For the folks disparaging point-fighting Karate: check out Kyoji Horiguchi, Gunnar Nelson, Stephan Thompson, and of course Lyoto Machida. All of them had experience in point-fighting, and all have carried their Karate to MMA quite successfully. Also, if you want a demonstration of the power of a good Karate style punch, take a look at Chuck Liddell, who's a Koei Kan Karate black belt, and Lyoto Machida's KO's against Rashad and Bader. Bigfoot Silva was also a Shotokan Karate black belt. Even Kyoji Horiguchi's been starching folks, and he's extremely traditional and has that "point fighting bounce." Every martial art has its place, its pros, and its cons, and the explosive speed and evasiveness of point-fighting translates well to full-contact and MMA. It looks a little strange to the untrained eye, and some of the attacks might seem "unrealistic," but there's nothing fake about the speed, agility, and reflexes of these guys. Take them on and see if you can touch them before you hate.
This point karate is objectively stupid. There's no way someone would fight like that in real life. It's not realistic, it's stupid over exaggeration of basically tiggy where no one gets hurt and 80% of the fight is screaming. So many haters... Does boxing suck because they don't kick? Is judo phoney baloney because they don't punch? A martial arts competition doesn't need to resemble a street fight for it to prove skill and martial prowess. Being grounded and pounded isn't everyone's idea of having a good time. And unlike UFC, most martial arts practitioners are in it for the fun and not for the money.
Jens Bushrod-Roose UFC is pretty much the only way to have full contact fighting though... which is why so many people think it's so great. Full contact Muay Thai or karate or almost any kung fu would break limbs so bad no one would be able to fight again... or even straight up kill someone.

@@ayamaysar5764 Uh no. You can still hit have respect. These two guys you see in this video are tournament sparring, not match sparring. Match sparring actually has contact. And this is coming from someone who does practice Shotokan Karate. If your dojo is not teaching you how to make contact, then how do you expect to properly defend yourself when the time comes? Most people get their ass kicked first before figuring out that the sparring in this video does not work.
Actually that is what is all about, karate is about respecting ur opponet first.People just type karate fight in search and expect to see ufc blood fighting till someone die,cz' they are limited.Thing is, those two can do that too if the wanted to,all those kicks and techniqes are very lethal, but it is a sport event why would u harm someone on a tournament to fck him up.I sugest everyone who laugh about it,go to ur local karate club and do a hardcore sparing withsomeone without glows. I dont they will laugh anymore about this "dancing".
@@bazabaza6980 The difference between this and MMA is that its a tournament all held for both glory for the best, fun to practice, and learning for the others. Using the first clean strike minimizes damage to either fighter, and gives them a chance to retain lots of energy for the next bouts too. In Boxing you only have 1 minute to rest up before spending the next 3 in a ring with the opponent. And the respect at the end is just the best. Congratulating each other for their accomplishments.
Why in the comments people say karate doesn't work and is for weak people? They fight like that because those are the rules, it isn't like boxing that are just punches this are clean fights and martial arts are to protect yourself, not for entertainment and beat someone face, karate is not for weak people, is only that stupid people don't get it
I see some negative feedback or in a better word some criticisms here. You should distinguish between a karate competition and a normal self defense or martial art class. For your information, Karate competitions is not an exhibition of martial art that you can show all of your Technics, because the time is so short and everything happens altogether in an extremely short time period hence the competitors should use only a single Technic which is their best and most predominant Technic. There is no room for a small mistake. Defiantly they know plenty of ethnics.
I noticed that many of u guys here want to see violents and gores? "This is not a real karate" "they only jumping around" "why are they always shout?" Easy to judge people when u have no actual knowledge huh. My personal opinion no matter what kind of martial arts or styles, if u learn it passionately throughout the years eventually u'll be a great practitioner and in the street fights (which u guys really wanted to) u'll be stronger than average people and i think that's enough except if u are an athlete and u make living from ur martial arts
Of course, it is well known that all real fights start with both opponents ready, and standing 4 metres apart. Kumite is about scoring points, not being the better fighter, depending upon your definition of "fighter". Both men are very agile and good at Kumite, it does not follow that they would be effective in a bar or street situation. What you do in training is what you will do under pressure, when muscle memory kicks in. Personally, it is my ambition, thwarted on many occasions in the past, to avoid fights. I have better things to do than bleed, or make someone else bleed.
dude what do you know about real karate... let me tell you real karate is a contact sport when I trained in it 40 years ago it looked nothing like this shit
this is the most amazing footwork i've seen in a martial art that isn't just a individual talent, like in boxing or muay thai, sometimes some athletes have amazing footwork, but in this point karate thing is seems that this is one of their focus and everyone is required to move this good.
Holzken has fought Raymond Daniels whose style is from the point system karate, shotokan? Im not sure. long story short, Holzken won. But, Raymond daniels is a legend and is far more complete and superior than these two kangaroos.
I think cobra kai is more of an american modified kyukushin karate thingy so whoever is here to watch cobra kai, please go and watch kyukushin matches. You'll get cobra kai vibes there. This is the real chad karate
Tay Lowkey This is sport karate and this match uses points. In traditional karate the training is more brutal and the conditioning of the body is tough. Modern karate and it’s sporty style is not meant for self defense or the original purpose of eliminating the enemy with one single technique. Please look up traditional karate training and it could resemble what you see in Cobra Kai
As a practitioner I have always hated karate competitions (even though Suzuki Senseî encouraged him). It is nothing like Karate Do. Seeing two fighters hopping around to play 'sideline' is ridiculous. They are always the same guards, always the same techniques; it sucks. Only the Kata competitions are interesting. (Cobra Kai is a great show, a very nice sequel to the movies)
This is not real karate lmfao, if you want to see real karate then type traditional karate match and you'll see real karate lol, thinking you know what real karate is
The original "The Karate Kid" got me into karate ( mainly Yoshukai because that was all that was around). I started in the 1980's-1990's. Man, I took and gave the worst beatings during sparring. It was no joke back then. I had broken bones and black eyes. We actually knocked people out in sparring. Now it's watered down.
i don't know why u noobs criticize , please first read WKF rules , and Learn more about traditional karate or Karate Bases ... In place that I train when we're fighting one on one we are actually kicking each other.Once,I hit my opponent in the head and she fell on the ground really hard.My trainer punched a girl in the stomach and she spitted blood, for real, she was deposited for black belt.I'm telling you, these guys won't hold back when they're fighting on the street. 😂😂
When is there going to be an internet bully beatdown? For the guys, who hide behind the keyboard. Someone should start a show like that challenging the martial artists they criticize. Get off our competition videos and go play some more PC games.

Bien muchacho!! Excelente combate! En efecto peleó mejor el azul.
I absolutely love how in the end they just hug it out like true fucking champions. That's what fighting is about! They both were incredible.
Congratulating each other for their accomplishments.
yes a real fight this was they really went to war lmao
figthing about love yes of course...
@@chiefeo About respect and fun, but love is also nice.

Where are the 8 move combo moves into flying butterfly kicks I saw in cobra Kai? And the washing cars block moves lol
This looks waaaaay better in the movies.
No way in hell I'd buy a ticket to this.
it was a good high level match i enjoyed it very fast
Why in the comments people say karate doesn't work and is for weak people? They fight like that because those are the rules, it isn't like boxing that are just punches this are clean fights and martial arts are to protect yourself, not for entertainment and beat someone face, karate is not for weak people, is only that stupid people don't get it
Amen,. people just like blood
This is sport Karate. It is totally different. Funakoshi was against competitions. This is just a terrible sport known as the WKF.
Fernando Sosa I am a yellow belt in karate and you are right
Hebat
The little animations had me cracking up 😂
Hey, at leat they're making some contact.
please educate me.
the store is tied
how did they decide the winner?
"we like hitting each other almost as much as fighting the air and jumping"
My personal opinion no matter what kind of martial arts or styles, if u learn it passionately throughout the years eventually u'll be a great practitioner and in the street fights (which u guys really wanted to) u'll be stronger than average people and i think that's enough except if u are an athlete and u make living from ur martial arts
true that
Of course, it is well known that all real fights start with both opponents ready, and standing 4 metres apart.
I have better things to do than bleed, or make someone else bleed.
winter thanks it makes me vomit to see these demented haters
+winter well said bro
dude what do you know about real karate... let me tell you real karate is a contact sport when I trained in it 40 years ago it looked nothing like this shit
For people here from cobra Kai, reality is often disappointing
Kyokushin
I mean if you genuinely believe karate displayed in Cobra-kai is real that your pretty gullible
this is the most amazing footwork i've seen in a martial art that isn't just a individual talent, like in boxing or muay thai, sometimes some athletes have amazing footwork, but in this point karate thing is seems that this is one of their focus and everyone is required to move this good.
I really wana see one of them against Buakaw or Holzken.
Holzken has fought Raymond Daniels whose style is from the point system karate, shotokan? Im not sure. long story short, Holzken won. But, Raymond daniels is a legend and is far more complete and superior than these two kangaroos.
Homicide you mean?
Спасибо,от души посмеялся
I think cobra kai is more of an american modified kyukushin karate thingy so whoever is here to watch cobra kai, please go and watch kyukushin matches. You'll get cobra kai vibes there. This is the real chad karate
This is what happens when the two nerdy kids in school got into a fight over yu gi oh, the ref is the confused yard duty 😂😂
Fak lmaoo
Damn, this is karate? It seems so lame. You know what... I’m just gonna go back to watching Cobra Kai....
SquaredPotentia nah cobra Kail is more tang soo do or taekwondo because they focus on kicks
@@ninthkaikan1544 These competitions are void and do not represent Karate Do.

To all haters: This is REAL KARATE, IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT THEN KEEP IT TO YOURSELF!!!!!
This is not real karate lmfao, if you want to see real karate then type traditional karate match and you'll see real karate lol, thinking you know what real karate is
Bitch plssssss even Karate Combat is closer than this rubbish
Dude ,karate before was a whole self defense system
YOU KNOW, IM A MORE VIOLENT PERSON AND I LIKE MORE OTHERS MARTIAL ARTS, BUT ABOVE ALL THAT, I RESPECT KARATE, I ENJOY WATCHING THIS.
+Andres Bobo Don't be fool, this is NOT Karate.
+Henry Lau Then what is this?
This is about techniques and zero power you can lean a thing or two out of it
+Mart K just some bull craps about dancing and getting points.
Great video, thanks for sharing

i don't know why u noobs criticize , please first read WKF rules , and Learn more about traditional karate or Karate Bases ...
WKF Kumite isn't a part of Karate , this is just a adaptation for every style of Karate to compete together ..
Karate is one of the most variable Martial arts according to the style ..
if WKF had no rules , every Karateka would do what they want .. so better learn more
***** The whole point is to develop speed, accuracy, and timing. You can't always spar full contact.
MozWorstGamer hello sir can you explain to me why punches to the face and kicks to the
legs are not allowed. Also I see that they never use their elvows or
knees when the should.
***** This is why Gichin Funakoshi didn't like tournaments and thought it was counter intuitive to Karate. I mean have the things we train on bags we can't use in a tournament.
Giancarlo Torres because its the wkf. They wear armour for point scoring? You shouldnt compare it to other things like mma or even other types of karate. Like everyone said its really variable
Giancarlo Torres Face Punche's and Kicks to the head are all allowed .
but leg kicking is something used to damage the opponent that's why isn't allowed
all "Atemi Waza" tecniques aren't allowed
Atemi waza is High damage tecniques (traumatical) to the legs only sweeps (Ashi barai )
When does the fight start tho?
Is this the Sekai tekai
In place that I train when we're fighting one on one we are actually kicking each other.Once,I hit my opponent in the head and she fell on the ground really hard.My trainer punched a girl in the stomach and she spitted blood, for real, she was deposited for black belt.I'm telling you, these guys won't hold back when they're fighting on the street.
😂😂
Most important part of the fight - make your kimono looks good bro 😃
