everything must count and most techniques will get you hurt if opponent is focused and ready, kiss method works(keep it simple stupid)...
good quick hands, strong well timed front, side, roundhouse kicks, maybe spinning back kick, personally i used front kicks, crescent, and punches in bunches.

It’s pretty amazing to see how many people that don’t know anything about karate is commenting things like “this is trash” “MMA is better” “Boxing is better”, karate is not just trying to kill the other one, karate is discipline and respect, sadly, competition has become a show but still really good and still really really difficult to get to where this Two guys are, for those who ask why do they shout its call “kime” and its the liberation of the energy, or the strength, after making a hit, some people make it louder some people not. So before commenting stupid things without knowing, don’t try to make urselves “intelligent” cause ur not and don’t watch this videos if u prefer other sports.

For the folks disparaging point-fighting Karate: check out Kyoji Horiguchi, Gunnar Nelson, Stephan Thompson, and of course Lyoto Machida. All of them had experience in point-fighting, and all have carried their Karate to MMA quite successfully. Also, if you want a demonstration of the power of a good Karate style punch, take a look at Chuck Liddell, who's a Koei Kan Karate black belt, and Lyoto Machida's KO's against Rashad and Bader. Bigfoot Silva was also a Shotokan Karate black belt. Even Kyoji Horiguchi's been starching folks, and he's extremely traditional and has that "point fighting bounce." Every martial art has its place, its pros, and its cons, and the explosive speed and evasiveness of point-fighting translates well to full-contact and MMA. It looks a little strange to the untrained eye, and some of the attacks might seem "unrealistic," but there's nothing fake about the speed, agility, and reflexes of these guys. Take them on and see if you can touch them before you hate.

Feel free to RUclips or google me. I have boxed professionally at world level globally. I was also a professional muay Thai fighter at age 19.
I also have a 3rd Dan in TKD and black belt in karate. And I can tell you for a FACT both are useless in a real fight. I learned that the hard way.

So many haters... Does boxing suck because they don't kick? Is judo phoney baloney because they don't punch? A martial arts competition doesn't need to resemble a street fight for it to prove skill and martial prowess. Being grounded and pounded isn't everyone's idea of having a good time. And unlike UFC, most martial arts practitioners are in it for the fun and not for the money.

Jens Bushrod-Roose UFC is pretty much the only way to have full contact fighting though... which is why so many people think it's so great. Full contact Muay Thai or karate or almost any kung fu would break limbs so bad no one would be able to fight again... or even straight up kill someone.

Jens Bushrod-Roose you are very true, ppl have to differentiate between Sport karate and traditional karate. KARATE IS SO EFFECTIVE, actually nowadays speed plays a role in sport category, again power can be demonstrated in Kata and or ...if they need more karate strength effectiveness display, street fight is enough because it's either jail or no jail, coz one karate technique can kill someone.

This is sport sparring, it's not applicable in self-defense and if you fought like this in the street you get your ass handed to you. And this is coming from someone who does practice Shotokan Karate. If your dojo is not teaching you how to make contact, then how do you expect to properly defend yourself when the time comes? Most people get their ass kicked first before figuring out that the sparring in this video does not work.

I see some negative feedback or in a better word some criticisms here. You should distinguish between a karate competition and a normal self defense or martial art class. For your information, Karate competitions is not an exhibition of martial art that you can show all of your Technics, because the time is so short and everything happens altogether in an extremely short time period hence the competitors should use only a single Technic which is their best and most predominant Technic. There is no room for a small mistake. Defiantly they know plenty of ethnics.

Easy to judge people when u have no actual knowledge huh. My personal opinion no matter what kind of martial arts or styles, if u learn it passionately throughout the years eventually u'll be a great practitioner and in the street fights (which u guys really wanted to) u'll be stronger than average people and i think that's enough except if u are an athlete and u make living from ur martial arts

Of course, it is well known that all real fights start with both opponents ready, and standing 4 metres apart. Kumite is about scoring points, not being the better fighter, depending upon your definition of "fighter".
Both men are very agile and good at Kumite, it does not follow that they would be effective in a bar or street situation. What you do in training is what you will do under pressure, when muscle memory kicks in.
Personally, it is my ambition, thwarted on many occasions in the past, to avoid fights. I have better things to do than bleed, or make someone else bleed.
