For those who get scared of the sound: It IS supposed to alert you. It tells you to *_listen_* to the following. I actually think knowing that there is a storm is way scarier than the sound.
Same here in western PA, the only areas that I know of in PA that are at chance of getting a severe tornado is Lebanon. I have gotten an EF0 in western pa but it didn't do much since it probably died out in the city right next to me.
When I graduated high school, in the summer time. I got one of these on my TV in the middle of the night, at like 1 AM it woke me up and scared the shit out of me
I remember before when I was 6, thinking eas tones only came from phones. So one night, I heard a tone from my dad's phone, but I didn't care. Suddenly the TV changed, making the same noises and showing this. I almost pissed my pants
this strangely calms me... it gives me a feeling of impending doom but i cant do anything about it so all i can do is sit, listen, wait, and hope. it grounds me. it takes me back to when our power would go out and my family had to gather in the same room with candles and we would spend quality time together, which we never ever did bc everyone was so distracted by tv, phones, or computers. i remember being so happy when this came on and the lights went out bc itd be the only time my depressed little self would get what i wanted and needed from my family, that they would never give to me otherwise no matter how much or in what way i asked, even in times of severe mental health crises. quality time.
When I was 5 I was lying down at 2 am by myself watching tv cause I couldn’t sleep and a test with the beeping noise came on and scared me and my mom came out and turned it on and layed with me, I’m still terrified till this day
These always scare m. Especially during the summer. I hear this sound on the FM radio or the tv and i know... this can never be good. During the winter i'm not too terrified... that sound just means that I most likely won't have school for a day or two.
back in August of 2014 in Oregon where I live there was a thunderstorm that lasted all night. It was the longest thunderstorm I ever seen that I can recall.
We had this happen on my way home from staying with my Grandparents in Southport. My Mom was coming home from a conference in Cincinnati(Long before the Pandemic of Course) We decided to drop in on her parents and got off I-69 at Fishers and were traveling the back roads when the alert sounded. A Huge Supercell with Tornado forming conditions was discovered in the north near Cicero and Muncie, this virtually cut off our route to Michigan unless we Wanted to drive through Terra Haute, Up to Chicago and across along the toll bridge then to old US12 which would've taken forever and the storm began to swing around to cut off Marion County from Hamilton County. Noblesville was the only refuge for us. We called Dad at home and told him our situation and delay and then we both decided to stay at my grandparents. (I'm crazy but I'm not that crazy) Said we needed to crash for the night. The Next day we had to go to the highway overpass via Hazeldale Road because the backroads were cut off by a fallen tree.
I remember hearing this on the radio on the way home from soccer as we were going through the drive through to get ice cream because I scored a goal and I was so happy. I was so terrified and it completely killed the mood lol
God I was driving last night than this clicked on the radio as I was driving thru the storm and before the actual alert I thought a tornado was about to kill me.
One time In mi USA there was many severe thunderstorm warning in almost all of mi me and my mom were in the car to get gas and all of the pumps were closed ad we decided to go tho the store to get a few things and apparently there was a tornado warning so we couldn't buy anything so we drove home and decided to turn on the TV to listen just in case. I already had 4 AA battery's for our radio and we saw that there were tornado warning/watches all around us we never got hit by the tornado and no tornado hit are whole country.
I hate this alert cause when I was a kid I would listen to the radio at night and every time this played I would sprint out of my room to the living room where my parents were.
It was this very day. My friend's little brother walked into the room and asked what these tones meant. He said "It's a zombie apocalypse!!!" Since then I stopped being friends with him for being such a jerk. It was was in a different state btw. I don't live anywhere near Texas, and don't plan on doing so.
Bro who else remembers when it was thundering outside and this sh** came on. And it would be loud as heck, to this day I’m still scared crapless of this
Yo is this just me or his voice and that sound in the beginning gives me the creeps????? I will literally scream if I heard this in the middle of the night.

Yeah I’m also from there, we get lots of thunderstorms in the winter; our seasons are as follows: Rain, much less rain, rain a second time, cold rain.

Looking this up at 2 am is just creepy.
My mom and me were driving in a horrible storm and when this came on on the radio I had a literal heart attack
