Welcome to the fabulous world of Home Free! They are my favorite a cappella group. They are made up of 5 of the most talented & humble guys. They are known for their tight harmonies, having one of the best bass singers with a 5 octave range (Tim Foust) & Adam Rupp's incredible vocal percussion. They do awesome covers of songs but also write a lot of original songs (3 of them are songwriters). Hope you check out more of them. Most people start out with "Man Of Constant Sorrow".
Shawn Stockman from Boyz II Men was one of the judges on the "Sing Off" that Home Free won back in 2013 & he was a big fan of these guys from the start. I'm sure he loved their version of this song

Tim (the bass) is a true base. He can fly up with the tenors but can then sink down to the depths of the ocean. Adam Rupp (I can't believe they added a third Adam....) is a master vocal percussionist which surpasses regular beat boxers with his percussion quality. Tim (and Chance who also sings bass) and Adam Rupp make this group stand out since that is the foundation of most music (bass and beat).

Home Free is NOT a cover band. They are the only country a capella band. Their percussion member: Adam Rupp is a two-time beatboxing champion. Check out his drum solo video.

IMO, nothing will ever replace the original magic from hearing Boyz 11 Men sing this masterpiece, & I am so happy that Home Free, was able to keep the original integrity of the song, yet still inject their own magic, allowing us, to fall in love with it, all over again 💕 *I don't believe any other group, other than Home Free, could have pulled this off, & the fact that they are an a Capella group, puts them on a completely different level of skill & talent* 💕

You say way back in the day in the nineties and I have to laugh as I'm 74. Thanks for doing the reaction to this song. Home Free is an acapella group that cover many genres of music. The guy singing lead was Rob, the next one in was Austin and the bass was Tim. Their beatboxer was Adam Rupp. The other gentleman was Chance.

Home Free is one hell of a rabbithole to dive down. If you haven't, I'd also check out Pentatonix and Voiceplayers.
The fans are called Home Fries, Pentaholics, and Voiceplayers. And we will crawl out of the woodwork to watch people who've never seen them before, react to them.
Each group has hundreds of songs, original and covers, humorous, serious, all kinds.

Although they do covers, they also do lots of original songs (3 of them are song writers). You ain't seen nothing yet - they have around 300 videos. Not including fancam videos, their solo work (they each have channels of their own), and 2 different behind-the-series videos. If you're into beatboxing, you'll love their vocal percussionist - THE best beatboxer in THE best acapella band. Dive down the rabbit hole!

I am a true home fry (home free lover). They do covers and original music. For a cover that many people listen to as an intro to their talent is Man of Constant Sorrow. They also have a funny side as evident in Hillbilly Bone or the Butts Remix. Only in America is yet another side or How Great Thou Art. It is a great journey to go down the Home Free rabbit hole. For social comment check out Everybody Walking this Land or Don't Laugh at Me. I could comment for hours about them as I think they are very talented and can do most any genre. If you like the second guy then listen to their cover of When a Man Loves a Women. Adam Rupp is their beat box guy. He has a lovely singing voice but as a beat boxer, he is not human - he swallowed a drum kit. The base, Tim can hit rock bottom. Ohhhh and another cover they did with the Oakridge Boys where they have pure fun as they collaborate on Elvira.

Home Free History - Home Free is the world's only known country acapella band, so far. They are in a completely unique genre of their own. There are plenty of acapella groups and there are plenty of country artists and bands, but Home Free made history by combining the two. There are of course, blue grass, but that is different. Home Free do a lot of covers, but they are far from being a cover band as they have plenty of originals too. They just love music and they love taking a song that one or all of them love and give it their own spin. It's commonly thought that Home Free doesn't cover a song, they upgrade it. They were formed back in 2001 by brothers Adam and Chris Rupp and some friends. During a draw Adam was "chosen" to be the beatboxer. He's now one of the world's most skilled vocal percussionists. They've been through several member changes over the years, and had several people come in temporarily for a long time, but they have been touring pretty much this whole time. In 2008 Rob Lundquist joined the band full-time. He's the gentle teddybear singing lead here. He's a vocal chameleon and can sing anything from country, to soul, to even opera. In 2012, after years of subbing on and off, bass singer Tim Foust joined full-time, and in early 2013 the high tenor in this video, the lead in the chorus, Austin Brown joined the band full-time. They applied to acapella talent show The Sing Off later that year, and they auditioned with a country song. They had a few in their repetoir but wasn't a dedicated country band at this time. The Sing Off Producers said that if they went country they were in. So they did, and they won. Chris Rupp, who's a baritone, decided to leave the band in 2016 and they brought in Adam Chance to fill his spot. They have just now been through another member change as Austin Brown decided to leave to focus on building a home life with his wife as well as his budding solo career. The new member is Adam Bell-Bastien, who used to sub in the band before The Sing Off aired. They now have 3 Adams so they all go by their last names, Rupp, Chance and Bastien (bass as the fish and teen). They have released only one sing with Bastien so far. He's less country than Austin, but he's a great addition. Their concerts are an experience worth having, so if they ever come your way make sure to go see them. They are true entertainers. Do more reactions to them and the Home Fries, their fan base, will join you. We love our Home Free reactors and it's a deep rabbit hole with more than 300 videos. They have also collaborated with some big names including The Oak Ridge Boys, Kenny Rogers, Don McLean (on 3 songs - American Pie, Vincent and the title track of his latest album American Boys), Mark Wills, Billy Gillman and a bunch of others.

    @GaiaOne 18 дней назад +2

And...another one falls down the rabbit hole. You are so doomed. We’ll save you a chair.
You’re about to be buried in Home Fries. Brace yourself.
Home Free is the only country a capella group out there, but they can - and do - sing every genre. And they have no lead singer. Every one of these men can take the lead, and they pick the lead for each song by who does it the most justice. During quarantine, they kept all us Home Fries sane by dropping new videos every couple of weeks while they were scattered across the country. God bless ‘em.
All the men can beat box, but Adam Rupp is in a league of his own. He’s a world-class vocal percussionist and there’re good reasons he’s called a “Freak of Nature” and “the man who swallowed a drum kit.” For more of Adam’s incredible beat boxing, check out Sea Shanty medley (the man makes castanets, for Pete’s sake), his no-monica solo on Working For A Living and Ain’t Going Down Til The Sun Comes Up (that video is on Facebook), Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer (sleigh bells? seriously?) or his drum solos.
For more of Tim’s seismic basso profundo, listen to Brothers In Arms, Misty Mountains (his collaboration with Peter Hollens), Folsom Prison Blues, or Ring Of Fire (the Sing Off version). This man’s range is incredible. You won’t want to miss his 5-octave run in 5 seconds in “Do You Hear What I Hear?” Tim also has a solo channel which you can view at www.timfoustmusic.com
For Chance’s smooth baritone/bass, check out Skull & Bones, Down to the Honky Tonk, Brothers In Arms, Cover Me Up, I Can’t Outrun You, and Folsom Prison Blues. (Awesome... a basso profundo and a baritone/bass in the same group.) FYI, Chance is singing (throat singing) the jaw harp sounds - without the jaw harp - in Man Of Constant Sorrow. Adam was formerly a member of Street Corner Serenade from 2010 - 2016 before joining Home Free in 2016 after the departure of co-founder Chris Rupp. You can find his solo work and collaborations at www.theadamchance.com
For Rob’s soulful tenor, check out End of the Road, Blue Ain’t Your Color, or Bless The Broken Road. (Blue-eyed soul is in good hands with The Beard.) One Home Fry has described him as the vocal equivalent of a Swiss Army knife because of his versatility. Just wait until you hear him whistle! Rob and his friend Buegs host a podcast called “The Avid Indoorsmen” where they review movies, etc. You’ll find Buegs’ cameo in the Home Free video “The Butts Remix.” He’s wearing overalls. Don’t worry - you can’t miss him. You can check out their podcast at www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-avid-indoorsmen--3265024
For Austin’s soaring tenor, check out Crazy, Moonshine, When A Man Loves a Woman, or Bring Him Home. (But bolt down your chair ‘cause he’ll sing you right out of it.) Austin left HF in June 2024. He’s newly married, and hasn’t been at home for Christmas in ten years due to Home Free’s heavy touring schedule. There are hundreds of videos with him, though, so you’ll still run into his work. You can also check out his solo work at www.austinbrownmusic.com
Adam Bastien stepped into Austin’s tenor spot in June 2024. He’s currently on tour with HF, but we haven’t had a chance to see him in any videos yet. Home Free introduced him right, though. He debuted at the Grand Ole Opry with the Home Free men on June 22, 2024.
So, yeah. Three of the five members of Home Free are named Adam. You’ll hear them referred to as “Chance,” “Bastien,” and “Rupp.” If they’re just using the name Adam, they’re talking about Adam Rupp, vocal percussionist extraordinaire.
For their humor, check out Butts Remix, Working For A Living, Life Is A Highway, Between A Rock And A Heartache, Make You Feel My Love, Brother, and Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget (The older video. Tim wrote the worst country song he could think of, and it remains one of their most requested.) A word about “Brother” - if you want to hear the lyrics, you’re going to have to listen with your eyes closed, ‘cause otherwise you’ll never get past the humor of the video to actually hear what they’re singing.
For their amazing arrangement skills, check out Do You Hear What I Hear. (Adam’s arrangement. Nothing else like it.)
For their tight harmonies, check out Helplessly Hoping, How Great Thou Art, Brothers In Arms, or Auld Lang Syne.
For their mashups, check out Thinking Out Loud/Let’s Get It On, Fishing in the Dark/Boondocks, Country Fried Pop, or Woman, Amen/Female.
The Home Free men are masters of collaborations. They put the spotlight on their collaborator, supporting them with wonderful vocals and amazing harmonies. Check out God Bless the USA with Lee Greenwood, American Pie and Vincent with Don McLean, Elvira with The Oak Ridge Boys, Children Go Where I Send Thee with the late Kenny Rogers, Don’t Laugh At Me with Mark Wills, Christmas In Dixie with Alabama, Delta Dawn with Brooke Eden, or Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For with Peter Hollens.
Get at least five videos under your belt and then listen to Mayday - the official video. After Mayday, you’ll be ready for Tim and Austin doing My Maria or Tim’s mashup of Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay.
Then, when you come up for air, check out Rob’s and Austin’s “Two Country Singers Try Singing Opera.” You’ll need smelling salts after that one.
Don’t miss their official videos. The Home Free men will often do a straight, gorgeous vocal performance, but they’ll add elements of humor to the video that will leave you chuckling or even laughing out loud. (Folsom Prison Blues, Between A Rock And A Heartache, Make You Feel My Love, Working For A Living, Brother, Life Is A Highway).
And God help you when you get hit with the Home Free Curse. They’ll cover a song you absolutely cannot stand and make you like it against your will. I’d been hit by the curse four times before I gave up and quit counting. I’m not the only victim of the Home Free Curse, either.
Although their covers are amazing, don’t miss their original compositions. They range from the the poignant (So Long Dixie) to the patriotic (Land Of the Free). These include Dive Bar Saints (one of my favorites), Road Sweet Road, Catch Me If You Can, Lonely Girl’s World, The Stargazer Trilogy (Give Me A Sign, Stargazer Lilies, MR), Champagne Taste On A Beer Budget, Love Me Like That, Skull And Bones, and many, many more.
Their synergy is phenomenal. Each is an artist in his own right, but man - when they sing together, magic happens. Wicked talent polished by decades of hard work. (Unchained Melody, Castle On The Hill, Seven Bridges Road, Only In America) To paraphrase another Home Fry, “They don’t just own a cover, they upgrade it.”
You are doomed, Home Fry. Bring ketchup.

Subbed for more Home Free. One of the greatest acapella groups out there. Huge catalog of great covers and originals. Try the Butts Remix to see their fun but very talented side!

Had to chuckle when you said you got "country vibes" from the first singer, Rob! 😂 He's the least country in the group! He's from Minneapolis! 😉

FYI The gentleman, Rob, your getting country vibes from is a Minnesotan! lol That being said he has a ton of soul.
Austin, Tim and Chance have southern roots.

You are making me laugh so hard talking about the r and b and soul from the 1990s. Sweetie, I was sitting in the original Mississippi Delta blues shacks in the 1970s listening to the likes of BB King, Muddy Waters, and other gaints that carried this sound forward from the original Robert Johnson.

HF covers are almost always at last as good as the originals, often better, but HF is so much more than "another cover band". They have had original music on nearly every album since the first post-Sing Off one. Thy are billed as country, but as you just heard, they do a lot more than country. But one thing never changes - the music is top notch, the harmonies are fantastic, the bass and 'drums' are really the best in any a capella group. Just dive into the nearly 200 official videos and enjoy the ride.

I'm subscribing because I love your attitude. 👍
Thank you for playing this! It takes me back to my 20s. And you're right....a lot of musicians don't have the soul like the singers in my youth.
I'm gonna request a blues player who does a Jimi Hendrix cover so fire, you'd think his guitar needed a cigarette afterwards!

These guys are so awesome! Rob took us to church. All the sounds you hear come from their voices. The bass came from Tim Foust, the beat boxing is from Adam Rupp. Austin Brown was the second singer to sing. The man in the back is Adam Chance he also can sing baritone and base. Love your reaction!
