- JESUS HEARD THE DISTRESS OF A WOMAN WHO SAW
NO LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL !
My dear beloved friends, I greet you all in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I am very glad to share a brief testimony with you. I come from a very poor family; I was born in Dupor Timung Village, near Dokmoka Bazar, Karbi Anglong. My father's name is Lt. Mukhim Lekthe and my mother's name is Basdoi Killingpi. Due to poverty in the family, I had to undergo various problems and situations in my life; I did not know
the One True Living God at that time. As a singer, I entertained people in various stages and became very popular and successful as a singer. I married a well to do person, one Mr. Terang but my marriage hit rock bottom; my in-laws hated me because I came from a poor family. There was no peace at home. I had food and shelter but I was lost and sadness surrounded my life; worst, my husband took to drinking and began to beat me every day. I had no choice but to accept my situation as it came.
In the year 1988, when I was pregnant, my husband who was fully drunk that day, beat me to dead; I sought for help but nobody could rescue me because my husband had locked the doors and windows from inside. As I lay dead, my husband threw my lifeless body outside. People gathered around my body, some cried and some poured water on my head. In that moment of time, I suddenly had a glimpse of a 'Cross', than in the clouds above, I heard a gentle audible voice speaking to me, "Daughter ! Do not be dismayed, you are alive, for your life is in my hand; I know how miserable you are, be patient, for I shall deliver you from your trouble". As the 'Cross' disappeared from the clouds, I came back to my consciousness again.
The experience amazed me and I pondered what it all meant; I did not know Christ at this point; I decided to keep this mystery to myself, least my in-laws considered me a lunatic as they hated me to the core; I continued and participated in all pagan ceremonies and rituals, while remaining a Shiv bhakt at the same time. Deep inside my heart, I expectantly awaited the fulfillment of the promise of the Cross. A few days later, I gave birth to a male child, whose body was inflicted with scar marks but the child survived and grew up to be a healthy boy.
By 1999, peace in the family was a far cry; my alcoholic husband became afflicted with diabetics and the conditions of his health deteriorated. Family members became heartbroken. Inspite of his bad health, my husband continued to beat me. He passed away in the year 2000. My brother-in-law, Mr. Ajit Terang who witnessed my miserable life, had pity on me and proposed to marry me and we got married. Though we share no decent house and lack necessities of life, we led a happy married life.
We re-settled at Chirikangnep, Bakmari, Diphu where we set up a grocery shop. One day an evangelist visited our grocery store and handed us a Tract. My husband went through the tract and recommended me to read the track as the message in the track was very touching. The tract read:"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."[Mathew 11:28] and another message read: "....he that believeth on me hath everlasting life"[John 6:47]. We decided to accept the call of Jesus Christ. We invited the evangelist who gave us the track and on 28th July, 2002, we took water baptism and accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour.
After I accepted the Lord, all the heavy burdens that I carried before accepting the Lord was lifted away and I found peace and happiness. I have no words to express my happiness today. My husband loves and cares for me and we both share the Gospel to others together. All this is possible because Jesus is real and alive. In 2007, 'Pharkonglangso Believers Church' was built with the support of the Mission Department. My zeal for the Lord found expression in my singing; accordingly, I was able to record a new Gospel Album with the support of Mission Department. I am thankful to the Lord as my people were blessed listening to the Gospel Album.
My beloved brothers and sisters, one must believe in the True Living God for receiving Eternal life. Jesus promised Eternal Life, if we believe in His name. I am thankful to God for His mercies, as He has transformed my life and given me peace of mind. Friends, I wish that, your life too can be transformed as God did in my life. Thank you!
