Don't know if you understood, but when River says the day is comming that the Doctor won't recognise her and it'll kill her, is exactly what happened in the Silence in the Library two-parter.
Its really interesting because we normally only see the doctor through the eyes of people he likes and trusts. So we think of him as friendly and quirky. But here, hes suddenly uncomfortable and upset with his friends and we get a glimpse of how he appears to people he doesnt like. He's scary, powerful and formidable; which is fine when he's on your side, devastating when he's not.
One other thing I'm not sure if you picked up on: the actor who played older Canton (William Morgan Sheppard) is the real-life father of young Canton (Mark Sheppard) . William Morgan sadly passed away in 2019.
“The Legs, The Nose, Mrs. Robinson” omggg lol I know you’ve mentioned not being crazy about the teasing, and I do understand. I think I come from a place of knowing that the chemistry (even at a friend level) is natural between the four of them: Amy, Rory, River, and Smith’s Doctor. So I find it lands well for me most of the time. And that was an example of a great funny jab lol
the most ambitious and best opener so far. this is the first opener that is almost a finale. in more ways than one. just very entertaining to watch as well. 10/10
hi guys, I just stopped by to mention that someone once suggested that the ultimate predator would be a Weeping Angel + Gray Alien fusion from today's episode. If you stop seeing it, you forget it's there and you have to look to stop it.
One thing I love about Moffat is his ability to come up with monsters and how they're based on either simple or universal ideas. In season 1 there was the empty child, just a kid in a gasmask but made him terrifying as hell (well maybe for younger audiences, but certainly creepy). In season 3 he had the brilliant idea of "what if statues were alive?" in season 4 he reaffirmed the idea of why we're afraid of the dark and in now he has in how I've always interpreted these monsters a"what if the things you see from the corner of your eye for that split-second were real". Such amazing concepts. In season 2 he also came up with the clockwork robots, while they're particularly scary they are definitely rememberable and unique designs edit - it feels good to be starting season 6
I'm so glad you are finally at this season! Based on how you reacted to last season, I've been super curious how you will react to this season. The wine 🍷 is one of the running gags from Classic Who to now.
when river said that there will be a day where the doctor will not recognice her and that will going to kill her... i thought... literally (the library) (that is a very sad episode when you get to know her)
Glad to see you both again, luckily still got a couple of months before summer starts here but condolences of the flaming heat with you and your filming. I agree with Phil, the different responses from the doctor or our seeing his attitude to them as they hide the upcoming future from him brings out the distrust from him as he knows something is going on - a very scary individual to be on even the slightly wrong side off. Brings to mind the waters of mars episode for the depth of the doctors character with us only seeing the mainly positive aspects but he does have these deep disturbing facets that suggest he might not always be the "hero" in all his interactions with various individuals and species throghout his lifetime. Or at least the potentual what if perspective. Look forward to the next episode and the rest of the season too. Keep cool !
London has been so consistently hot all summer as well (its never like this here normally), Ive finally decided that I need to travel with a fan on me! They are a life saver! lol
omg so excited, I have to jump on a call in like 5 minutes but I saw this dropped and wanted to send my appreciation real quick!! Will be back to watch this shortly 😎
@@stevemorganexperience7833 I was welcoming them back from vacation. They took a break, but were nice enough to keep a steady flow of bonus vids uploading while they were gone.
As much as I am a David Tennant fan I've got to say my favourite season is this one with Matt, it's just seems to be the one I can always rewatch over and over. So it be interesting to see how you take all this in.
This is my favourite season opener. It’s certainly a bold move to kill off The Doctor in the first 10 minutes! I love that the older Doctor had a diary by that point in his timeline that he could sync with River’s and their chemistry together is brilliant. Great reaction as always. Looking forward to ep2!
(They haven’t named them yet at the point you’re at so I just call it a “thing”)- Which would be worse to be told is standing behind you? A weeping angel or one of these things?
An excellent season opener with one of the best-ever combinations of companions working together. And once again, I'm disturbed by what seems to be a double standard on Phil's part when he sees a woman physically strike a man and says, "Good for her." What would Phil have said had the roles been reversed? What exactly constitutes equality in his mind?
Nice to have you chaps back, and I'm glad you enjoyed the series opener! There's something about the tone of this episode, or at least parts of it, that means it doesn't really work for me. I don't know if the Florida scenes were shot by a different unit, or at a different time, but I wish I could wave a magic wand and change them in some way that I can't put my finger on.
really? the florida scenes in particular? they often rightly get brought up for being some of the best looking and most modern shots the show has had. doctor who cant look like the cheap classic stuff or the golden cheesy rtd era glow forever even if that has sentimental value.
I think this episode is better than the entire season 5 XD I'll be a little evil now and point out that if it'd been Ten posing nude and hiding under a woman's skirt, or saying "What good are you if you're not saying how clever I am?", there would have been a rant ;)
I didn't notice any speech impediment. The majority of criticisms on youtube come from are from people that watch, but have never contributed content for others and never will.

Perhaps too ambitious.
@@stevemorganexperience7833 I think it's overrated. The last two parter was a lot better.

Unreal two-parter! Especially for an opening 2 episodes!
Re: the stammering etc, that's a really petty thing to complain about imo.
Your burning opening is identical to my situation.

We get some Reese's cups, and each get 1. That seems pretty equal.
This season is wacky and chaotic, but I do quite enjoy it!

@@dutchman8887 It's not the look, it's just something about the episode and maybe especially those scenes that doesn't quite gel for me.
you clearly lack perspective. Those shots were good. @@andrewgwilliam4831
