The designer said that if you play using all the modules and take out a wild and double wild you’ll make the game near impossible to beat, he also said if Thanos gets five of the six infinity stones he doubts you’d win (they haven’t) Good luck to those who try.
The variety of heroes is what sold Marvel Legendary for me, which to this day pumps out expansions and I'm still amazed how well they can capture feeling of different heroes/villains, like destructive Hulk, nimble Spider-Man, size-changing Ant Man or even slapstick Deadpool.

I went all in for X-men . After seeing this I went SUPER all in for everything. Deluxe goodies included. I must say this is nicely shot Alex. And makes everything look beautiful (Let's face it, teaming up Spidey with the X-men, or playing the extended Guardians of the Galaxy like Yondu and Mantis is hard to pass up!)
This is a great game. I was not convinced at the time of the KS but the gameplay is simple yet satisfying. Equally great for younger and older players, and it has so much easy to access variety with the expansions. We find the heroes vary quite a bit especially once you start combining them against different villains.
Seeing you opening the boxes, I was suddenly struck that we need to get you a proper knife. One of those massive ones where people will say "That's not a knife, it's a short sword!" The sort of thing you could sit in a helicopter sharpening, and all of the 90's action heroes would stay silent in appreciation.
I had an all-in pledge for this all the way up until the last couple hours of the campaign. And... I think I dodged a bullet? I basically agree with all of your points. The minis are amazing, the the base game is too simple, the expansions add some additional mechanics, but the character decks are different enough. Most of the cards in each deck are generic cards.
I was THOROUGHLY impressed by that speed reading around 12:50. And then I realized the video was on 1.5x still, since it carried over from the previous video. Hoofta. I didn't even notice the whole time haha.
Played it nine times within the first week (just core box and stretch goals were only have one expansion), children like it, I like it, X-Men Kickstarter is safe for me 😁 to us, the characters do feel different even with the wild cards. Hulk is smashing, Falcon is flying, Dr. Strange knows a lot and can do magic... But yes, the characters in the core box are not the most exciting 🤷
Can you tell me the weight of the Cardboards? I'm thinking about getting the Late Pledge, but I can't get the weight information from anyone in the community and not even CMON.
Regarding spider-ham. Gag characters have always been a big trop in comic books. On it's own I would have disliked the character, but because of the history of gag character, I love the tribute. I would have liked to see a couple more gag characters included as well.
I have little interest in playing this but I must say they did a really good job with the chibi art. I am not even a fan of that style but I would not be ashamed to see my shelves filled with Marvel united.
Eh.. As a diehard marvel fan I was sort of interested, but watched some playthrough, red some stuff and it fell quite flat.. Characters felt too similar :/

Man I got this really late on my feed. Kraven is a wild game hunter. He wants to hunt the hardest game which is.... spiderMAN. It would be cool to see how hollywood brings him to the theater in this day of age. Will he be like Donald jr character. Or will they just make him be a super evil guy with no depth. Or would they give him depth have morals and be a hero for the public, but that turns out to be a true villain, sort of like what they did to mystero.
@@aorakis5795 Some Expansions have new challenge cards. With them you can modify the difficulty. And some of the villains (if you go all-in of the Kickstarter) are stronger than the others.
I kinda have to disagree on that they don't feel different, i get what you say but might be my playing group but we had hulk, venom and daredevil and all 3 were different decks for example hulk can clear everything with some cards(hulk smash?) Venom is kinda aggressive too but had NO heroic action cards and daredevil was the opposite.
Got all of it... I love X-men but don’t know if I want to pay another $250+ for the same light game play and tons of boxes. I almost wish it was just the core with stretch goals and NO expansions. Too much FOMO.
@@82ndmi 30 min to play including the setup and, most probably, remove the game once you finish? I don't think so even marvel champions require at least 10 minutes to have it on the table and is a super easy game to setup
The funny thing is that I just watched another reviewer say the exact opposite of what you said regarding the heroes playing differently. Especially Hulk who has mostly attack cards.
(If you mean dice tower if I recall correctly they said the heroes feel somewhat differently. Not in a big way. But I think Tom defended it by saying that there were superhero games in which there were literally no mechanical differences aside from the miniature.)

Still hate that the beautiful marvel game is essentially a villainous tier Walmart coop game. Marvel xmen is a must though, 1vall is a big addon (and magneto feels really different being played as a human lead villain), even if you just get one box for it. Good call though on check the mechanics, the game is much better with thanos, sinister 6, and Loki. But has no noticeable difference in quality with spider,black panther, or guardians that have weak mechanics addons.
I was totally out of budget when this was on KS. Seeing this video gave me tremendous FOMO. Marvel's universe is humongous and the amount of Mutants on the X-Men series (with Heroes, villains and others) is at least as large as the big box you showed,.. but it is of course larger. I am wondering if I managed to afford an All-In for EVERYTHING (or at least all X-Men content), ... would I be able to play it at all?, how long would it take to go through all possible ideas my group comes up with? How fast would we just go: "Screw it, Fantasy team, time!, let's play whoever and sort out whatever rules we like!", it is clear that the system is prepared for most types of scenarios like that, so it does feel like it will make it interesting to play. ... I would also run out of shelf space! XD!!! Fun video, thank you!!
I passed on this Kickstarter due to financial restrictions at the time of the campaign and the fear that the gameplay was not interesting enough for such an expensive product (as a Marvel fan, if I would get it, I would want it all). Watching this unboxing only confirms my conflicting views: Yes cool minis, yes a lot of choice from favorite villains and heroes, but enough variation in the gameplay?

Fun little game for younger kids. It has potential if harder expansions are added. The playmat is great and highly recommended. The regular solo mode is not good but multi hand is very easy to do. I will play through the unofficial campaign on bgg at least once in full. I did enjoy it for the lighter game that it is but for true solo a game like cloudspire is much better.

If you play on heroic, getting rid of 2 wild cards, then the characters feel more unique. But I'm glad Yandu solved your issue!
Also, some characters (Dr. Strange) have more than 3 special cards.
.... So you haven't played this much? When you play adult mode (without wilds), all characters feel wildly different in the game.

Played this for the first time last night, 3 games at 4 players. Beat Baron Demo and lost to Kang and Kingpin. We enjoyed it. Hope you do too!

That’s because you are playing on easy mode. Play on the hardest mode without the generic wildcard cards and they play a lot less similar.

@@TableTopWolf1984 I play on heroic now. The win rate is very high but I am hoping for gauntlet enemies to be harder.
