Now you would think the end of December would be a little quieter as everybody settles into a nice calm holiday routine right!? Wrong! There is no slowing down, and we’ve got a week of huge progress. SpaceX's Starship and Super Heavy both unleashed the fury! How are they now? Loads more, not only from SpaceX in Texas, but loads from Vandenberg and Florida, mixed with a little sadness scattered in. What on Earth happened to Falcon 9 Booster 1058? And how great was that Falcon Heavy flight? Well, never fear my friends, we have got you covered, and oh was there a lot more to jump into as we close off the year.

Me too! This is my Saturday morning (California) routine
Marcus's videos are an essential for kicking off my weekends !
We were lucky to see FH from a field close to our house in West Palm Beach area. Which is 200 miles away. From here we could see the stage separation, the boost back burn, the center stage burn until it was a spec in the sky, then we saw the booster burn in for a landing. Fun stuff!

And the Starlink launch just a few hours later --- that almost went directly overhead! Beautiful jellyfish plume on that one!
The shockwaves visible in the steam clouds from all those raptors is so cool.
Yes, that was weird, it looked like a video glitch. I would like to see that in slow motion from high speed film footage.
@@richardconway6425 If you watch the IFT2 video you can see them much more prominently since all the engines are running at full power there.

You really do have the most comprehensive update videos. Thank you, keep at it! Good that you mentioned newer Falcon 9 boosters already have upgraded hardware to prevent what happened - many people kinda missed that. I think a lot of people have not fully comprehended just how old this booster was, and how fast SpaceX iterates. I guess that's understandable given how reuse is a relatively new concept.

The SpaceX pace of operations is outstanding. I know some say Blue Origin is a competitor, but think of all of the infrastructure they still need to build and test flights needed for New Glenn. I think their next milestone is to just get the BE-4 flight proven in 2024 on the upcoming Vulcan rocket. Nice work this year Marcus - I hope you have a nice new year holiday, and can't wait to see all of the Space progress in 2024!
It's not really a competitor at all as far as launch vehicles. Falcon 9 is the most used rocket in history. Falcon heavy is operational and can lift the same payload as new glenn.
However I like some of the other approaches Blue is talking that no one else is. I really like the idea of blue ring and hope it is successful, I also like vision Bezos has of building reliable infrastructure in space around earth.
I think we will see a split between the two companies after new Glenn is operational. Once they have thier own reliable launch platform I think they will focus of the space infrastructure. No one else is and they can corner that market.

I watched both static fires ! Booster 10 was fueled in less than a hour ! Must say booster 10 scared the 💩 out of me ! But it survived !

Yesterday was my day off in recognition of New Year's Eve Observed since New Years is on Monday.
