His gun is basically a portatile Death Star.
Actually its more like a gun based Omega Beam. The entire character is like a love letter to Jack Kirby (Long Live the King!!!) cosmic characters his like Orion/Black Racer/Silver surfer armed with gun that shoots Darkseid's Omega Beams.

Granted a lot of these stories were written a while ago but kind of funny how people still use asteroid belts as if they're tightly packed with asteroids when in most cases they're either extremely fine like dust or the chunks are several thousand feet apart if not many miles apart.

To summarize, it’s an indestructible gun that fires an unstoppable ray of energy, and by unstoppable, I mean UNSTOPPABLE. Once fired that ray will continuously travel in the direction it was shot, forever obliterated whatever planet, sun or asteroid.
