    It is so refreshing to see a real woman reporter, with great speaking skill and journalism etiquette and not a plasticized version of a female reporter who has no personality and speaks monotonously. Like wow. I don’t think I’ve ever seen just a normal female reporter. Great work.

    • @garyspence2128
      @garyspence2128 14 days ago +164

      She's a throwback to an older generation. Did you notice how she let the people actually tell the story instead of interrupting or trying to speak for them. That's back to the Walter Cronkite journalism of ancient times. Or Jane Pauley of the Today Show. The personalities of those days. Reporters who realize that they are not the story. Just let the people who were there tell the tale. She wasn't worried about dressing up. But knew how to do the job. She's too old for national news, but is more qualified than 90% of the others you see.

      I opened the comments exactly for the same reason you did, the reporter kindness. The true emotion she is showing in a moment of sadness and joy at the same time. The ordeal the young woman is still going through and the good people who saved her. She never said the classic words “ Our thoughts and prayers are with her”. She didn’t need these words. We saw all her feelings in her face and her hear.

    What a kind man Carl and his wife are to take her in, get her some nourishment, shower, cloth her, let her sleep. It's a miracle she traveled that far and survived, from Ingram to Centerpoint. Makes me proud of Texans.

    • @garyspence2128
      @garyspence2128 14 days ago +51

      Those are the kinds of Texas folks I met and knew back in the day. People who would help you in an emergency, regardless of whether they knew you, ignoring racial or class differences, but just knew you needed help right at that moment. Would stop on the highway if you had a flat. Or if your radiator needed coolant. Or a fan belt! Folks would just be Good Samaritan type of helping to get you on your way. You probably would never see them again, but it was common practice back then. If you offered some cash for their help and time, they would usually turn it down. That's how folks rolled back then. But it can still happen, like these sterling folks. It's why I'm still here at 70 yrs old, despite how much it's changed. Oh well. Pray for more survivors. Reporter was great. Let the people tell the story. That's old school. Need more of that style. Good luck.

As to Sue Calberg - I've not seen her before. She is what every on-scene reporter should aspire to be - kind, empathetic, and approachable. KENS 5 - she's a gem. Let's see more of her.
