Maybe most people in the world are just decent people, it's just that they don't do much crazy stuff so we don't hear about them as often and their actions are drowned by the real brain dead people doing brain dead things which the media loves to share.

As someone who works at subway I will say we are trained to do whatever the customer wants. We will toast the sandwich as many times as they want as long as no fires start.
