PEPIN "THE BRIEF" - The birth of the Carolingian dynasty (Eng/Esp subs)

Pepin was the first king of the Carolingian dynasty, crowned by Pope Stephen II in 754. He ceded territories to the Pope that included Ravenna and other cities. This transfer, called 'the donation of Pepin', constituted the founding stone of the Papal States. He not only consolidated the power of the Merovingian dynasty, but also laid the foundation for the creation of the Carolingian Empire.
