) the capable by button should the necessity to cut the capable arise.
Congrats on 1 million subscribers, love ur videos
Congrats on one million subs!
Being a counterweight is a tough job

You just gotta luv the unpredictable, rare, and compelling stories and topics this cat entertains ..!!
THANK YOU QXIR DUDE!
Such wonderful men should not be expended in such a reckless event. God bless them for their patriotism to the end, but why were they so haphazardly hung from a single cable just to put on a show? Human lives, especially such committed and loyal ones, shouldn't be risked in such a silly reckless way even if they are willing to die for their country
poor guys
Couldn’t be any more of a class act than that.
Thank you for you content. It is amazing shit man .
Rest easy, brave ones.
That wasn't a Cable, it was a ROPE!
I don't know you. But you were a proud man, full of discipline. I salute you brother.
True patriot of Venezuela
Nothing but admiration
1- Great vid man, respect to them who served their country and did a salute to its people in their last moments
2- some of the comments are straight up disrespecting and mocking these soldiers... thats dissapointing, to be honest
I haven't seen any? So far all are remorseful and/or respectful
@@urbanspirits9157 glad you havent, but I did see some making jokes about it
The salute while falling actually gave me goosebumps. RIP
I salute you back. May you rest in peace, soldiers.
Thats brutal
Rest In Peace to those brave soldiers

That’s quite a haunting picture. They seemed like good, honorable men. It’s a shame they died so young.
Well done on 1 million subs Qxir
Terrible accident, so sorry for the young men and equally sorry for all the loved ones. Such unnecessary pain, I'm truly sorry for their losses.
Warriors till the end.
Men I would have been honored to serve beside.
If I should die, Lord let it be in service of my people.
Father bring their family peace
certified face palm moment
A soldiers love for their nation is why soldiers exist in the first place. If only those nations gave the same respect.
The salute gave me goosebumps
It could have been the proper rope improperly stored, or perhaps kept in service too long. Could possibly be an accident, these things do occasionally happen, but just a little bit of corruption makes it significantly more likely.
They should make a statue of these gentlemen
RIP to both of these soldiers.
ok that is some serious balls of steel !!!!! no words..
No parachutes or anything? guess the green boys never change
That's a bit too low above ground for the parachute to open tho no?
@@Baofuruye it would be
too low to even pull
Life is not Just Cause.
they honestly had a better chance of survival if they didnt have any as its WAY too low
Hmm corruption in a south American country, whaaaaaaaaat no waaaaaaaay
Nothing but respect for that salute.
Lol 1 month no one noticed
Q.E.P.D., héroes nacionales
Previously I would have watched this happening on cable TV...However I decided to "cut the cord" ✂️
well, its not the worst thing that happened in Medellín
I think this is the first time I’ve seen your face. Cheers mate.
