Amazing to just be out and about and stumble across this sort of thing, can't wait to visit Japan and experience some of this rich culture. Thanks for filming and sharing.
I was expecting Deckard and Roy Batty to come running past that staircase at the start! 😉 Very cool to see all those floats and lanterns and then the peaceful train station afterwards at the end.
The sushi bar BladeRunner scene was actually filmed on the same set as the one used for Gremlins Chinatown Street and Shop Entrance in LA Warner Studios, guide told us that on our Tour there in 2019 🤠✌️
That certainly put me in a festive mood. We don't even have the run of Italian and Greek Festivals until late summer over in my state, and those are usually the only ones we get. I unfortunately had to miss a Portuguese festival several towns over this year, and it was the first one in two years. I know that sometimes they throw a Japanese festival in Boston, but I only went once and only found out about it by accident and didn't bring enough money with me for street foods.
@@RetroCore Kinda didn't know they were having street food anyway, but then again, I didn't know I'd be going. I did buy some sort of small box of cookie coated chocolate coated peanuts that had some Sentai character on it.
I always love these Life in Japan videos. Shimonoseki while, a small city (small by Japanese standards), seems like a cool city. Makes me wish I would have been a bit more brave and decided to come to Japan instead of Korea. But I was worried about being placed in the middle of nowhere. Could have been a good experience though ^^. Thanks for sharing.
Ah, this isn't Shimonoseki, it's Kokura, the city where I work. Shimonoseki does have its own big festival called the Bakan Matsuri but thanks to the CCP Virus (covid) it has been cancelled the past 3 years.
Festival dedicated to Muhomatsu. A local folk hero (A.K.A. Rickshaw Man). This all I could find out about a man & festival dedicated to him as of right now. 🎊🎊🎊
I've just found your channel. I started by watching some of your oldest videos. This October, you should get your son to do a 10th anniversary re-play of Sonic CD. I'm fascinated how long you've lived in Japan for, and what you do for a living there?
Thanks for watching. Ah, some of the old videos are terrible 😅. My son is 15 now so he doesn't really play games with his dad anymore. That's not cool 😢 My job is complicated but let's just say I arrange visas, insurance, housing and so on for foreigners who teach English in Japan.
Lol, nah. I've always loved a drink. Actually, when I go out it's more of a socialising thing than anything else. True, I have a few but I'm never wasted and always able to walk and remember everything.
Me encantan estos videos!
thank for another vid, from my fav youtuber.
You're very welcome.
Thank you for sharing . Since I am unable to take a vacation . I can enjoy watching your scenic and gaming videos. Keep up the great work. 👍
Sorry to hear about the lack of vacation. I have a similar issue too. Hope to at least get a week off in August.
What a pleasant surprise. I love these videos Mark, keep them coming.

Especially since it was cancelled the past two years thanks to the CCP virus.
More videos like this please :) (but also keep up the same gaming content too)
When something of interest is happening, I'll grab some footage. I mostly have my phone with me 👍

😅It was quite atmospheric wasn't it. That was the fire exit on the side of the building where I work.

Thanks for this! Loved it!

Such amazing vigor with the performance.

Bummer that you didn't have the cash to buy Street food. That's the main part of a festival.

Nice. Looked like something out of Legend of the Mystical Ninja/Goeman
Lol, it does now that you mention it.

@@RetroCore thats unfortunate. Hopefully it starts up again soon ^^

You know more than me 😅. I've know about this festival for 20+ years but never bothered to find out what it was all about.
@@RetroCore I cheated. Did a ~10 minutes search about the festival🔎
Apparently, there are few movies made about this Muhomatsu person🧐
Pulling home made contraptions through the streets and making some noise seems a pretty universal way of celebrating. The kids seemed to enjoy it :)
Yeah, the kids were well in to it. There was a float for each area of the city, so quite a few were out.
Great share of Japanese culture again 👍
Maybe it's a ping pong tournament, most people are carrying a ping pong paddle. Pong pong is so awesome, glade to see they like it too
Lol, they're fans but they do look like table tennis bats 😂
@@RetroCore oh... Makes sense... Like Mai Sheranui

Did reviewing the Amstrad version of Pit Fighter cause you to start drinking excessively ? You certainly seem to be partial to the devils sauce.

after your comment I've checked Mark's BotP of Pit Fighter and it's already 7 years old
man, time flies
